Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I'm watching the game on the TV but listening to Pat and Ron on my phone. I tried on my laptop, but the feed was too far ahead of the TV. My phone is a little behind but I find I like that better.

Well, Cubs fans ... tough loss that night. I stayed up all night to watch it. Montgomery threw 4 scoreless innings and then finally gave up a run. I'm disappointed but I knew that this was not going to be easy. I have some thoughts:

(1) We NEVER give up! That home run in the 9th was awesome!

(2) I think that JayHey would have had that fly ball that Almora missed and the Cubs would have won. Almora is a perfectly adequate outfielder, but shoot ... Heyward's defense is freaking awesome. I understand that Maddon double switched Heyward out but I can still be a wee bit disappointed.

(3) What's up with Rizzo? 0-13? This is NOT a time to slump! Maybe he needs a balanced breakfast that includes this:

(4) Can we please have the "lights out" Arrieta and the "lights out" Chapman at the same game?

(5) Montgomery was great last night. He went 4 scoreless innings and I really can't fault him for giving up the winning run. He's not meant to be left in that long. It sucks that he got the loss while it was Chapman who really lost the game for us.

(6) I think the Cahill decision did bite us in the butt last night just as I was afraid it might. Edwards can only go an inning AT MOST and Maddon was saving him as his second "closer" if we got ahead. Cahill's a middle reliever just like Montgomery. He could have gone a few innings.

I'm looking forward to tonight! I hope that the Cubs can get out there and win it. I have tickets for Thursday but I would rather the Cubs rest up than have to come back and win at home.

also when Joe put Rossy in...not sure if you remember but against the Brewers last season Ross pitched a 1-2-3 inning lol....and we were getting to that point, maybe. Lackey hopefully on his game to the same level Lester, Kyle and Jake were. I was really hoping Rizzo was going to start connecting against Bum...he likes those higher velocity pitched but it just wasn't meant to be. I know Chapman was willing to pitch whenever needed but he really, REALLY seems to be on when he starts a clean inning. Good news is we have out bullpen intact tonight, not so sure about the Giants. However, will not surprise me one bit if we go to Thursday we will face a Cueto/ Bum/ Szmardjia scenario, guarantee it. We will have Lester and Kyle (hoping his arm completely fine by then...he should be throwing some practice today) Giants are feeling pretty in control right now, Cubs need to remind them we are still in command of taking this series~and that meas scoring EARLY and a lot. I'm talking to you Riz, Russell, Dex and Miggy. Fowler the only Cub to have faced Moore..I know Joe has experience with him and the Cubs wanted him but the Giants locked him up. Tonight would be a REALLY good time to introduce our offense.

I've been following this thread for this series alone. I will admit that I'm a Giants fan. :teeth: But, my family is from Chicago and my dad has been a huge Cubs fan for as long as I can remember, and he has said he wants to see them win a world series in his lifetime. So, if the Giants do not win this series, I will be rooting for the Cubs. Good luck, Cubs fans. It's been fun to watch! :happytv:

Wow.....all I can say right now. What a game! Glad I can give my nerves a few nights off before the start of the NLCS. It will also be nice to catch up on some sleep! Haha.

The moment Joe was talking to Willy in the dugout, when Cog's had the batting helmet on to pinch hit for Addie...if any of you saw that you witnessed SHEER FRICKIN' GENIOUS! You KNEW something was happening! Using Cog's for the lefty decoy ..and the FS1 guys giving props to Bochy for waiting to see Joe play his hand, lol and then Joe does the double switch. IN HIS ELEMENT!
WE NEVER QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My DS tweet of Willy taking out San Francisco lol

and this was hilarious with Javy....especially since it happened after his ridiculous super human play that almost got Span at first, and then Rossy and Javy got Span stealing!

and Rossy's words last night

“Bus in 30!” Ross hollered. “Let’s take this party to the plane, people! It’s past my bedtime!” :rotfl2::lmao:

Thanks for your support! The Giants are a good team {{hugs}}.

And now, for something funny. A sleeping goat.

Speaking of which, did you read about the Cubs fans who tried to get this guy who owns a "goat grazing" business (who knew?!?) to bring a goat to NLDS Game 4 to reverse the curse. He said 'no' since he's a Giants fan. Then he got the bright idea to bring the goat anyway to troll the Cubs. Since the Cubs won, does that mean the Goat Curse has transferred?

That's awesome!!!

Hubby and I have tried to figure out a way to just be in Chicago for one of the upcoming games but just can't make it work. So cheer loudly for those of us who can't be there!
