Chicago Midway Airport warning

I had a 9:50 am flight on Saturday out of Midway. Southwest airlines was absolutely a mad house this past Saturday. It took us 40 minutes to check in a suitcase. I had already printed my boarding passes at home. There were so many people that it was hard to walk through the crowds.

Security lines weren't too bad but it was still a good 15 minutes to get through.
We arrived at the airport at 8:15am and didn't get to our gate until 9:30am. :earseek: My bag didn't make the flight. It came in on the next one.
Just a heads up to plan on being at the airport at least 2 hours prior on Saturday mornings.

Southwest can be a madhouse on the MCO end of things, too. If at all possible, we stick to carry-on only. It cuts out a huge chunk of our wait time. Remember, when you return to Midway, it's not unusual to wait an hour (or more) for your luggage! They are the absolute worst.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am flying ATA (not to WDW SNIFF...SNIFF..) and figured with the London tragedy that things would get messy again. I am going to see if I can print our boarding passes ahead of time and then do curbside check-in. That bottle neck over the bridge for security check in is crazy. DH is just gonna drop us this time.

I used to live in Chicago (moved 4 years ago) and even before the updates to Midway it would take FOREVER to check in there. Always plan to be early no matter which day you are traveling!
