Who's been? I am wondering what your hotel choice would be for two adult (ladies) taking a little Christmas shopping/museum/aqauriam visiting trip. Also, is there a Christmas Day parade or anything special going on during this time? Thank you in advance!

We have the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on State Street - and we have the Disney Parade sometime in Dec, where Mickey Mouse waves his wand and as the parade travels south on MIchigan Ave, all the Christmas lights light up....its an awesome day/night.

The Disney parade is usually the Saturday before Thanksgiving or the one before that. I've heard tht Disney has pulled out this year so I don't think we are going to see Mickey anymore. :(

We go downtown every Christimas. It's so fun to shop on the magnificent mile. We also go to State St. to shop at Marshall Field's(which might be Macy's now) and look at the beautiful window decorations. We also shop at Carson Pirie Scott which is a huge store also! Navy Pier is fun and nicely decorated. You can ice skate there if you want. We usually stay at the Courtyard Marriott a few bolcks from the mag. mile. It nice and not to expensive when we go. The kids love to swim there a few days before Christmas. The Field Musuem has nice decorations too.

I'm jealous. I absolutely loved Chicago when I was there in June. Nicest place outside of my home city of Glasgow that I've been.

what is your price range for hotels? If you have a lot to spend, try something on North Michigan, like the Park Hyatt or the Westin. I also highly recommend the Palmer House Hilton in the loop. Absolutely beautiful and very historic

I stayed at the Doubletree suites next to the John Hancock building. They were fantastic suites. I had one all to myself. Two TVs, wet bar, nice bathroom, etc... wow, I'd go back in a heartbeat.
