Yesterday at work went well - it's so hard to believe that I have only one day left.

To all who asked, my knees are still itchy, but they are getting better - thanks for asking:grouphug: I didn't want them to get perfectly better yet, because I wanted the therapist to see them so she could see what I was describing. I have been putting an ointment on them - something for itching. Today I'm going to go to Walgreens and look at the different products you have all been talking about, so I can make this reddness go away.

Tigggerrnnnn - I'm glad Kellies party went well. How is Tiggs doing?

Welcome to our very happy thread!!!
Please come by often - we would love to have you!!!!! :)

Kim - I'm so glad that your DH's surgery went well and that he was able to come home. I will send tons of PD his way to have a smooth recovery, and not be in to much pain:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
**I'm glad that Kelly is feeling better:)

HERSEY - I didn't see yet that Dan is a grandpa. I did post on his thread that was telling us that Natalie went to the hospital. I'm so happy for them - he will make a great grandpa:goodvibes
**A field trip down here sounds great!!!!:goodvibes

To everyone else - Hi there!!!! :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get Steph up for school:teacher:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good morning, everyone!

KIM...I'm so happy to hear that all went well with the surgery. Yes, it's amazing how fast they kick the patient out of the hospital. Please remember to also take care of yourself while you are doing the caregiving. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

HERSEY...I just posted on Dan's thread...what a beautiful baby grandchild!! (Yes, I know Kim thinks I need GK's, since I am jealous of everyone who colored Easter eggs, but I'm not ready for that, yet!)...but I do appreciate how precious new life is! Oh...did you see that Disney is offering the free dining package again for September? Is it during when you are going?

SLO...I'm sorry you had such trouble with the itching with your knees. I get allergic reactions to stuff, and I know it can be horribly uncomfortable. When I got hives, I would put witch hazel in the refrigerator so it was cold, and then put that on a cotton ball and spread it on my skin. I also get really dry, itchy winter skin each year, and found this year that what worked for making that feel more comfortable was a lotion called SARNA, which I got at Walgreen's. All the best wtih finding something that will work for you.

MAC...As usual, thanks for the tv listings!! I gave up choc for Lent, so haven't been to your blue restaurant in quite a while, but may have to indulge in one of those hot fudge brownie sundaes soon!

ROSE...You go to Willow Creek, right? How were your church services for Easter?

TIGGERN...How is your new fur-baby doing?

GEFFRIC...I'm with you....let's get on with the warmer weather already!

JAX...Welcome to the Chicago thread! Come and play with us often!!!

Hi to all, have a great day today everyone! :)

Donna I did see that about disney, but we are arriving 9/30. With the passes I have the dining plan won't work.

DH was scheduled for 1:30, they took him at 2:30. At 4:20 the surgeon came to talk to me. Everything went fine. It was the largest hernia repair the surgeon had EVER done in his 27 years, 4 plugs on each side!! He said DH could have swelling for months, over a year even. :scared: I got to see DH at 5:20. We were out of there by 6:30. I couldn't believe how fast they 'kick' you out but, the surgeon warned that he might keep DH overnight so, DH did everything they said and, they let us go - Thank God!!! DH will probably be off work for a month tho. :guilty: I need to get back upstairs now tho to check the ice packs and his meds and such. I'm staying home with him tomorrow also.

I am glad he is okay now and back home. But the largest hernia repair.. WOW.. hope he feels better once the swelling goes down..

Thank you for all the well wishes. I hope everyone who needs some well wishes and healthy healing is feeling better today.

I was thinking I would say a bit about myself, just as a get to know me kind of thing. So here goes,

I have 2 girls who are 21 and 19. My husband is in the computer field and works from home. It took a bit to get used to that. They are my dearest loves. I love to read, crochet and enjoy cooking and yes, eating. I am starting a business, cakes and pastries. I have had a few parties, and have another on in 2 weeks.

whew I hope that wasn't too long.

I would love to hear a little about anyone who is in the mood. :)

Morning.. Hope everyone is well today.

SLO - let us know what the PT says about your knees..
I go for a PT evaluation tomorrow. so I'll let you know the Action that they will do..

Well if I stay with the company.. and that is a BIG IF.. they are having the user conference in Orlando last week of October..so we will see..

Geoff's Eagle Project..
In a nutshell..

He had planned that Friday night that he would have 2 other scouts and himself, work with the landscaper that was donating the dirt and gravel to scoop the dirt into his truck and then drive over to the nature center and shovel it off. If there was time, he has going to use the pole hole digger from the landscaper and dig the holes for the two sign posts. The landscaper was supposed to show up at 5:00 pm. He called the landscaper at 5:30 pm and no answer... He then asked the scouts to help him put some holes in the plexiglass for the signs but it was a 2 minute job.. by 6 pm, I feed the boys some pizza. Geoff kept call and calling. Finally he got the parents and they hadn't heard anything either. At 6:30 the nature center called and said they would leave the back gate unlocked for him but they were going home.

So he told the other boys they could go home at 7 pm. At this time, Geoff was a bit depressed and tried to think of some other solutions. He and DH went to the township lot, to see if there was some gravel or dirt they could get. But the lot was closed.

Geoff then felt bad, but he needed to decide if the project was a go from the next day. He planned what could be done and then decided not to call it off - that the volunteers could still cut the trail and place the sign posts. When he could get the dirt donated he would finish the trail.
He made a list of places to contact to try and get some dirt and gravel.

At 8:30 the landscaper called!! He had been working in the yard and not heard the phone. He asked Geoff if he wanted to get the dirt that night or the next morning. Geoff said NOW was good. So DH, DS#2 & Geoff and i went to the yard to get the dirt. Luckily we didn't have to shovel as the landscaper had a bobcat and just scooped up the dirt.

We drove the dirt and gravel to the nature center and the landscapers truck was a dump truck so he just dumped the load.

Saturday morning.. we were up early, picked up the bagels that had been donated by a local bagel store, finished packing the van and car and drove the the nature center. It was 14 degrees wind chill.. BRRRRR

We heated up water for hot chocolate. The scouts started to arrive at 9 am.. The plan had been for the nature center to move the dirt from the lot 3/4 of a mile to the new trail that was being built with a bobcat. BUT.. the nature center guy wasn't there... and the whole area was mud..

so we took wheel barrels and moved the dirt to the trail.. The wheel barrel parade went on all day and it became harder and harder as the mud ruts became deeper and deeper. Geoff's other challenges were that the center of where the trail was supposed to be was a swamp. So his initial plans for the trail were "under water". He needed to devise a way to make a trail that could handle the water. he decided to dig a trench to drain the water off. This worked somewhat but not enough. Then he decided to lay sticks on that part of the trail to give it some stability and to raise it a bit over the swamp and then place dirt over it..

The scouts dug the hole for the sign posts and cut sticks to make the trail. At 4 pm, he called it quits. He will go back to the nature center in a few weeks to see if that works or if he need to build a bridge over the swamp part.

I am very proud of him. he did a great job..

Hi Jax677-
Thanks for telling us about yourself.
A little about myself... I'm a stay at home mom. I have 10yr old boy/girl twins- they just turned 10 last week! I live in the northwest suburbs, close to Woodfield Mall. My husband works about a half hour away from where we live, he works in accounting. Both my children are considered special needs. My DD was born with a complex congenital heart defect. She has had 3 heart surgeries since she was born. Physically she has been doing well for awhile. Not sure when her next heart surgery is going to be. She has her annual cardiologist exam in June/July. My DS has high functioning autism. He was diagnosed thru my school dist at 3 yrs old. He has had extra floortime autism therapy thru the school dist from age 3 until he turned 6. I'm very blessed to be in the school dist we're at. Both my kids are mainstreamed in a regular classroom even tho they have IEPs. They come home with lots and lots of homework each night! That's pretty much it from me :)

Hope all goes well with your catering business!

Geffric- Kudos to Geoff and you!! :cool1: the Eagle project sounded like alot of work in the cold weather.

Donna- Church services were busy for Easter at Willow as usual. We had 6 identical Easter services, 3 services on Sat. and 3 on Sunday. You have to get free E-tickets for the Christmas and Easter services. I know it sounds strange for people that don't know Willow Creek, but it's worth getting E-tickets.

Kim- Prayers and PD for your DH's recovery:wizard:

I'll have to check the CB board and congratulate Dan for the new arrival!

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all.
For those who've asked, the puppy is doing well. Some nights he sleeps all night, but most there is a middle of the night potty trip.
DD got a Webkins stuffed animal for Easter and has been spending every free moment on the computer. If any of your kids have one of these, please let me know. She is just dying to find some "friends" on the computer in her Webkins site.
So now, the puppy has taken a backseat.:rolleyes1 Did I see this coming? So the puppy is my buddy. Follows me everywhere and is always under my feet.:rotfl:
Have some ticket envelope stuffing to do for FunFair today and of course, :laundy: . so I guess I'd better get a move on. Unfortunately, the little elves have not found their way to my house to clean and fold for me.
Have a good day.
Kim, glad to hear your DH surgery went well. Use frozen peas for ice packs. They work great and mold to the sore spots easily.
:welcome: :welcome: aboard our site Jax. We are a great friendly group.
Oh, very disappointed that my friend that I was going to WDW with in the falldecided Sept wasn't going to work for her. Especially since that would have fallen right in the free dining for us. I have never experienced this wonder and was really hoping to do it this year.

Geffric, your son sounds like a wonderful guy. I am so impressed he wants to take care of a trail. Too many people don't realize they need tending to.

Roseprincess, We live in frankfort,, less than an hour on a good day, but head up your way lots of times.

Jax, you are in the near neighborhoods of me, Bunchkin and SamIAm and Slo isn't too far. We just had a movie mini meet not that long ago. You'll have to join us sometime.
Bunchkin is organizing a bowling meet the end of April. The 28th. So watch for news.

That sounds great. I have to say, I am not the best bowler. Okay, I am probably the worst. My husband and I were on a bowling league and I don't think I ever touched 100. :lmao:

I am at a point in my life that I want to venture out and meet new people. I see that this is the right place for that.

Thank you for all the well wishes. I hope everyone who needs some well wishes and healthy healing is feeling better today.

:welcome:

It's nice to read about you and your family!

My family and I live in the northside. We're just a few blocks from Wrigley Field. I have a 12 year old son (in 7th grade) and a 5 year old daughter (in pre-school). My DH is a senior reporting analyst for a health insurance company and also works from home. It took us awhile to get used to him working from home, too. However, I found I really like having him home.

I was a SAHM until a few weeks ago. I am now a nanny for a family with just one baby girl (4 months old). I, too, have been trying to start my own business - http://www.michellevazul.com I am "trying" to be a photographer! If you ever need pictures of your cakes for brochures, etc, let me know!! ;)

Again, welcome to the group! :flower3:

Thanks for the nice words for Geoff. I am very proud. He has a lot more work to do but in about 1 year he will be an Eagle..

jax677 I am in the NW surburbs by Rose. I have 2 boys. My youngest is graduating 8th grade and my oldest is a sophmore. I work for a software company in Sears Tower.

Hi, everyone! :wave2:

Did all of you have a good Easter weekend? It went by way too fast here. My family made it here and back to Pennsylvania without incident. If you're interested, here are some pictures from their visit: Family Visit

The "Welcome to Chicago" box that I made was a big hit. They really enjoyed it. We ended up not going to The Cheesecake Factory just because of the parking issues. We did the Science and Industry on Saturday and then headed to Navy Pier on Sunday. They had a good time, but my grandparents looked forward to going home. My mom is looking forward to coming back without my grandparents!! ;)

I am trying to catch up with everyone here. I hope all of you are doing well! Have a great day! :flower3:

Good late evening all.
Wow!!! It's quiet on this thread today!! Where is everybody.
Jax, I am an RN working in Labor and Delivery part-time. I have 2 kids DD-9 and DS soon to be 7. As I said before, I am from a south south suburb. Some say it's the middle of nowhere (and they're right :lmao: )
DD loves ballet. DS loves soccer. He is a Tiger Scout so you may see questions here on Scouting. As you can see there are a few of us with kids in the Scouts. DH is an IT computer geek!! Me, not so much. So while several people on this thread post nice pics and can really put nice smilies and graphics up, mine will usually just come from here.:rotfl2: Took me forever to figure out how to do a siggie.
We spend lots of time living vicariously through each others' trips to WDW or DL and if you are ever in need of good tips, this is the place to ask.
Hey Leigh, are you settled yet? How's the new place coming along? We're waiting for pix now that you have your stuff inside.
Hope SamIAm and Bunchkin are enjoying their vacations.
Kim, how is DH doing this evening? Hope all is well.
OK the green light is going out. Time for sweet sleep.
Hi Rose, Mac, Hersey, Slo, and everyone else. Goodnight!!

tiggerrn.........i still see the green light on for you...

did you fall asleep on the keyboard?

i missed the thread today.
i tried to go back but too many words.

if we have a newbie, welcome.

now, it is time for all the green lights out..........
have to get up with the chickens in the morning.
did you hear about tomorrow's weather prediction?
i'm a couple of miles from kenosha border, it might hit there at the edge.

sweet sleep

Again, Thank you ALL!!!!
Kim Isn't amazing the things husbands choose to suffer in silence about? And a cold "I going to die and you don't care!":rotfl: I hope you have much patience or your patient. I wish a speedy recovery. Glad Kelly is better to.

Did you all see, Dan is a grandpa :woohoo:
I wanted to quote each & every ONE of you that posted but, I'm limited on time and, it's late. I THINK DH is finally sleeping! Thanks for the info on Dan's GK also!!! I NEED to find that one post before I leave and get back to DH. (He asked me to stay home 1 more day. :confused3 ) I truly, truly, Thank you ALL!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:

Holy Moly is it white outside
21.gif

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside this morning
All I can say is........................BUMMER!!!!!!

Donna - I will try the witch hazel. I bought some hydrocrotisone (sp?) cream yesterday, and it's not helping. I woke up in the middle of the night in an itching frenzy  I will give this cream a couple of more days before calling my doctor.

HERSEY - I'm sorry the dining plan won't work for you:guilty:

geffric - Good luck at your first PT appointment tomorrow:wizard:
**Thanks for telling us about your weekend - I was exhausted reading it :faint:
What an amazing son you have!!!! I'm proud of him, and I've never met him :) Please tell him "good job" from me :goodvibes

jax - Thank you for sharing about yourself :) It's always nice to know each other more ::yes:: When it comes to myself.......I am the mother of 2 beautiful girls princess: princess: Stephanie is almost 9 and Katie is almost 4. Stephanie also dances, and Katie will hopefully dance sometime soon (her activities have been strictly restricted due to a dislocated elbow when she was 18 months old). My DH (Kevin) is a mechanical engineer by day, and then when he comes home he is very active in our volunteer fire dept, where he is a lieutenant (sp?) and fire inspector. I currently have one day left at my present employment (I've been there for 19 years) and then I'm off to blaze a new trail (to be announced soon on what that is). That's about it in a nutshell :teeth:
**Tigggeerrnn is right, you aren't very far from us. Hopefully you can meet up with us sometime.

Rose - :wave2:

Tiggerrnnnnnnn - I'm sorry your friend backed out of your trip  Are you scheduling another time or not going at all?

mvazul - I'm glad you had a nice Easter with your family, and that your boxes were a big hit!!!:goodvibes

macraven - How's the weather up by you? It looked like you may get hit the hardest.

Well, I gotta go get Sleeping Beauty up for school :teacher:
Have a good day today everyone!!!
