Thank you Kirsten, it was so hard esp. since I feel like I just brought him home form the hospital 2 1/2 weeks before he went into the hospital. It was weird and sad. I'm sorry you too had to go through it, it's something no parent should have to go through.

Hi, all!

Michelle...I'm glad to read the good news about Roman. Hope he continues to improve.

Piglet...I hope your injury improves with time.

Slo...sounds like your weekend was busy and productive!

TLHB...I think you are prob here now, but enjoy Chicago-- have a great trip!

Hersey....I missed the end of the first Amazing Race, because 6o minutes went overtime, and now have the second one recorded and hope to see all of it. When I watched the first one, they were in Ireland, and that was cool to see because Christopher having been there was saying that he thought he had gone to some of those places. But, it cut out before the end of the show. UGH! I do like to watch that show since it allows me to see places I don't think I ever would otherwise.

EVERYBODY...Is anyone thinking of going to Chicago on Saturday for the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival?? Mark & I are planning to go...I hope the weather holds out! It is always a fun (though very crowded) way to start the holiday season!:thumbsup2

good evening chicagoland homies.

just think, only 4 more work days this week until the weekend.

:surfweb: I have a very early Chamber of Commerce meeting this morning. So I have very little time to DIS,and I have to get Katie up and going super early too - she won't be happy  (<---that smilie being Katie
after I wake her:scared1: )

Morning!

Don't think I posted my MRI results, so here goes. Basically, there is nothing wrong. No tears so no surgery. I do have an injury to the knee cap, but the only thing for that is time. Still can't walk very well, and can not spend a lot of time standing, so I am not sure what I am going to do about work.
That's great that you don't need surgery!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
I'm sorry it's bothering you so badly :guilty: Can your doctor perscribe something for it like an anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxer?

Morning all

It was a busy weekend, but fun! The okay news, Roman is still the same, he had his Dr. Visit and Doc wants to keep him inside until his next appt. in December :faint: But that's good for him, I know!

The good news: Sal and I went on a date on Friday! We talked some, but we looved how quiet it was :) Just dinner and some Christmas shopping without little hands pulling stuff into the cart!

The fab news: I have almost sold 100 items out of my shoppe! That's not even including all the custom orders I have been doing!!! I'm so excited about that too!

How is everyone?? Hope you all are doing well.
Sandy, Date nights are fun right??
PigletToo_-> Hope you figure out what to do about work soon!
Amy--> good luck finding a car! I know what you mean about needing 2! I don't think I could survive if we only had the 1! I love my van! It's necessary with the 3 crazies!!
I"m sorry that Roman is still the same, but it does take time. Katie took over a month to recover when she was 3 months old (from right after Thanksgiving to around New Year Eve). That was the longest month of my life!!! I will continue to keep Roman in my prayers to recover ASAP!! :wizard:
**Congrats on your 100th item sold at your shop - that is awesome!!! :cheer2:

I couldn't agree more!!!! ::yes::

We are planning on going for the parade only. We can't leave home until 4pm, because that's when I close the store. Then we are going to race up there, and hopefully :wizard: be able to get a decent spot on the river to see the parade and the fireworks. I'm hoping the weather holds out too :wizard:

Well, I gotta run and figure out what I'm going to wear today
Have a good day everyone!!

Thanks for the thoughts on Roman, last night was pretty rough with his breathing, thank goodness for the nebulizer! It's naptime, and i think mommy is going to lie down too!!

Hello All!

The sailors are back from the Caribbean waters! It was a great cruise, the weather was really nice, only a bit of rain on Tuesday (literally lasted two to three minutes) and then again on Pirate Night on the ship. That lasted most of the night and the seas were angry my friend. I have no trouble with seasickness and neither did Megan, so I was happy. DH has sea-legs, so he's no worry. They rescheduled the Pirate Party and fireworks for Thursday night and they went off without a hitch.

The food was good... TOO GOOD and I came home four pounds heavier! DANG!

The Magic is a real pretty ship, but I don't think it was the nicest ship I've been on and it isn't nearly as stable as the Royal Caribbean ships I've been on. We were rocking that one rainy night and although it didn't bother me, I heard other people complaining. I did notice one night that the ship really listed toward port side and it actually sort of made me roll over in bed. You could tell by the angle of the room that we had listed pretty good, but then bobbed back up straight. I don't think it was enough to damage anything, but it was noticeable to me. It had to be about 1:00 a.m. Megan and Dan didn't even wake up, so they didn't even notice it.

Castaway Cay is by far THE BEST part of any Disney cruise. Boy, I could just stay there for days and days and days!

Well, I read that Roman was sick, so DMM, I'm thinking about ya! Good job on having that date night! Piglet, hope the knee heals up soon!

Everyone else,

It's good to be home, but I wish I were still sailing the blue green waters of the Caribbean!

:boat:

Sam Glad your home and had such a great time.

DMM I agree with everyone here it took Alex a good month to get over RSV. I can't believe it seems to be so common. Has his doctor suggested the vaccines?

Donna I like Marie Osmond on Dancing I think she does a really good job. I want Jenny Garth to go home this week.

Not to much going on here - same old, same old!!!
I will tell you the thought of Thanksgiving next week is stressing me out:headache: . It never has before, but it is this year because my time at home to get ready for it is so short and limited. Oh well, I guess everything will fall together okay - it always does

Isn't that the truth - I was always very grateful for mine too ::yes::
I'm still keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Welcome home!!!!! :wave2:
I'm so glad you had a good trip - I was thinking of you!!!!!
I'm glad you didn't get seasick like me - that was terrible!!!
I couldn't agree more with you about Castaway Cay - we loved it there too!! :beach:

That's about it from me today
Have a good day everyone!!!

DMM- I've been MIA- what are you selling?
Slo- Glad you had fun at the martini bar. We have one here, too. It has a nice atomosphere, but I drank too many chocolate mint martinis there last year. They went down too well!
Sam- DF and I are doing a Disneymoon and thought about the cruise, too. Do you think it would be fun for couples or more for family?

The kids had there well check-ups. DD grew 5" and gained 12 lbs! Ds grew 3" and gained 2 lbs. His younger sis is 1/2" taller and 10 lbs. heavier! I don't know how he stays so thin! He sure did not inherit it from me! They also had flu shots. Ds did fine, but dd was in hysterics before the nurse came in.
Well, better go shop online at AG. Free shipping on orders over $100. DD wants Bitty's bed and accessories and the high chair. Looks like I am well over the minimum!
Happy Hump Day...the week is half way over!

Sam- DF and I are doing a Disneymoon and thought about the cruise, too. Do you think it would be fun for couples or more for family?

I think it would actually be a lot of fun for couples!! Megan didn't enjoy the kids club that much (only did three "programs") so she was with us ALOT during the cruise. DH & I didn't have much alone time that's for sure. The one hour we did get was spent lounging at the adult pool drinking a really good latte from the Cove Cafe. We really wished we had been able to see some of the adult oriented (not XXX by any means) comedy routines and some of the caberet shows, but that was not happening. So, I thought there were about a million things I could have done had she just enjoyed the kids clubs more. Wine tastings, margarita tastings, tequilla tastings... sigh!

There were several funny comedians and a really funny guitar player on board last week and I would have loved to have seen more of them. Most of them were in the regular shows, but they only did very short routines and then mentioned where they would be later on that evening. The main shows in the Walt Disney theater were the Golden Mickeys, Disney Dreams, and Twice Charmed were all amazing, although Twice Charmed was my least favorite.

The adult pool area is blissful and quiet, but then you also have the fun just outside the gateway near the Goofy pool. Lots of movies on the big screen near the Goofy pool and lots of new Disney movies in the Buena Vista Theater. There is always "something to do". You won't be bored unless you want to be!

The food was very good, sometimes it was even a bit out of my comfort range preparation-wise. I'm not used to fancy sauces and I don't care for mushrooms. Seems lots of dishes have mushrooms?? However, if you are a more adventurous eater, you will be in heaven. Even things I wasn't sure about I ended up really liking. There is a dessert on the semi-formal night called chocolate lava cake that was amazingly good, I could have eaten five more, but I would have never fit into one piece of clothing to go home in! HA!!

The service on board is really great too. People are so nice that I've found it difficult coming back to the mean streets of Chicago, where no one will hold a door for you or smile and say Good Morning. I like the "Disney-World" better. People are much nicer there!

However, as a caveat, we (DH & I) also had an amazing cruise on Royal Caribbean a few years ago too! RCL is often much cheaper than Disney and they have a casino on board. The ship was much larger, far more stable, and it was far more "chic" in its decor. Although there were children, it wasn't child oriented like the Disney cruise. If you swing it right, you could get a Jr. Suite on RCL for the same cost as a balcony on DCL. We sailed the Navigator in 2003, but most of their newer ships are just gorgeous. I have a fabulous Travel Agent out of Galaxsea Cruises and Tours, so if you need someone to help you out... let me know in a PM.

I wouldn't hesitate to do DCL again as a matter of fact, I'm trying to swing a 4 day sometime in 2009 maybe?? For us, next year will be a light Disney year I think. Lots of home projects to accomplish. Maybe just one trip to Disneyland in June or one visit to WDW in October for MNSSHP. It will probably have to be either or.

Hey Chicago folks! Don't mean to hi-jack your thread being that I am from St. Louis and all ;) BUT I have a favor. My sister will be moving to the Chicago area due to her dh having a job transfer. I believe his office will be more on the South side...Downers Grove area? Anyway, they don't need to be close to that, but something not extremely $$$$, but nice, good school district, homey neighborhoods with kids playing in outside, you get the idea ;) Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Hello everyone...it's been a bit of crazy week. Our cat wasn't feeling well, so I took her to the vet. Several $$$ lighter and basically she's fairly healthy for a 15 year old cat & who knows what her issue was. She's on some antibotics and some muscle anti-inflammatories since well...she's definitely OUR cat -- the x-rays revealed she has a somewhat twisted spine which when I asked "is that basically Scoliosis?" -- yep. :lmao: It could be something she was born with since she never goes outside, otherwise the vet would say it would be something you would see if say she got hit by a car or something. She was a little dehydrated too, so since my complaint was "she's not acting normal" -- pretty vague complaint but I knew something seemed off. She seems a lot happier with the re-hydrating stuff they gave her and the original shot. So, I'm just thrilled it wasn't something where we had to make any decisions since the doctor thought it might be her heart as she was doing open mouth breathing just under mild stress but although her heart doesn't seem 100% it's not as dire as he thought it might be. Do you guys ever look at your animal membranes? I'm thinking nose/mouth? I only ask because he asked me "Have you looked at her membranes?" -- As if this is something I'm supposed to just do as a matter of course. I was laughing going No, not usually? Apparently she had a bluish tint (another thing that made him a bit concerned it might be heart)...so no I don't look at my cat's membranes on an every day basis nor would I actually notice if it was a bluish tint to it I don't think. Just the way he asked it was as if normal pet owners do this.

We are going to the Museums Star Wars exhibit next week. I can't wait. I hope it's as good as I've read.

Now the fun thing -- I opened the paper today and there was an article in it about a Bobby Flay Throwdown (on the food network) which we normally do watch. Lo & Behold someone from Geneva is going to be on there. It's for her stuffing. It apparently already aired (which of course was one we missed!) will be airing again on

Hi, chicagoland.

Becky...LOL..nope, I can't say I've ever looked at animal membranes! That was too funny!

Sam..Welcome home! We have cruised Royal Carribean (hundreds of years ago!) & really enjoyed the pampering.

Hersey...I really didn't want Cameron voted off. He was such perfect eye candy!

Pluto's friend...Actually, the Downers Grove area is pretty nice. It sounds like it might be just the kind of place you described as what they are looking for.

Slo..I never seem to get to Michigan Avenue to get a really great spot for the parade...but I just enjoy being down in the city, going to the different hotels to see the decorations (the Hancock Center train display in the lobby area is amazing!). We actually take the train to Chicago and spend the whole weekend in the city. It kind of kicks off our holiday season.

Speaking of holidays....I have a tentative trip to Disney World booked for right after Thanksgiving! We have never been down there to see any of the holiday stuff! Of course, we would do the LOOONNNGG drive again, since I am such a chicken about flying,..but would also try to visit with my sister and her family on the way back. Would love to hear any advice from any of you guys that have gone during this time of year. Thanks!:)

Have a great night, all.

Good evening all. Just a quick note once again.
Sam, welcome home. Hope to see a few pix from you soon. Glad to hear you had a nice time.
DMM, P&PD ongoing for Roman. Hope he continues to get better each day.
Slo, sounds like you had a great shopping day. Enjoy your upcoming weekend.
Not liking the weather change here at the moment. It was fairly nice for the first show I ushered this morning at school, but by the time Nutcracker was over today, the weather had turned awfully chilly. :sad2:
Kellie's first day of shows was uneventful and went well. She had a good time. Seemed as though the audience really enjoyed it.
Well, I'm off to put Kellie's hair in rollers again. Every night for the next 5. It takes me an hour. I so hate doing hair and make-up. That would be why I was into sports and not the girly girly stuff I guess.:lmao: :rolleyes1
Later all.

PlutosFriend the Downer's area is nice not to much $$ and it has a good school district. Your welcome here any time.

Awww, thanks guys! I wish the St. Louis thread was as busy as this one :) I have been trying to look at school districts on greatschools.com. I am not sure how reliable that is :confused3 So many of the public schools in the area I thought were supposed to OK are getting some bad reviews.

oooo, post the link for the st louis thread for me please
If only it were that easy for me! LOL I would just look for it and bump it up to the front page, but I don't think you are on anymore.
