Chicago residents/visitors please

My family & I are flying into Chicago on June 14th. I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to get from Midway to the downtown area(Chicago Sheraton Hotel & Towers). I read in the unofficial guide that we could take the Orange Line train & then it would be about a $5 cab ride from the train station. Does this sound right or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Orange line you pick up right at the airport. I'm thinking there is a stop in the loop about 1/2 mile from the Hotel. If you only have a few bags it's not a bad walk. There may possibly be a CTA bus you can take that would get you there also, but with a few people in your group it may just be as cheap to take a cab. You may want to give the hotel a call first and ask them You can get a transfer when you board the train at the airport.
Sorry I don't know route numbers. I do know that there is no train that goes any closer than about 1/2 mile to the hotel. I would imagine that CTA has a web site. Give them a check.
Have a great time in Chicago. Sheraton is right on the river and also about 1/2 mile from Navy Pier. Also about 1/3 mile from North Michigan ave.

I would also call the hotel and see if they have shuttle service to and from the airport. The above mentioned is probably your cheapest bet. I don't know the train routes or rates but I am familiar with the buses from the train station. However - I don't know if you'd want to take a bus that weekend with luggage - I did hear there are several conventions going on around that weekend also.

Can I be nosey and ask if you are doing anything fun while you are there? We will be in the city the same weekend to see The Lion King and hang out.
