Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

so my DS had a pretty important FAA exam today. He was feeling the pressure and one could say it was his personal WC game. My advice to him was simple. Embrace the target and Try not to suck. He passed no problem :thumbsup2

No I was praying for the Mets. All their stud pitchers are hurt except Noah. Hell they would have put Colon in G1 and Cubs would have torn him a new one at Wrigley.
well this team plays up...as in wins against tough teams. They don't quit. I'm sure Queto is salivating at having a redemption game to the one he lost 9/4. Both teams want it~ but I think the Cub's want it just a little bit more. I am odd I guess, I like a good match up over an assumed win. If it was the Mutt's and we won the hater's would be saying we ONLY won because of an unfair battle of pitching.

'85 Bears, '16 Cubs, interesting analogy......

I am not a Bears fan but I can appreciate the comparison. LOVE this pic of Joe, lol:hippie:

Roster announced. 14 Position Players. 11 Pitchers.

In - LaStella, Almora Jr, Coghlan, Montgomery, Grimm
Out - Hammel, Cahill, Smith, Szczur

I feel sorry for Hammel. His record would make him a stud in any other lineup. Of course, I like the other pitchers better so Maddon made the right choice. I really like Cahill better than Edwards. Again, Cahill's 2.74 ERA would make him a closer most places! I hope that won't bite us in the butt. I'm also disappointed with no Matt Szczur. He really has the ability to come in as a PH and make some runs happen. I'm glad that Maddon went with all three catchers.

While really hard to cu to 25 (and I WISH the MLB would alter that to 28) the guys all know it isn't a demeaning or lack of want you there deal~ LaStella is there for his left bat, same with Cog's...and KB usually plays LF when Lester pitches,(but just saw Zobie is there tonight which is the smart move, Baez better at tagging than Zobie)) and LaStella an option for 3rd if Javy needed elsewhere. I think Almora is there as the outfield will be playing hard and we need another fearless guy who isn't afraid to hit the ivy. Pence will do his best to keep them hopping. The Hammel decision could involve the tightness he was having, Joe would have him for sure healthy by the NLCS if needed. Posey does well off Chapman tho, so that is going to have to be dealt with. Szczur gets robbed a bit to me because he is a calm player which is needed, but that calmness doesn't always get things going. CJ held his own facing the Giants delivering 2 SO if IRC~ it's all about the Giants pitchers. I , too, an thrilled with the triple threat of catchers as the Giants steal , a lot. Windy today, and going to be in the low 50's at Wrigley. 5 hours 'till go time!
