it is too cold out.
i'm a short distance from the lake and when the wind blows, i can feel the windows in my house shake.

minus 12 w/wc this afternoon.
not going to be any better tomorrow either.

mr mac has to go to manhattan for a meeting on monday.
i'll have to take him to the train station at 6 am, yuck.
no school on monday and i thought i would sleep in until he reminded me.

from there he will go to work for 2 hours and then catch a cab to ohare and come back tuesday night.

he asked if i wanted to go to new york with him.
i said, "are you kidding, what in the world would i do there while you are in a meeting"..............

seriously, if it isn't a warm weather place, i'm not going.

going to church in the morning, will have all you covered for the week.

Good to hear from you...we missed you!

Hey, Chicago friends...who in the world ordered this COLD weather?? Yikes! I am sure the Bears and the Colts are glad they are *not* playing around here this weekend!!!

Stay warm, everyone, and GO BEARS!:yay:

:thumbsup2 I was thinking this exact same thing when I was bringing DD home from her cheerleading competition!! I thought geez, you would freeze to death if you sat outside to watch the Super Bowl & then remembered, oh yeah, it's NOT in Chicago -- GOOD THING!!!!! DD asked if they would cancel it if it was so cold. :lmao: I had to inform her I don't think they call football games for anything, do they? I know they can still play in the snow, etc... unlike baseball they will call if it gets too rainy or there is lightening.

On Friday, they had all the kids inside the school and were dismissing them by radio to the car line, instead of them all waiting in the designated area. They were all waiting INSIDE with teachers/Principal out there doing the door duty. This is the first time they have EVER done that for cold! :cold: I know that's the procedure for severe storms rather than have all the kids standing out there but I'm not sure it has ever been used. Maybe 1x in all the years my kids have been in school for a spring storm. I was wondering why the car line was taking so LONG on Friday.

I definitely feel sorry for anyone working outside. I'm almost tempted to stay home from church tomorrow -- not because of the Super Bowl but because I really hate the thoughts of going outside. I could definitely hibernate in this weather. Church will probalby be the only place I do venture out. Bring on Spring!!!! :daisy:

Hi all!!! :wave2:

Like Sam said we went out today with the kids. And yes, we are crazy for going out in the cold!! :rotfl: But the kids had a good time! :thumbsup2

Sam Sorry to hear that Dan had to go out in the cold!! Brrrrr!!
Tony came home shortly after we did. He had on so many layers he said that he was actually too warm!!
I hope Megan had a nice nap. :cutie:

Debbie My DH just got done being called for jury duty the other week. He never got assigned to an actual trial though because being the 'bread winner' of the house. They will ask your DH that and that should get him off the hook for any long term trial, but possibly not for anything that may last a day or two.

slo Did Stephanie and Kevin go to HD to make that race car?? How did she like the class??

macraven I would have gone to NYC for the shopping and to squeeze in a show!! :thumbsup2 Or have gone to the Empire State bldg., maybe Cary Grant is still waiting up there???? :rotfl: (from the movie 'An Affair to Remember') ;)

The kids have been having 'Daddy time' since he's been working so much lately. Which gives me a welcome break. ;) I think they are playing Harry Potter Scene It.
But it's time to get them in bed.

Have a nice night all. :hippie:

My DH got called for the 2 week jury duty and I am stressing because he is a tradesman and gets paid hourly so for two weeks he will only make $40.00 a day????????????? That is gonna hurt! Anyone go through this?

Bears_13.jpg

well, when questioned by the lawyers who decide which jury to choose from have him give outlandish answers.

such as, "sir, do you believe in the .......", have him answer, "i believe everyone is guilty until proven innocent."

or something biased as, "i don't care what the crime was, the person is guilty.

they won't keep him then.

First and foremost: GO BEARS! It's bitter cold in the northwestern corner of our great state. I took a "me day" today and went shopping at a local mall--made some great buys at Bergners and Bath and Body Works....then saw Dreamgirls :thumbsup2 and back home for some wine and Dis ing with you!

Today was such a horrible day!

First off, I had to work. We've been fairly busy at work, but I don't think so busy that it warrented working on a Saturday! :furious:

So I took the only express train down there and got there around 10:15am. I decided on the way that it was too cold to walk even the two blocks, so I got a cab to and from between the train station and my office. :thumbsup2 And I think I'm going to expense them. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Actually, I'm going to even see about expensing my slice of pizza that I had for lunch. ;)

I ended up staying until the 4:30pm train, which wasn't an express, so I got into Lisle a little before 5:30pm. So I get in my car, turn the key, and it barely turns over and then it dies! :scared1: So I try again a couple of times, pumping the gas, and it does the same thing. :sad2: :sad1: There were a couple of very nice men parked in front of me who came over to see if they could jump my car, but I couldn't figure out how to open the hood! :sad2: I was feeling around for the latch, so I didn't wear my gloves so I could feel better, so my hands were freezing! Finally I felt bad that they were standing outside in the cold, so I told them to go and I called my dad. He had to come get me. So I finally put my gloves on and sat in the freezing cold car, which was actually better than being outside, at least. :cold: (I did finally find the latch for the hood when the men went away and the pressure was off. I'm no good under pressure.)

When he got there, we called AAA, and there was a 10-15 minute wait to talk to someone, so we headed home. When we were almost there I got someone, and we decided just to have the car towed to the dealership, since I would probably need a new battery. I wonder if I can expense that?!?

He had to leave to go fix these things. It's like ZERO outside!! I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM. I can't even imagine that type of job!! Uggggh!!

Wow, I feel bad for him, too. It's just nasty out there!!! :cold: :cold: :cold:

 Everyone!!!!!! with my teeth chattering! Geesh!!!!!!!!!! It's COLD out there!!! DH just had to go and TRY to start DSs car, AGAIN! This time, no luck. They left the car at DSs work.
I agree with Kim about hybernating but we might do it until about the middle of March!

Well Debbie, this idiot, meaning myself, did NOT hibernate ALL day today. DH & I went out to dinner, alone, unexpectedly. ;) I THOUGHT both the kids would be here but, Kelly ended up being with friends and, Matt had to work so, we went out. DID I MENTION IT'S COLD OUT THERE?!?!?! :rotfl: (LOVE YOUR BANNER, HAD TO QUOTE YOU!) :thumbsup2

BTW, ALL our tees from nfl.com arrived TODAY! Finally!!! :woohoo:

We are ready for Super Bears Bowl!!!!! :yay: :cheer2: Just have to stop at church at 8am so Kelly can sing in choir. :sad2: BAD weather-day for that I have to say. :cold:

STAY WARM MY FRIENDS!!!! :grouphug: :sunny: (I'm going back upstairs where it's WARM!) ;)

The girls woke up to early this morning - I was really hoping to sleep in:rolleyes:

I'm so glad we have no where to go today - I love being at home, all cozy, on a cold day :cold:

lisapezz - You are probably already gone, but I still wanted to say that I hope you have a great trip to WDW :cool1: I can hardly wait to hear all about your trip when you come home!!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

Tiggerrnnn - I'm so sorry to hear of your son having strep throat:guilty: I wonder if that's what I had too. My doctor didn't take a culture, he just gave me the mediciane :) I'll send lots of get well PD his way, so he can feel better soon!!!:wizard:

geffric - I bet you were glad when you were finally able to be home, and stay home yesterday. It was a cold day for running around :cold:

Sam - I'm glad you and Bunchkin had a good day yesterday. I love the Disney Store too ::yes::. Especially the one there in Orland Mall - it's much nicer than the one by us (not that ours is bad). I used to buy Stephanie so many clothes from the Orland store, that now fit Katie :thumbsup2 I have this great Jessie dress, that when Katie wears it, I have so many people that ask me where I got it. Those people are always bummed out when I tell them it's about 5 years old, and not available anymore.
**How was your DH when he came home from work - I felt bad when I read your post about how he had to go out :guilty:

mac - Good to see you, we missed you!!!!

Debbie - Have fun at your Superbowl party today :cool1: I'm sorry about your DH having jury duty - that's a bummer!!!

Donna - :wave2:

Becky - That was good the school dismissed the kids like that - it's to cold for them to wait outside :cold:

Bunchkin - Yes, Stephanie and Kevin did go to The Home Depot for that class, she really loves them (luckily, she gave me to troubles about waking up). She has her own little orange apron, and it's so cute when she wears it. She is very proud of her Tony Stewart car :goodvibes

dzneelvr - I really want to see Dreamgirls, it looks so good :) I'm glad you enjoyed your "me" day.

Leigh - I'm so sorry about your crappy day yesterday  I hope you are able to stay in and stay warm today.

Kim - How nice that you and your DH went out to dinner alone :goodvibes Where did you go?

Well, that's about it from me this frosty Sunday morning.
Have a good day today everyone!!!

I so don't like this cold. My friends husband is in Miami, he has tickets for the super bowl. Lucky him it's warm there.

I have to brave the cold today. Behave today and stay safe.

GO BEARS

Good Morning all!!

Started the day with a yummy breakfast of big, fluffy pancakes and bacon!! :)

I hope eveyone who's watching the Super Bowl today has fun! And for anyone who has to go out to watch it at someone else's place, stay warm!! ;)

Hunter and I will be watching the game, but mostly the commercials.
Tony and Lauren are holding steadfast to not watching!!
Of course when it comes to eating all the munchies I bought they will HAVE to watch it then!! :thumbsup2

Leigh You probably don't need a new battery. Just a jump. I would take your car battery to a Pep Boys or some place like that and have them test it before you go and buy a new one. :thumbsup2
DH just did this with his battery. It was dead when we came back from our last trip to WDW. It just needed to be jumped and run for a bit with the jumper cables on. Sometimes this can take a while. The battery in you car is just so cold that the battery will take a bit to charge up.

dzneelvr :welcome: to the Chicago thread!! :3dglasses

slo Did Stephanie get her orange apron at HD?
Sometimes I wished that Hunter had been a girl so he could have inherited all of Lauren's cute clothes!! ;)

I'm off to go make some yummy brownies soon. I've been promising Hunter I would make them for him. This is his favorite thing to help make! :)

Hi all, happy Superbowl Day!!
Went to church last night and I felt like we were at a Bears pep rally!
Our 2 pastors had on their Bears jerseys on. Had saw some of the Superbowl Shuffle on our big screens at church. It was fun!! The whole service wasn't like that, just the beginning part.

We will be staying home today, making sweet and sour meatballs in a crockpot and ordering pizza later. Pretty much our munchies for the game!
Looking forward to the SB commercials and half-time show with Prince! :thumbsup2 I don't care for all of his songs- some are raunchy of course. But some of his songs I like.

Leigh- :grouphug: so sorry what you had to go thru yest. with your car not starting. Glad your dad was able to pick you up at the parking garage. Does your car start now, or are you still having problems with it?
Believe me, when I was single, this has happened to me a few times. Car not starting and being stranded awhile in the cold, waiting for someone to pick up the phone to get a ride from them, etc. Been there, done that- about 15 -20 yrs ago. And we didn't have cell phones then-had to use a pay phone or just walk home. So I can definitely empathize with you. Hope things get better with your car.:wizard:

Slo- glad Stephanie had a good time at Home Depot yest and make her NASCAR car! We have one of those orange aprons, too! Matthew had a cub scout activity at a HD a couple of yrs ago.

Disneynut- glad to see you here! Sorry to hear that you parents didn't get you a ticket to Disney on Ice.What a bummer. But hope your kids had a good time and you had much needed time to yourself :thumbsup2

Mac- glad to see you back!

Hi to everyone else :wave2:

The dealer can test it and see what it needs. We were just reluctant to have it jumped and then bring it home, only to find out that it wouldn't start the next time we tried. So at least now it's where it needs to be, and they can figure out if it only needs to be jumped or if there's something more that's wrong with it.

Sometimes I wished that Hunter had been a girl so he could have inherited all of Lauren's cute clothes!! ;)

Well I'm glad to hear that Hunter isn't wearing them anyway. :rotfl: ;)

Leigh- :grouphug: so sorry what you had to go thru yest. with your car not starting. Glad your dad was able to pick you up at the parking garage. Does your car start now, or are you still having problems with it?

Thanks. :goodvibes Yes, I'm so glad I had a cell phone! It would have been really cold to have to get out of the car and walk over to the little shelter building. (Although at least it would have been heated! I can't imagine if it was one of the stations where they don't really have a building that's open! Come to think of it, I think my new station that I'll be using is like that! The tunnel under the tracks isn't fully enclosed, and probably not heated. :scared: ) But it was nice to just be able to call from my car. ::yes::

I'm glad yesterday is over!

I'm in a Superbowl square thing from my office, so I hope I win something! That will make it more fun, to be able to see if my numbers come up at the end of the quarter. :thumbsup2 Gambling is fun.

Go Bears!

I'm at work today and I'm not happy! The only people that are coming in are for tax forms. Come on!!! it's too cold!!!! It can wait. There's still 3 1/2 months until tax day people!!

At least I only work until 5, so if I trek out of here, hopefully the streets will be deserted and I can get home in time for kick off? :confused3 And, at least we were given the ok to wear jeans if we wore Bears gear, so I didn't have to dress up for work today. :thumbsup2

sk8leigh - that stinks about your car!! I would be mad, too, if it was after working on a day I don't normally work!

slo - I'm so jealous about the Tony Stewart car! I'm a big fan :thumbsup2 I'll have to see if the Home Depot by me does that so I can take my cousin! (it's fun to borrow other people's kids for stuff like this) :rolleyes1

Can't wait for later!! GO BEARS!! popcorn:: :cheer2: :happytv:

Good afternoon all. DD and I have to go out in this cold. She has an audition in St. John, IN for Peter Pan. I hope after braving the cold weather, she gets a part. If so, the play is at Merriville HS in May.
Leigh, so sorry to hear of your car troubles. That is such a bummer:grouphug: Hope it runs great once you get it back home. I'm hoping I don't come out to a dead car today.
Slo, glad to hear DD and DH had fun at HD yesterday. Wish my DH would do something like that with my DS. I know he would really enjoy it.
Hi to everyone. Not much time. Need to stop on the way at Target for a few things, so heading out now.
Have a great day and enjoy the game!!!! :cheer2: GO BEARS !!!!:cheer2:

Hey Everyone!

Go Bears!!!

Well poor DH didn't get home until 4:00 a.m.! So, figure about 12 hours in the cold! And the worst part, now he's sick! He said he had a scratchy throat yesterday, well of course, going out in that horrible weather didn't make anything better and now, he's sick! He's got a really bad sore throat and just lazing around the couch. Can't blame him at all. Megan has a friend over because she was BORED!! Sheesh! Well at least she's not bugging me. We worked on our Disney Scrapbook for a while this morning and then we finally got moving. I'm getting some laundry done and DH said he's not feeling good enough for a big dinner (yep he's sick for sure), so we are just going to do snacky things for game time. Good enough for me!

Well, I think I may take a quick run to Jewel :cold: for some snacky food.

Take care everyone. This is dangerous type cold.

Have fun watching the game and I'll see you all on the other side of the Superbowl!!

Well we are off to our party (not at my house or I would have invited you all!)...
Be safe, stay warm, and have fun no matter what you are doing!!
Go Bears baby!

Hi all!! :wave2:

I just got done watching the pre-game show and the very beginning of the game. I was really impressed with Billy Joel - it had to have been hard to play the piano in the rain. I'm a real Billy Joel fan - he did great!!!! :thumbsup2

HERSEY - :wave2:

Debbie - Have fun at your party tonight!!! :cool1:

Bunchkin - Pancakes and bacon is my favorite breakfast :goodvibes
**Yes, Stephanie did get her apron at the HD

Rosemarie - We are having pizza tonight too ::yes::. We have frozen pizza though, because around here the delivery times are enormous on Superbowl Sunday.

Leigh - Good luck in your Superbowl pool :wizard:

Jedi - What a bummer that you had to work today:mad: Hopefully you'll be able to make it home quick to see the game.

Tiggerrnnn - How did your DD's audition go today? Was the audition at Lake Central HS?

Sam - I'm so sorry your DH is not well :guilty: Sending lots of get well PD his way:wizard:

Well, my oven is now pre-heated so I better go throw in my pizzas
Have a good night everyone, and have fun watching the game
