Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

Yeah, that call has always been screwy. The runner is supposed to stay in the lane in foul territory, but the bag is fair territory. Talk about an idiotic rule. Also, if you look at where the ball hit him, it was his leg as he was hitting the bag so the interference call is BOGUS. (take first and last letter of that word --- it's that too!)

Happy to here we got the W!!! Speaking of Happ...he seems to be struggling a bit the last two games. Come on Happ, we want to see the hair on fire you again!!!

That call is why the 3rd *strike* call happened in the 9th...karma /Ump realizing goof, call it what you will. Joe speaking highly of the Ump in the post game was certainly appreciated, lol...at least by me given we still have todays game. Davis had an off-ish game, it's going to happen~ I'm just glad we didn't have to go further into the pen as Butler pitching tonight and really glad we have Monty (shout out to Robin and her baseball!). Hoping we see the STL "The Butler did it" version tonight, lol. Happ? the more big league pitching the guy sees the more he is going to level out, and then rise again. So many calling for AAJ to be sent down and make Happ a starter, trade Javy/Schwarbs for pitching..between Happ and Bam Bam you have what, 130 games? If Happ stays up and plays a lot he will benefit, If not, really need to send him back so he can keep playing, AAJ doing all he can to stay consistent with reduced playing time, its hard. Javy really letting the Suits know he is not going quietly and IMHO he isn't going anywhere until the off-season, IF then. JHey right on it, he is seeing the ball great..the wind last night didn't do him any favors, and that's 3rd bomb he has hit right along the RF line, one is gonna stay fair ...Not sure he will be starting today tho, as his #'s against Samardzija are not that great and he has been doing pretty good for the Giants this season despite their record.
Would really REALLY love the W today (esp since STL won last night) and head into L.A. with momentum.

Also waiting for the haters to start ragging on the bullpen for the dancing attention, and then struggling a bit :rolleyes2...just never happy

JHey is IN and Miggy getting more play! His bat is still hot and knows this pitcher...Willson's foot could use some time to recover, I'm sure. Happ back over to CF..getting used to being a piece on Joe's chessboard , lol.

I missed JHey's interference call last night, but was able to watch it on a game stream on FB. What a terrible call! Stoopid ump.

AGREED!!!! 20,000%. I've always thought that rule was moronic and in this particular case, it hit his leg on the foul side and it wasn't as if he was hogging the base...he was on the outside (foul side) 1/3 which he's MORE than entitled to. Any further over and he risks twisting/breaking his ankle on the edge of the bag. That is exactly why most times you see the catcher throw well inside the baseline and the first baseman out of the runner's way. If it's a bad throw and he's going TO the bag, it never should've been called.

STOOPID UMP INDEED! Well, I guess to be more fair...really BAD call from an umpire whose intelligence may or may not be in question. :jester:

Love the outfits!!! :rotfl:

What a great game...listened to it while working in the backyard. Btw, thanks to whomever sent me some cooler weather! :P Great game...great day! :cheer2:

Back in first place in NLC. Brewers down by .5 and STL down by 1. Okay guys, ya got us over .500, now it's time to stay in first. Let's keep flying the W.

We Never Quit!
Jake has done crazy great when pitching in CA...little things like his first no-hitter against the Dodger's...his W and 3 run homer against Bum in the play-offs :rolleyes1 I know batters have him figured out so to say~ but Jake is already focused in...didn't join in on the theme yesterday (or just didn't want to :confused3) so I'm feeling pretty good about him and we have been winning on the road. Plus if things DO get dicey, our bullpen is rested thanks to one Mr. Michael Montgomery! The bats are coming back to life and nothing fuels that better than warm weather (and a cookie throwing pitcher lol..not that tonight's is) I was really, REALLY hoping for a STL/L.A. 18 inning game last night resulting in a Dodger's very beat up win...I'll take the outcome, just hope they aren't on a momentum streak..oh wait, that's US!:thumbsup2

Tonight's lineup.....facing another lefty in Wood tonight , Schwarb's will have to wait to PH against the bullpen I guess.

Keep your Cali domination going Jake!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we did draw their 2 best pitcher's...Wood not going to give anything easy but ya gotta believe!!!!!

Listening to the Dodger announcers, the Cubs are the worst team in baseball. Watching on MLB channel.

Well it IS Hollyweird,(no offense to CA Cub fans) kind of in their own little world, lol. Hats off to the Dodger's, they shut us down plain and simple. It's good that we are seeing some top pitching. Jake did really good actually, 9 K's (needed 1 more to join the Jon/John 10K club :D)~ like 6 hits? Stinks on the the Gonzales bomb..(only way that turtle can get around the bases is a homer, lol) They just capitalized on the number of hits they had. Wood held us to grounders which is obviously what he does, and he was very good at it tonight. Now, do I call Jake Javy Arrieta or Jake Baez after the play at first? Rizzo looked like, OK, guess I'll Ump the play if you're taking over, lol. I am curious as to whether Joe switches Bryzzo down to the 3/4 spot again tomorrow or at all against the Dodger's pitching. Happ a little shell shocked as expected, but he worked the count pretty well. Was hoping for W for Zobies Bday,,and even more when I saw both STL and Brewers losing. So, no change in the standings today, get to enjoy a 2 day streak in first :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:Earlier game tomorrow for those not out and about over the weekend :thumbsup2
Turn the page , boys!
