While reading a book on Disney I noticed they kept talking about these "Chicken Exits" on certain rides. Being the big chicken that I am but would love to take pictures of the scenery that is before the ride, I was wondering if anyone can tell me which rides have them and are you allowed to take pictures? Also am I going to look really dumb doing this or are there other chickens out there too?

I also just want to say thanks to everyone here for all the help and info that I have gotton from the board. This year was the first time we have planned our trip to Disney without a travel agent. I may not post a lot but my computer goes on at 7:00 am every morning and the first place I go is here.

Hope to see some lime green ribbons in Aug. I went to Home Depot and got my Mickey heads.

Thanks!!

I have also heard about the chicken exits but have never noticed them on prior trips. I would like to know also which rides have them seeing as those are most likely the rides I won't be able to go on pregnant but would still like to go through the lines and pre-shows with my friends. Any help out there?

Well...
I know that there is one for Tower of Terror. You go all the way in, go right to the loading areas, and when your group goes through, you can leave through the exit. (To the left as you look at the elevators). So you see it all except for the actual ride.

The Rock and Roller coaster also has one...
You go all the way through thte preshow, and just as you step up to tell the CM how many are in your party, there is a door, ont he left that says exit... I think that goes into the store.

I am not sure about others, but these two attractions definetly have them.
Have a great time!!

Believe me, I've seen and used most of them!

All of the big rides have them - they just aren't obvious. You just go through the line with your party until you get to the CM who is seating riders. Tell them that you aren't riding and they'll direct you to a waiting area or a gate that leads to a waiting area where you will meet your party after they get off of the ride. They are NOT going to make you ride the ride to get out. Honest.

I've done this personally on:
ToT (although I have managed to ride this twice)
Space Mountain (I just can't bring myself to do it.)
RnR (Only once though - I actually LOVE this ride.)
Splash Mountain (Now that I forced myself to do it, I like this one too.)

I've seen people do this on:
BTMR
Alien Encounter

TOT's chicken exit is actually an elevator.... but compaired to the other one, it is noraml :p

all of the big rides that have the loading and unloading in two diffrent areas have chiken exits (in the MK: HM, Space Mnt., ET, In MGM: ToT, RnR) and that is all i can think off, the rest of the rides, you can just step across the ride velical and go out the exit.

just ask the CM at the entrance of the ride where the exits are and they will tell you :D

My DD 10 used the one at RnR twice and loved being able to go through the pre-show and actually see the coaster shoot out at the start. She told us the chicken exit had a seen in the corridor that it was for "Parking Attendants Only" ! I thought that was very clever! It took her to the gift shop, where she waited only a few minutes for us, since we were loading on the ride when she left us. Worked great!

There is a chicken exit at the Haunted Mansion right before you board the ride. My son once chickened out and we asked the CM and he showed us how to get out.

Also is a chicken exit at Dinosaur; you get to see the pre-show and after the doors open, you exit to your left. It will empty you out into the area where everyone sees their post-ride photos.

There really isn't much theming to Splash before you get into the logs, and once in a log, you can't get out.

I've only had the nerve to ride it once, but as I remember, the only thing to see before you board the logs is the outdoor line area in the building courtyard, plus a corridor that is kind of bland.
You can see most of that courtyard without even getting into the line.

I myself have used the Chicken Exits & have been with people who have used them. No problem, nobody will criticize you. Hey, maybe you just have to use the rest room or something! It's really a good idea, because then everyone gets to see the great pre-show & themeing & the wait is just a minute or two since the riders are getting on when you split up. The TOT pre-show is very enjoyable, also the RN'RC pre-show.

Ursula(not)- I suspect the Chicken Exit at Splash Mountain are for people who change their mind at the last minute!!

Last November when my grand daughter was 3 1/2, I took her to the Haunted Mansion. She was really scared in the "pre" ride part, and I asked the CM to let us out because she did not want to go on the ride. He told me there was no way we could get out and we HAD to go on the ride. Needless to say, my poor grand daughter was very scared. When ever we talk about our next trip to DW, (in 2 weeks!!), she always says, " But NO Haunted Mansion! Remember, NO Haunted Mansion!" I wish had known about the "chicken exit" back then. I can't believe that CM made a poor little kid get that scared. Of course, it was really my fault for taking her on the ride. I should have known better.

The great news is that Mission Space will have a chicken exit too. The pre-show area is supposed to be super and have lots of hands on stuff for everyone to do. But, there is an exit so you can duck out and not ride the ride. I have motion sickness and usually just stay outside with my younger ones who are too young/scared to ride so I have never used one. I do want to see the buildings though so I may start using these on a regular basis! Lacee

Star Tours and Body wars are supposed to have spaces available to people with motion problems. I hope to find out more about this when I go back, thanks for the news about the chicken exits. I've often wondered if I was stuck on something or not. The 1st time I rode the Tomorrowland Transit it said now entering Space Mountain and I thought it was the way in. I started having a panic attack right there. Luckily I talked myself thru it, but it was scary. I would like to see the pre ride stuff, but don't because I'm a big chicken.

I haven't followed it but there is a sign pointing to the chicken exit of Splash', the sign reads something like "last chance to get out if yer still skeered of gitten wet" This is on the log loading platform just before you get to the gates where the logs stop for you.

Yes I have used the chicken exits to RnR, ToT, and even Space Mtn and Test Track. I did get up the courage to ride the latter two in a later year and now ride them often.

Every ride has an exit to accomodate baby-swaps and those that don't care to ride but also don't want to sit outside on their own while their party goes through a lengthy line.

You're not chicken- just selective.
