Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

We tried to leave home at 9:30 to get to the game but after a series of misadventures (including going back home for my DH's phone) we finally left at 10:30. We arrived at the remote parking at 12:45 but missed the first half inning. I saw the first 2 runs scored on the tv monitors in the concourse. Ugh. I grabbed an Old Style and a Smokie and made it to my seats in time for the bottom of the 1st.

I am still trying to figure out which one of the fantastic plays today was my favorite. Javy's homer? JHey's circus catch of Dex's smash? Schwarb's first ever grand salami? Lester picking off the disrespectful Pham?

Ah, they were all good. And a wonderful day of baseball. Cubs win!

Robin, is that the lot by Irving Park and the River? Did it work out well for you? I am thinking of using that this coming Saturday. I have always used the one by Lane Tech HS, but that is no longer.

Sorry...that was more of a statement of amazement than a question. I had seen the replay and I was in shock...he actually threw it. Looking at the replay, he didn't even throw it that hard and still got him.

Cubs DO play up, a lot! On that rough road trip which game did we get the most hits and actually score? Kershaw, lol. All of 2016 we were losing to the lesser teams and winning the tough ones. Colorado IS doing great and for sure will be a tough match but we have beat them before, can do it again, especially at home where they do not have the thin air advantage and pitching effect.

I'm going positive!!!

My fav heads up move of the game tho is JHey tying up the ball so Riz could get in...He masters that run down move . Baseball GENIOUS!!!!!!! I have seen him yelling to Addie before to do that as well.


There seems to be quite the Riz/JHey one-two punch happening, smoooooooth!


Speaking of JHey...LOVED him playing catch with Rossy!!!! Speaking of catching, his catch off Carpenter in the first inning? 14% chance of probability. Dude is fantastic.

Thankfully, they threw to third, but yes head's up to hold off long enough for Rizz to get in. Speaking of Rizz....DUDE, what were you thinking trying to get to third?? If he'd been running hard from the get go, okay, I can see that and the outcome would've been different, but he got duped. Props to Dex because I was wondering why he was just jogging after it and I was thinking because Rizzo was already on second. Regardless...hopefully he learned from that and if you go into a home run trot prematurely and it's not, be happy with the double. Regardless....what matters is we ended up with the W and the SWWWeep!! Go Cubs go!

Was that the play in the 8th? I thought that was JHey who got hung out to dry after the winning run was scored. They didn't really show the play again but went to commercial.

it was the hit before that that Riz had in the 6th, I think? I was listening to the radio the inning it happened..
it was the double Rizzo hit off the wall and it took a great bounce back mid field. Riz saw that bounce as he was heading to second and hit the afterburner's thinking 3 . Dex sort of "jogged" to it but threw a bullet perfectly to third and got Rizzo. We were tied, I would have done the same thing knowing it was STL . I don't think it was a home run trot, it was a Dex's gonna rob me trot, lol. When he saw it lifted and went off the wall, he saw the opportunity to try and get us 90 feet away. Dex got his buddy tho~ JHey did induce the rundown in the 8th and get the out after Rizzo scored.
So the Marlin's are coming in HOT...Straily's been on fire and their outfield been doing the same. I like the last time the Marlin's were at Wrigley ~as we swept them Butler we could really use a top notch outing from you here tonight! STL starts their series is against the Reds and it's Brewers /Giants.

ETA..Correction, we WEREN'T tied yet...but I would have still done it, 2 runs on STL never feels like enough

If I'm Riz I'm trying for 3 too(especially after getting in from 3rd lately but not from 2nd)....yeah, Dex faked him out~but we were tied,ETA..Correction, we WEREN'T tied yet...but I would have still done it, 2 runs on STL never feels like enough it's STL, hit the Freddie Flintstone mode!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to watch the highlights for it as that particular inning I was away from the tv.. I didn't think it was a home run slow start, I think he thought Dex was gonna make a spectacular play on him..but who know? Those two are probably chatting about it already, lol. I am just glad in game 2 Schwarb's knew his grand slam was gone, because he was standing in cement the first 2-3 seconds, lol. That's the stuff that got Starlin traded ..he just was too lazy out of the box.


BTW Doc, you still thinking JHey's not worth his $$$$$$$$$?
