Chicago DVCers, Did you go to the Magic of Membership reception?

We were vacationing at the time, but I wanted to know if anyone went to the DVC "Magic of Membership" Holiday reception at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago November 19th or 20th. I tried to search, but never found anything. Did anyone go? What was it like?

We went ! It was fun they gave away a bunch of gifts including a one week stay with II. We won a nice travel cup. They talked about the changes coming in the near future, more things available online and they touched on the cruise lightly. A nice reception with breakfast foods and fruit. Coffee,tea etc also available. Mickey and Minnie were there as were Chip 'n Dale. We commented that we hope they do them on a regular basis.

Squid - did you go Sunday? We went Saturday and really enjoyed ourselves. The room was beautiful. The DJ was a little annoying but that is a DJ's job. The games got the kids involved and they had lots of little giveaways as well as some bigger ones. Didn't win the trip but did get a DVC picknic blanket which is vinyl on one side.

Best of all it gave us a chance to chat with many of the DVC management that we had met on the cruise. We got a good 15 minutes or so talking about the 2005 cruise, this event and the 2006 cruise. They really like to listen to the membership. I think we'll be seeing more of this type of event all around the country.

Mary we went to the early one on Sunday Dale and Karen were with us. not a big crowd , we figured it was cause of Sunday morn AND the Bears were in town. I'm with you I hope they schedule MORE of these around the country!

We were there for the Sat afternoon meeting. Had a great time, took our picture for our Holiday cards, and DH(joepoe) won one of the table decorations!

Downside, got us in the mood to go back and our next trip wasn't scheduled until March. Thanks to the special on the Food Channel, we were even more anxious to go. Found airfare for under $200, availability at OKW and we're off - 12/27 - 12/21!

We went Saturday morning and it was a lot of fun. Met some friends from the DIS there and it was nice to sit together and catch up. Almost everyone in our group won a prize, DS5 won a really cool travel mug, DS10 won a Donald Duck DVC alarm clock, I won a Radio Disney t-shirt for playing a game, DH received a DVC Mickey antenna topper. Everyone attending received a light up DVC blinking pin. They asked trivia questions and those who answered won prizes. They had a lot of prizes so many people in the group won.

We took a picture in front of the display they had which is being made into our Christmas cards this year.

Even the kids enjoyed it. We hope they do another one in the Chicagoland area. I know we'll attend if they do.
