I got several of the blank e-mails too. I knew the DIS had been sluggish before it went kablooy (is that how it's spelled? -- think of something a cartoon character would say. :lmao: ).

No major rainstorms here just a few off & on with very ominous looking sky outside.

I have to take DS-10 to karate and then woo hoo -- done with stuff until after Spring break. Although I'm very perplexed with gymnastics! DD is supposed to have a meet on either March 31 or April 1 with some open gyms during spring break. Her last class was Monday, we got no information. Her next session starts April 4. I'm just not that good of a mind reader to try to figure that one out. :confused3 I did double-check the book to see if the last day really was Monday & it really was.

OH BOY -- just got a bunch more blank e-mails! I'm thinking they are ones telling you there are replies to your subscribed threads, it's just they ate the information before it got to you.

Yep count me in too on the blank emails. Must have been trouble in dis city.
Lost sounds like it"s going to be good tonight. I wonder what Locke is hiding? He has gotten to weird lately just like the "others".

i just received 11 more blank emails from the webmaster.

if it was a notice to one of my subscriptions, the thread would be listed in the heading but it's not.

just from the webmaster.

i'm calling it a night, i think i am sick.
catch you all later.
i'm going to bed and then get up for AI then back to bed again.

Hi Everyone! I only got 3 blank e-mails! wonder what happened? any clues?
anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful welcome and for answering my list of questions. I will feel right at home when we get out that way!
If you all don't mind, could I ask a few more questions? I was wondering if any of you live in or around Huntley or Hamshire? it seems that my husband has now thrown those two towns into the mix now to be closer to work. We have been looking for new developments and boy are there a LOT of them!
I have been reading a lot of good things about Chicago and the surrounding areas but I'm sure there must be a "not so good" area? here in California it's really crazy! the "good areas" are quickly turning into "not so good" areas due to gang activity. It's truely SCARY!:scared1: :scared1: I don't want my kids in that environment if I can help it.
Thanks again for any info you can give me and I'll be sure to send you some sunshine and 80 degree temps.!:flower3: :flower3: Helen

You guys are making me feel bad for you. :guilty: 1st, everyone was all :woohoo: "It's Spring!!!" :flower1: Then I read, "It's pouring the rain & colder than before." :umbrella: :cold: Come on down! :drive: I'll share some sunshine with you. :sunny: I hope tomorrow brings a brighter, warmer day. :flower3:

Oh yeah, I also hope the DIS starts cooperating & quits shutting me out. :headache:

(Do ya think that's enough smilies? Okay, one more. :rotfl: )

Hi Helen,
This is kind of off topic, but I thought I'd offer some advice from someone who's had to move a few times too many. My DH used to get transferred fairly often. We once made the mistake of buying a home without personally knowing the area. People had told us it was a great neighborhood for a young family. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for us to regret it. Then we were stuck trying to sell the house. Every move after that, we visited the area on a couple long weekends & drove around checking everything out. Every place we ate, shopped, etc., we asked people where the best place in the area was to live. (I do mean every! :rolleyes1 ) Most of the time we were told, "If I could live anywhere around here I wanted to, I'd live in *****." That lead us to the area we actively looked to rent in. Yes, we rented a condo or nice apartment. Sometimes we paid a lot for rent, but we knew we were safe short term until we found a home in our long term budget. No way I would buy again without getting to know the area myself. We spent about six months getting to know the surrounding areas, then looked into buying a home that was in our price range. One major thing I learned is that we don't all perceive an area the same way. Some people wouldn't live anywhere, but in the middle of a major, metropolitan city. They can't imagine why anyone would want to live in the burbs. Others are the opposite. Some people think an area's dangerous, when another thinks it's a great place to live. It's great you're getting lots of helpful advice here. That will definitely help in the search. If it were me, I'd use that advice to find a place to rent for a few months to make sure I was in the home that was meant for me. :)

PS: I haven't had time to read the entire thread. I hope I'm not totally off-base here.

WOW! That's really good advice! :thumbsup2 It's true what you say, though, everyone's opinions are different. Look at how mixed hotel reviews are in Trip advisor :rotfl:

i have received 18 blank emails from the webmaster. it has my name and dis webmaster name but no message....
anyone else get these today? Yes I got a bunch too.. what is up with that??

I finally got myself a digital camera. :cool2: pirate:

i'm calling it a night, i think i am sick.
catch you all later. quote] How are you feeling? There is a lot of Flu and cold stuff going around..

see ya all tomorrow.. been really crazy at work - end of the qtr stuff.. hope everyone is okay..:grouphug: pirate: :cheer2:

I hope everyone is well this morning.

Mac I hope all you needed was sleep an not sick sick

Ok who keeps moving the smilies?

tarheelmjfan you are welcome to bring sunshine (and mickey bars) anytime.

helenm29 Huntly and Hamshire are both newer communities. I don't want to scare you but gangs to a degree are just about everywhere. When you narrrow done your list of possible neighborhoods contact the local police dept and ask what crime stat's are. If you have a trusted friend that lives around here have them drive around a different times early evening, weekends when people are home to see whats what. Kind of overwhelming isn't?

I see we are still getting blank emails.Yeh!

I bought a canon a540 nothing fancy since I am new to the digital world. Since film for my camera was getting expensive and hard to find I thought I might as well take the jump.

I have a proud mom moment to share with you all.

Last night was special person/grandparent night at Steph's school. I went with her, because they said only one grandparent, and I didn't want her to have to choose between my parents and my in-laws. So when we were there, one of Stephanie's friends says to me, "are you her mom?" I said, "yes". The little girl said to me, "she talks about you alot" and I said "is it nice things?" and she smiles and says "yes". Boy did that make me feel good:goodvibes Then Stephanie's art teacher told me how much of a joy she is, and how she's such a good child, and very good in art - that made me feel so good too:goodvibes I just wanted to share that with you all.

Tiggerrnnn - Did you go buy alot for the new puppy? :dog: I can hardly wait to see a picture of him!!!

HERSEY - I did see the trailer, and I'm so excited!!! pirate: Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A pirates life for me!!! :teeth:

Jedi - I have your rain now :umbrella:

macraven - I've gotten a ton of those empty emails too ::yes:: I wonder whats going on

Rose - Thanks for the prayers for my friends DD. They already got the results and they were negative :woohoo: There is nothing more strong than the power of prayer

Becky -

Helen - You can always ask as many questions as you want. That's what we are here for :teeth: I'm sorry I can't help you though, because I'm in Indiana.

Tar - I may take you up on that invite. I love Florida!!!! :sunny:

Well, I'm off to get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

good morning chicagoland homies!!!

IT IS WAKE UP TIME

didn't do good on sleeping last night. too much coffee i think.

still feeling lousy, think it is an intestinal thing i have but have to work today and tomorrow. carmen, we will make plans for the alternative day, ok?

slo have her in my prayers.

i started to wonder if , by now have received 26 blank emails from webmaster, they are warning notices

moving slow here.

more storms today. take an umbrella with you all if you go outside today

catch you when the school bell rings......:teacher:

Morning.. it is muggy and warm this am but I have heard that it will get cold later in the day..

helenm29 you have had good advice here. but also remember that Chicago gets snowy and icy in the winter so any commute is 2 or 3 times as long in the winter. The areas that you have mentioned are awfully far out.. check the school districts in the area ( both grammer and HS) see how they are scoring.. will your kids get a good education there.. how far to shopping, etc.. closer in to the city and good public transportation is schuamburg, roselle, hoffman estates, palatine, rolling meadows, arlington heights and mt prospect..

well I am back downtown today, end of qtr and all.... talk later..

No problem, mac. :goodvibes

slo - you must be gleaming with pride! :) That's too sweet..

DH is in London and he already emailed me to say how traumatized he is about the cab fare to the hotel from the airport out there. See, when I travel, I research this stuff ahead of time. He's only been there for a few hours and already he's realizing how expensive Europe really is  (I coulda told him that) :rolleyes1

Good Thurday morning!!!

The sun just came out here!!!

Woohooooo!! :yay:

I'm sooo excited about our trip!!! UPS delivered our DL documents yesterday!! I was like a little kid going through it all!! There was a few extra goodies in the package including this cool magical dream coin! The kids made a wish on it! :goodvibes

DH has been working like crazy lately! I'm afraid by the time vacation rolls around he'll be too exhausted to have fun!! :faint:

slo That was nice to hear good things about Stephanie!! :goodvibes

jedi I meant to tell you that 2 nights ago on Access Hollywood I saw Toby in a clip they did for the show he tried out for!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!!!
What did he think the cost of living was in London??? Everyone knows it costs a fortune to live/visit there!! ;)

mac Hope you're feeling better soon!!
I got my 1st blank email from the webmaster this morning! :) At least it wasn't as much as some of you got!! ;)

helenm29 Good luck with your continued house hunt!! I don't know much about that area, as I live in the south suburbs.
I remember some time ago coming across a web site that provided criminal stats for cities. Maybe you could do a search of that.

Really!!! We missed it!! He knew it would eventually be on Access Hollywood but he didn't know when. Ah well.... Yeah, that was the Vegas thing.

I woke up with a headache today. Allergy season must be here. I always get this every Spring and every Fall. Meh.

You must be SOOOO excited about DL. Oh, Bunchkin!! I forgot to mention - the Book Expo (Bookseller association trade show) I'm going to this May in NY, Bon Jovi is gonna be there!! He's writing a book and I know for sure that he's doing a benefit concert for the show, but if I find out he's autographing (tons of authors autograph at this show and the books are FREE!) I'll try my hardest to get you a copy! :thumbsup2

HOLY COW!!! :faint:

I would be dying with excitement if it was me going to that Book Expo!!!

I didn't know he's writing a book. Wow!! I wonder what it will be about? Him, or his band, or a totally different genre?

Bon Jovi has a new song out!! It came out the other day. And the new CD will be out in June.
I have marked on my calendar already all the tv shows they will be appearing on!! :rotfl:

If you can get me a signed copy of his book I will glady take you out for lunch or dinner as a thank you!!!!! :yay: :) :cloud9:

Just to hold something that was in his hands....... :faint: :faint:

:rotfl: ;)

Morning everyone.
:sunny: here right now!!!!! After it poured this morning and was so dark it looked like it was still 5am at 8am. I hope it warms up. I think a walk is in my afternoon plan.
pixiedust: to Mac and Jedi. Hope the two of you feel better soon.
Sandy,:) isn't it great when you know you are your child's most admired person? (At least for a little while)
OK lots of shopping to do for the new puppy. I had planned to use the old bowls we had, but DH pointed out that they will tip easily and we will probably have a mess daily. Soooo, new bowls $, toys$, chew toys$$, vet bills$$$, crate (borrowed thankfully), look on children's faces-priceless. I figured we'd hit PetsMart tomorrow (or WalMart)and walk up and down isles and put things in the cart. Figured the kids would have a good time doing that.
Went to the library last night and DD now has lots of puppy training books to read.:rotfl2: The puppy will train us just like all the other dogs we've had!!!!
I do plan on obedience training classes this time. No need for a 90lb dog to drag my DD down the street on a walk.:lmao:
Well, better go get the organizing of this house finished. Have a nice day everyone.
Rose, thanks for the congrats to DS. This was my first pinewood. It was fun.

Really!!! We missed it!! He knew it would eventually be on Access Hollywood but he didn't know when. Ah well.... Yeah, that was the Vegas thing.

It was in a short teaser. And they had a really nice close up of him and other people in line with him. They only showed a few people. :)

I totally have that allergy thing going on too! :(
But I knew it was coming and started back up on the prescription allergy meds a few weeks ago. Although that doesn't help with the sinus headaches too much! :(
