well...I have 4 words. In DUHsty we trusty~lol. my God I CANNOT believe he pitched to Rizzo AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!I decided to head to Wrigley from a family appointment...got there end of the second and decided to try and hit Sports Corner (Robin, my phone still on the DL and didn't have your # to try you from my DS phone. DS keep harping on me to get a new one) but WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!! I love SC as you can hear everything, Anthem, crowd, walk up songs, 7th inning, and see the scoreboard..wave to everyone in standing room and back row of the 500 level. Schwarb's...I'm not even mad. Yeah, he should've had it. He knows it, but he also knows he's way better than that and you move on.JHey and JJ2 coming over to him was huge and we all know Kyle is in there for his bat more than his fielding. Harper screwed up a way easier catch game 1.

I know is Cub Nation was throwing every hex, whammy and voo-doo on the no-no and it WORKED! CJ an absolute BEAST in the 8th and Zobie...man he can turn it on when it matters most. That play robbing Turner saved the game, and his double to break the no-no..AAJ clutch! Thank you again Dusty, for deciding to NOW pull Max , lol.....we were practically salivating at him making that move. Then there's "RESPECT ME" Rizzo!!!https://gfycat.com/NegligibleAnchoredAmericanmarten You got my respect Riz...you ARE the Cubs offense so far!

an extra nice touch was being able to leave a message on the wall again this year....I wrote my usual GO CUBS! Lets Go, We Never Quit, along with Defend The Title...and then my DS wrote Let Baez Be Baez, lol....and some reporter was takng my pic and asking about me writing We did it Ulysses~that was the man I met on the train last year heading down for game 5. He went to the 1945 WS against Detroit. Said that was cool. Yes, yes it was. I will remember that day for a VERY long time.

Weather was fantastic, I'm sure Robin is going to have some greats pic's for us all..and LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! CUBS IN 4!!!!!!

it was just announced that tomorrows game will remain at 4:38 due to impending weather no matter what the outcome of the Yankee game tonight.

Could park somewhere near the Brown line (less common than red) and train it to Belmont then walk or transfer. Bit unconventional but allows parking way west with options. Or Spot Hero.

I’ll be watching on my iPad at work tonight and tomorrow. Hoping we come alive from the rest of the lineup and Q shines.
Q did indeed, SHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, don’t know HOW we won that but it was amazing. I think they posted a graphic somewhere that this was the 4th time only that a losing playoff team’s starter gave up only 1 hit or less through 6 innings.

2-1 feels about right given their strong pitching too, and all the close plays both ways.

Still some work to do. Nats could bring Strasburg early if tomorrow not going well. And Jake needs to be Jake. If Nats take 2 of 2, they’ll have earned it. I’m just writing this all out so that it doesn’t happen. Like a vaccine.

I'll be shocked if Strasburg isn't in tomorrow

They're not using Strasburg tomorrow. Already named Roark the starter and also said Strasburg was not an option for G4. It'd be a waste to bring him out of the pen for a couple innings. Plus guy has had TONS of arm problems.

Yeah, but don't forget...we can bring John early if things not going well either. I'm hoping Jake is on his game today, but also knowing we've got an ace in the hole helps too.

I know you didn't comment specifically on CJ, but when a strike is a strik, CJ does much better. I'm just glad Q didn't melt down when his strikes were balls. Couple times, it was quite obvious he knew it was a bad call and almost did the Big John glare. ;)

I'm with Fin, when Dusty came out to the mound I was thinking "pull him, pull him". Then it looked like he wasn't and then he did. I was (pleasantly) surprised with Rizzo's hit...I was kinda expecting him to get HBP, but maybe the pitchers have figured out not to pitch him in so tight for that reason.

sun is shining now and beautiful out...finger's crossed the rain that is predicted for later wants to visit somewhere else

Great article on AAJ/Schwarb's..I for one am never going to forget hearing that Schwarb's went to to fall ball..matter of fact Robin texted me before the Dodger game when word got out. The guy sacrifieced everything his body had to make it back to help the team get those rings. Some stupid error (and yes, even if we had lost) is minimized by knowing all the positives. I saw his foul ball fly right onto Sheffield yesterday...10 feet to left an no one cares about his dropped ball later.

I also have to S/O to Tommy on his AB drawing the walk~ I really gave him grief for his meltdown and since he has returned he has been as solid as you could hope for. I honestly thought he was starting yesterday as he has decent #'s against Scherzer and Joe was hinting at a surprise lefty.

Brings back two previous comments...

1) It's sad so many focus on an error and forget all the good things someone has done (My Bill Buckner post)
2) This is what makes a TEAM!!!! Everyone misses a play now and then (even Javy). It's called being human and NONE of us are perfect.

Another comment...when you have a wall that close to the line (one thing I both do and don't like about Wrigley) and you're watching the ball and watching the wall and the wind makes the ball drift more...all of that factors into a missed catch. Slamming into walls (or fences and flipping over...been there done that) hurts! Fortunately it was a non-issue so hopefully Kyle can forget it and come back better vs. it haunting him.

I agree. I was not bothered by Schwarber’s error, or I should say I didn’t have any animosity at all toward him. He apparently works hard on getting better out there. He misjudged the drift and was suddenly running faster at the end. We’ve seen opposing players do that in left field right there too. It’s the same as an own-goal gaffe in socccer: a world class player whose action results in the ball going behind his own keeper.

He’s a gamer. Did anyone watch that Cubs Yankees 18 inning loss early in the season where Kyle chased a foul baul over the wall between 3rd and left and went upside down vertical? (Though now I can’t remember if he caught it after all).

Update: yes he DID catch it. All heart. Here’s the link.

I sent a link to that Wikipedia page to Judi (Snoopy) who lives in DC. Some here remember her. For the record, she loves the Cubs, hates the Nationals and all prior DC teams. :cool1: She says the only team better than the Cubs are the Orioles, where she grew up.
I remembers Judi well! I miss her here, she would be a very welcome addition to our group.
