Good morning everyone! I finally feel human again. We had Alex's fun fair last night. Lots of people hopefully it translates to lots of money for the PTO.

I woke up at 3 this morning with a raging migrane. It finally is in remission. Today will be busy I have the usual stuff plus have to start figuring out how to build a castle. That's Alex's last project for 6th grade. Anybody know the parts of a castle?

Well got go research and get something to eat, later gators.

Morning..:surfweb:

Yesterday Geoff stayed at school late for a Model UN thing and got home about 7:30. Eric left as soon as he got home from school and went to a skatebrard park and then to Hen Wing for dinner with his friends and then to lasar quest got home about 11.. Well. I guess they are growing up .. and way to fast for me. I finished the taxes and then asked Dh to back them up 2 times.

Did I mention that I am going to an Oracle user conference ? Leaving Sunday and back to Chi Thursday. It is in Vegas so the weather will be warmer. i don't gamble so I am taking my camera and gonna take pictures.

Mac did you get the candy at Target? YIKES about the cost of gas.. I thing it is only yeah only said with a smirk.. $2,87

Rose I did the PT eval on Wednesday and then PT on Thursday. So I just have 2 exercises to do 5 times per day at home.

SLO thanks for the Spring Thing.. I doesn't feel like spring here maybe later in the week.

Hi all- Happy Saturday-

Donna- sorry to hear things are kinda going wrong for you
Hope all goes well getting both cars fixed :wizard:
DH and I are the king and queen of getting cars fixed, as a few years ago, alot of money spent getting car repairs done and always costing too much money!

Slo- Have fun picking up Kevin's new car today!:cool1:

Becky- Best wishes for your DD's cheerleading competition tomorrow :cheer2:

Hi Mac :wave2:

Leigh- How's everything with your new townhome? Are you all settled now?

Helen29- I'm guessing you are still lurking here :) How did your visit go, finding a possible home here in the Chicagoland area?

Hi to all!

Geffric- I definitely know where Hen Wing is! Haven't been in that restaurant in years!
Have a good conference in Vegas! :thumbsup2 You are leaving tomorrow?

Ok, creepy- You know about the Palatine Brown's Chicken murders and trial....
I used to work about a 1/2 a block from that Brown's Chicken! :scared1:
Seriously, I did. I worked at St. Joe's nursing home on the graveyard shift, that is right next to the strip mall where the Brown's Chicken was. Thank God I didn't work that night the murder took place, as it was a Friday night that the murder took place and I was off most Friday nights. I did have to drive in to work the Sunday night and I saw a couple of police cars still there and the police yellow tape surrounding the Brown's Chicken. I know, pretty creepy!

Hersey- glad your migraine is going away :thumbsup2
Glad all went well with the Fun Fair!
castle... the only thing I know is the drawbridge and the moat. Gotta slay the dragons, too! :)

i read in the paper the past week that the brown's place was sold.

they said customers have really slacked off in going there and business was tanking.

where is mr sun now?
skies are getting gray.

Mac, the Brown's Chicken building itself was torn down about 5 yrs ago or so. The murders happened in January 1993. I think a yr or two later the business closed down and a cleaners opened up where the Brown's Chicken was. Then a couple of yrs after that, the cleaners closed down- for lack of business- due to the creepiness of the murders being in the same building.
Then they finally tore down the whole building, so building is no longer there.
The Brown's Chicken was not connected to the other buildings of the strip mall. It was a separate building standing alone, right on the street.

maybe i was reading the paper section of years past articles.

it did seem strange. deja vu.....

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

good late evening all.
Very tired. Long day. The funfair is OVER!!!! Hurray!!!!! And I am still alive. I think it went well. 5 district elementary schools participated for a first time ever district-wide event. We had no trouble makers and no problems per say so I guess we can thank our lucky stars, and count our blessings. The kids had a great time.
Slo, thanks for the sunshine. Hope everything went OK getting the new car. My DH would love that car!!!
Becky, hope you have a good time and that your DD does well at the cheerleading competition.
Hi Rose, Mac, Debbie, Leigh, Hersey, KimRaye, Jax and everyone else. My brain is overly tired so I am off to bed now.
Talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi Chicagoland thread.
Did you see Chicago won the Olympic bid to represent the USA! That was exciting news.

I know I have been MIA. I have been doing a lot of reading again but not a lot of posting. By the time I go to type my thoughts they don’t seem that important or interesting anymore!

I am glad you guys all sound like things are going well.

Congrats on the new cars:cheer2: and pixie dust for the broken ones:wizard: !

Becky...I bought DD HSM sheets today on Ebay! I am officially nuts!

I am really done with this cold weather:mad: . It does tend to be less annoying when the sun is out but I really could use some nice warm weather to pick up my spirits:yay: ! I just get so much more done when it’s nice out.:laundy: I eat better too!popcorn:: Oh well. See why I haven’t posted:headache: ? I just start whining:sad2: !

Rose...thanks for thinking of me! Where is Jedi?? Hope she is OK.

Geffric...have a safe trip. Try and have some fun even though it's work!

:flower3: Hi to everyone...it is always nice to know you guys are here!!!:grouphug:

Welcome back Bunchkin and Sam! They must be returning soon, right?

Oh and one more thing...I was given 20 points for too large of a siggie:mad: ! I guess my other monorail (which BTW I loved:love: ) was too big:confused3 .
Really.... 20 points... whatever! I feel like the black sheep of the thread:rolleyes: !

Have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

Oh Debbie, I'm sorry, your post made me bust a gut! That is how I feel almost everyday as well! Yep! I don't want to bore anyone, take their time, etc. ;) And yet, I read, read, read to keep up. :thumbsup2 Maybe we've just got that seasonal thing?? :confused3 It should go away with warmer temps and SUNSHINE, right?? :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

So, just so you ALL know here, Debbie & I ARE reading and keeping track and, we care about you ALL :grouphug: but, we're afraid of being boring. Right Debbie?

As for whining, I can do that BIG TIME, ANY DAY! But, I know I shouldn't. :sad2: I have to keep reminding myself how MUCH I have to be thankful for, the fact that I'm HERE to be thankful, that things could be so much worse, and ARE for soooo many, many other people. UGH. I'm stopping here. No pity parties allowed. :rotfl:

I did NOT know Chicago won the USA bid for the Olympics! Great news, thanks Debbie! :thumbsup2

Happy, SUNNY Sunday to ALL! :goodvibes

KIm Debbie Don't worry about having to sound "interesting". Just post. We love to hear anything from you. I if stopped to think if my posts were interesting I doubt I would post anything.

It sounds like we are finally going to have a warm up. Alex goes to see the Cubs win on tuesday for a class trip. So I really hope it warms up and is a great game. Alex's dad is going too so I hope he doesn't bring bad luck. He is a southside fan, I didn't know this when I married him. Was that grounds for and annulment? :rotfl2:

Well I have to go finish my chores that I didn't get to yesterday. I hate migranes not only for the pain, but for everything else they bring.

Good Sunday morning.:goodvibes
Slo: thanks for the sun,how do you put it in your sign? I'm new to this computer thing. I am so tired this morning. My mother in law,who lives in KC, was due to be released from the hospital yesterday and come stay with us for a while. We got a call yesterday am that they were moving her to the ICU and that things don't look good. She is 84 and has alot of major health problems. They think now she has a massive infection. My husband flew down there saturday to be with her. Your prayers would be great.
Becky: how did your daughter do at the cheerleading comp?

Everything went very smooth yesterday with getting the car :car:
The drive was long, but it was worth it - Kevin is beaming with happiness:goodvibes So now we are a 3 car family :upsidedow
The car was at the Speedway Auto Mall in Rockford (I think Rockford. ) This Speedway Auto Mall was pretty impressive - it was huge, with a ton of nice inventory.

Then when we drove home, we stopped in Rosemarie's and geffric's neck of the woods for lunch (the Woodfield area). We went to Outback, got out of the car, went to the door, to find out they aren't open for lunch  I've never been to Outback before, and I was looking forward to it. So then we went to Hooters instead, which was just okay. Nothing ever tastes as good when you wanted something else instead.

Becky - Good luck to your DD at her cheer competition today :wizard:

macraven - Kevin asked me if I would drive it, and I said "NO WAY:sad2: !!!" He said, "why not:confused3 ?" I told him, "I'd be to nervous:guilty: ?" He said, "why:confused3 ?" I said, "because if something happens to that car, I don't want to be the one driving it when it happens:sad2: " He laughed and told me to get a grip and to drive it - so we'll see:rolleyes:

Donna - I'm sorry Friday was a cruddy day  I hope you have a better weekend:wizard:

HERSEY - Alex's project sounds complex :headache: Get a nice picture of Cindy's castle to base it off of. Good luck to both of you on that project :wizard:
**I'm glad the fun fair went well :)

geffric - Have fun at your conference in Vegas :cool1: Be safe, and enjoy the sights!!!!

Rose - That is creepy about working close to those murders:scared1: I'd be so glad to I didn't work that night.

Tiggerrnnnn - I'm glad the fun fair went well :)

Debbie - Please don't ever think we aren't interested in what you would have to say - we always enjoy hearing from you!! :grouphug:
**Thanks for telling us about Chicago getting the Olympics - I didn't know that.

Kim - How's your DH doing? Sending more PD his way:wizard:
**If you ever need to have a pity party, please know we will all join you in that party. We are always here for each other!!!! :grouphug:

Well, I gotta run and start doing things today, even though I don't feel like it. Katie was coughing all night, which means I didn't sleep much last night :sad2: So, now I"m a little tired :faint:

Have a good day today everyone!!

Hi Lisa!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL :guilty:
I will absolutly keep her in my thoughts and prayers :wizard:
Please keep us posted on how she is doing - we are here for you!!! :grouphug:

Your welcome for the sunshine :goodvibes

Thanks HERSEY for PMing her the instructions :)

Well I have to go finish my chores that I didn't get to yesterday. I hate migranes not only for the pain, but for everything else they bring.

Isn't that the truth!!!!!! ::yes::

I hope you are feeling better now :wizard:

I woke up Friday morning, myself, with a killer headache. I can't say it was a migraine, but it was really bad:headache: . It really set me back too on things I had to do. Hopefully we'll both get things done today :wizard:

I think the migranes and part getting older and part I'm trying to eat better. It takes my body a while to adjust to eating the "good" things  It's too use to junk

Hi all-
Last night we met up with my parents, my cousin, cousin's son, and her father-in-law for dinner. It was nice. This is my cousin that her mom (my aunt) passed away in Feb. My cousin's DH is in the naval reserves and he is stationed right now in Texas for a few weeks.

Slo- I wished I knew you were coming my way yest. as maybe I could have met up with you and Kevin and the girls for lunch :sad1: :yay: Tho I don't have money on me right now
Sorry that Outback Steakhouse is closed for lunch :sad2: I haven't eaten there in many yrs. Now I do remember going there when the restaurant first opened about 12 yrs ago or so and I do remember it wasn't open for lunch at that time. I have no clue why Outback is never opened for lunch?
There is a TGI Fridays next to the Hooters you went to yest. I'm thinking, you went to lunch at Hooters? Were the girls with you and Kevin yest? I have never eaten at Hooters and I tell my DH we are never planning on eating there :)
Glad all went well with picking up Kevin's car :cool1: I thought you were picking it up in Indianapolis for some reason?
Well, maybe someday we can have some kind of Dismeet at Woodfield again, like last summer :)

Yes, I also heard that Chicago has won the US bid for the 2016 Olympics!! :cool1: :yay: We actually watched the press conference live on CLTV at 3pm yest.

poohlovermom- Prayers and PD for your MIL  :wizard:

tiggerrn- Glad you survived the fun fair and it was a success! :thumbsup2

Hi Debbie, Kim, Mac, Hersey, and everyone else :wave2:

poohlovermom -- :grouphug: prayers for your MIL.

KimRaye & Debbie6221 -- Don't worry -- just keep posting, posting, posting. :goodvibes I know how you feel so I just post & try not to think about how much I'm babbling on.

For those of you with migraines, have you ever tried the Excedrin Migraine?

I don't think I've ever had a true migraine so can't vouch for it for that but I have had some really nasty headaches -- the Excedrin Migraine is our "wonder drug" :lmao: Even my DH who gets nasty headaches (he's the one who tried these) works everytime for us. I know in the past the regular Tylenol/Asprin stuff would dull the headaches but not always make them go away. Sometimes it can take 30 minutes but once it kicks in, it's great.

Just thought I would throw that out there to hopefully help anyone.

I have a couple hours before heading off to DD's cheerleading competition. I had to make up a basket for the raffle. I saw a couple of the other baskets made up & to me they looked good for little girls. I knew right away that DD would have no interest in something like those. We have as young as "pre-k" category however, I think the majority are probably 3-5 graders. Then the few 6-8 graders. There really aren't that many older girls but I wanted to do a basket for them. I headed off to Target and in there $1 was a bunch of make-up, etc... So, I got a some of eye shadow, lip gloss then they had a section with matching stuff -- notecards, cosmetic bag, bracelet, went and got that then added a pair of cute anklet socks. I came home to see what DD thought, if I did good. She  it and thought the baskets were awesome. She went hunting down for her own money so she can enter the raffle now because she wants one of these baskets. YEAH!!! I did good -- it was hard to decide as we all know how fickle teens can get and I was on the fence on some of the stuff I bought if it was the right choice when I was at the store & deciding between A or B type of things.

The way the raffles have been done in the past is that if your name/number is called you get to choose which basket you want. Of course, knowing my luck some 4 year old is going to pick out this basket and their mom is going to be so not happy with me. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
