Chicago O'Hare MD 80 drops engine parts

Just heard on 890 AM that a possible MD 80 aircraft ( they aren't sure which type of plane yet) had a loud bang shortly after take-off and dropped and engine or engine debris on the corner of Harlem and Touhy! Right in my old neighborhood!

The plane turned around and landed safely at O'Hare. Not sure about casualties on the ground. Anyone heard anything else ??

Lovely...that's 2 1/2 miles from my house...I'll have to ask the neighbors if they heard anything.

Just saw on ABC that witnesses heard an explosion first then saw white smoke. Thank God they were able to land safely.

Now they are saying it was caused by hitting a bird which caused an engine fire. Pretty bizarre!
