Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

Nats catch a huge break with this. If they had even started at 3 would have had a great shot at getting it in. Well, guess we just have to beat Strasburg twice.

Grounds crew covering pitcher's mound, home plate now at Wrigley.

Unfortunately, there is also rain forecast for D.C. on Thursday night. That means Scherzer may come back on short rest for Friday, or he may even come in for relief of Gio.

I sent a link to that Wikipedia page to Judi (Snoopy) who lives in DC. Some here remember her. For the record, she loves the Cubs, hates the Nationals and all prior DC teams. :cool1: She says the only team better than the Cubs are the Orioles, where she grew up.
I was stationed at the Pentagon for 4 years and never wanted to see ANY of the deadskins or other DC teams. I had a chance to see an orioles game, but wasn't able to make it. :sad2: And to make it worse, it was while Ripken was still playing.

My dislike for the deadskins was already there, but solidified when they beat us (Dolphins) in '82. We should've won that game.

OMG...Dusty's press conference :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao:
FIRST he says Roark will still start...ummm OK. for 1 inning to not make a liar out of him, Stras will be in from there.
says a lot of his players are under the weather. Says AC In hotels & mold in Chicago."I think it's mold." Moaning they have to change hotel rooms, Strasburg did his bullpen...get the WAHHHHHMbulance!

Hey Dusty..here's a thought~ go to Walgreens and get some allergy med's.

On the upside gang, we get to keep flying our W flags another night!

Well I’m just glad it’s an early game 8pm starts are rough for me waking up at 4:30am.
Agreed. I don't get up quite as early, but I start turning into a pumpkin at about 10pm Eastern, so the 8pm games are rough.

I had almost the same reaction. Really???? You're going to say your team is under the weather because of climate changes and hotel changes and in and out of AC? Really??? How pathetic! Like that doesn't describe the WHOLE STINKING SEASON?????

Fin, I'm using/borrowing/stealing/whatever your tag ---- DUHsty much?

Then Chicago mold...ummm, pretty sure mold is NOT confined to Chicago!

I guess Roark is immune to it all? Dusty just said yesterday Stras is good to go. I still want proof he(Strasburg) actually threw a session today

According to him during that interview, he (Stras) was also under the weather. We'll see.

At the risk of being too cocky...we beat him once, we'll do it again. We never quit! Go Cubs Go!!!

the Nat's released a statement message that Dusty *mis-spoke* Stras threw a bullpen yesterday but IS somewhat under the weather...shocking lol

Of course he is. He’s a local boy.

I also heard Dusty’s excuses. It’s like he’s laying the framework on why they will lose tomorrow. Strasburg better be freaking dying to miss the game ( or he got those special brownies that @FINFAN ordered). I can’t believe they are not going with him. I’m half expecting them to yell, “Psych!” and pitch him anyway.

As for today’s game, I had the opportunity to sit with a friend I met on Facebook last year. I think I’m still drying out. Instead of driving 3 hours Home and 3 hours back for tomorrow’s game my DH booked me a hotel in the burbs. All the Hiltons were sold out downtown so Dusty’s complaint about having to change hotels was probably correct.

Going back tomorrow for the game. In the meantime, rainy Wrigley above.

I am very much thinking the same thing. They’ll have a short leash on Roark.

Interestingly, on the radio they said Strasburg nixed himself, saying he wasn’t feeling well, when asked by the Nats whether he could go tomorrow.

Random thoughts: If the Cubs win tomorrow, celebration in order. If Cubs win Thursday, they’ll probably tone it down a bit, been there. Need to turn it around fast to LA. If the Nats win their first series in franchise history on Thursday, they’ll be waaay hungover all weekend.

I know Roark will have 1/2 of Wilmington here to see him pitch at Wrigley ( he also has decent #'s here) but Scherzer is also available for an inning if needed along with Doolittle /Albers/ Madson. Gotta just go with being prepared for both( Strasburg could have a miraculous recovery overnight.) Jake could have an amazing day but if we don't put up any numbers it doesn't matter. A lot of time has gone by since Jake has pitched...he's the one I'm most focused on..but Lester/Lackey/Monty can be called upon. Just don't touch Kyle.
