I hope your birthday was wonderful on Sunday!!! :goodvibes

Becky - Good luck to your DS with his new french horn:wizard: Kevin played that in middle school band. The first couple of weeks will be rough on the family - buy some earplugs:laughing: I think my parents wish they would have done this when I first brought home my Clarinet :rotfl: .

Bunchkin - I did get an email from Tastefully Simple about new things for fall, and it all did look wonderful. I didn't save it though, because I'm not home much to cook it (I"m starting to really miss that).
**I'm sorry that the heart monitor irritated your skin - not good!!! :sad2: I hope that starts to feel better soon. When do you get the results from when you were wearing that?
**I'm sorry you aren't feeling well :guilty: I sure hope that cold goes away soon, and you start feeling better:wizard:

DMM - I"m glad the baby is doing well!!! :goodvibes

HERSEY - I may call the city of Hammond today and see what they say. Actually, I may have Kevin call - he gets farther than I do with things like this (I'm sure because he's a man, and some people don't take woman as seriously)

piglet - I'm sorry that Tastefully Simple didn't work out for you:guilty: Do you miss it, or no?:sad2: SamIAm used to sell Tastefully Simple too.

Donna - How nice that you didn't have to be home during all those storms:) I"m glad you had a nice time in Door County :goodvibes

bigben - Great show last night!!!! :) You really kicked some butt with having to walk faster in that heat, and then winning the challenge :woohoo: :yay: Was that mud rap as good as you said it was? I've never had one, so I know nothing about them.
**Question - how did you find out about this show? Did you have to audition, or send in a story on why you believe you should be on the show?

Well, that's about it from me - time for Stephanie to get up
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy belated Birthday Geffric!

Slo ~ I really do miss it, a lot. I loved doing shows, but just could not get bookings. My re-order business was good, but not enough to stay active.

Michael ~ Loved the show last night, and was so happy when you won the challenge. As for the vote off, I think he knew it was going to happen, and may have even wanted it a bit.

From my memory (and the list that Bunchkin listed) the pumpkin bread and chocolate ugly cake are not new. Never did make the cake, but we LOVE the pumpkin bread. It was by far my biggest seller last fall.

Happy Tuesday morning!

The new school year has already started off on a sour note. :sad2:
I found out last night that Hunter's seat partner on the bus has called him names and has punched him!!!!
The bus is all kindergarteners by the way.
So of course this morning I shared that with the bus driver. And she said there would be a seat change!!
We have always told Hunter to stick up for himself but to also not fight with people. We just had a conversation with our neighbor last week. She was asking our advise on what to do about a boy that hits her son when she has also taught her kids "no hitting".
:headache:

slo I hope Kevin has some luck with his phone call to the city of Hammond.
I'm not sure if my doctor will call me or just wait till my next appt which is in Oct. There's not much I can do except to take the beta blockers he prescribed for me. I have to see if these work. If not I might go up to a larger dose of it.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!! :flower3:

bigben Congrats to you on winning the challenge!!!
So did you already take your trip to Vegas that you won?? :teeth:

piglet I should have said that those items from T.S were limited time only, not new. ;)

mac Thanks for the tv listings again!!! ::yes::

DMM Glad to hear the baby is well!! :goodvibes

Well i'm home from the Doc and the baby is fab, but no date yet! I'm happy he is doing well, but really want him out!!

DMM, I know you are hot and uncomfortable, but don't rush it. The majority of the baby's brain growth (as well as the lungs) occurs in the last month. Hang in there!!! We need lots of smart kids in this world.

Morning all!!
Bunchkin, :wizard: hope you feel better soon.
BigBen, I was interrupted last night watching the show, so I'll catch it on the internet today.
Slo, hope you have luck with getting the city of Hammond to pay up. Once again, people in the wrong get away with something. It is so sad for the honest folks. Congrats on the sales returning.
Geffric, Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a great day.
Well, got run.
Time to start school review.

aww you are the voice of reason :) Thanks!

Alright today i am hot and sticky, who knows when the temperature just decided to start climbing and NOT stop! :faint:

Happy birthday a bit late Geffric!!!

Hope you all have a great day!!

Hi, hot Chicago!

Happy birthday, Geffric...how did you spend your special day?

Hersey...Christopher told me that Binx followed him all over the house the day of the storm...Chris said it was like Binx had a leash on, he was that much of a shadow dog! Binxie doesn't like *normal* storms, much less that kind.

Bunchkin..yes, we did have another good trip. It just makes me wish we were already retired, so we didn't have to come back & go back to work, lol.
I hope you start feeling better soon.

Michelle...hang in there...it will all be worth it when you get your precious baby!

Slo..glad to hear your business is picking up!

Ben..I actually watched the whole show last night for the first time...congratulations on winning the challenge! I am also wondering about that mud bath, how did it *really* feel?

Tiggern..Mac..Rose...ALL...hi to everyone..have a good day, stay cool!:cool1:

Thanks guys,

Alright the "mud bath" was really cool. It was a mix of seaweed and wasabi and some other stuff. I have not gone to vegas yet but I will soon enough. I can't wait.

hey Sandy,
How I got on the show. A friend of mine sent me an email with the link to the show's casting site. I filled out the app. and the next day was on the phone with a casting agent for an hour. Two weeks later I was in the air fling to LA for the second partwhich was the physical, stress test, psyc evaluation, and the on camera interview. Then it was 3 weeks they said I was on and 3 weeks after that I was on flight to Boston. Thats it in a nut shell.

Becky - Good luck to your DS with his new french horn:wizard: Kevin played that in middle school band. The first couple of weeks will be rough on the family - buy some earplugs:laughing: I think my parents wish they would have done this when I first brought home my Clarinet :rotfl:

Turns out I'm spared for another week. His lessons start NEXT week. Some kids did start this week though, so his aide put that in his assignment notebook but apparently she was confused too. Ahhh...the beginning of the school year where none of us know what's really going on. ;)

I'm a bit confused by the letter I got for the after-school band thing but I will get that figured out. I can't tell if DS is staying at his school or ??? Looks like it which is a BONUS for us -- especially since my 10 year old is a bit of dawdler and I could so easily see him totally missing the bus or something. It works out well if it's really Tuesday because we have already made a tentative plan for some tutoring on Thursday nights and it would have been tight. Doable but tight.

Poor kid has lessons practically right after attendance -- NOT going to be good for the teacher the first week -- his mind is so going to be on the instrument that first day wanting to get the day over with to go play with it. Although, I suppose that's better than the other way around of wanting to know "is it time yet" for him to go to lessons.

Michael -- I just have to say, after walking to go get the boys from school today, I would have croaked doing the Fat March in the heat wave you guys were doing it in on last night's episode. We live LESS than 1 1/4 miles away from the school and I think I was ready to pass out :faint: when I got back home today until I got some water in me (plus wearing jeans was probably not the best idea for a walk) -- so less than 2 1/2 miles maximum. Although, then I did wonder was the camera crew also walking or were they in a van or something since they basically had to film the entire thing and then decide how to edit it all, I would think. If they were walking, they were probably having a hard time too with lugging camera equipment at the same time.

Geffic -- Happy Late birthday. I hope it was great.

Hello to everyone else!!!! I hope you are all staying nice & cool. I know I don't have plans to venture out very far the rest of the evening.

WOW! That seems like it happened really fast! Maybe it wasn't but just reading it like this seems like it. Sounds about 8 weeks from the time you filled out the application until filming, so I guess it wasn't that fast but basically a "you are on the show you've got 3 weeks to get your stuff together to go on the March" -- ACK! OK...I'm much more of a planner for that so it would have thrown me for a loop with such a short timeframe (hey it took me 2 years of planning for our first Disney trip!!! and we aren't planning on going again until 2009 & I'm semi-planning already!).

Becky, we rented a clarinet for Matthew last Sat. Matthew is going to try the 5th grade beginning band. The clarinet was the instrument the band teacher thought was best for Matthew, he seems to be interested in the clarinet. Looks like a lot of kids doing 5th grade band at our school may be playing the clarinet or flute.
Anyways, Matthew's first band lesson is next week, in the evening at our base jr. high. I guess they want the parents to be there at the first lesson, according to the flyer I got the other day. We'll see how long Matthew wants to do the clarinet. After next week, band lessons are going to be at his school until November, then they get moved to our base jr high school from Nov. til end of the school yr.
Best wishes to your DS doing band, too!

Hi to all :wave2:

Quick drop-in. Just went back to catch up on Fat March, uninterrupted by kids or phonecalls or friends dropping in. Michael, great job on winning the challenge. Enjoy your trip to Vegas. I hope the rest of you all get through it now. Everyone has done a great job!!!
Night all. Dog goes to the vet in the morning for a snipping.:rolleyes1 Hope he's not too sore tomorrow night. They say to keep him calm and quiet when we bring him home. Yeah, right!!!:rotfl2: :lmao:

:surfweb:

piglet - The shows do like they'd be fun to do :) I'll have to try that pumpkin bread - it sounds yummy!!:goodvibes

Bunchkin - I"m sorry to hear about Hunters problems on the bus :guilty: It's always so hard to hear about your child getting picked on. I hope the bus ride is easier for him once he, or that little brat, is moved.

Tiggerrnnnnnn - How is Kellie and Kyle feeling today? Continued PD for them:wizard: :wizard: Good luck with your dog today - I"m sure he'll be fine:)

Donna - How is Christopher's job hunting going? Is he returning to school this fall, or is he done for now?

bigben - Thanks for sharing about how you got onto the show - very interesting!!!:) Do you know any details about your Vegas trip? Have you spoken to Will since vote off? I was wondering if he's continuing to get his weight down, or if he went back to how he was prior to the show.

Becky - You can enjoy your long weekend in peace and quiet:cloud9: In all seriousness though - good luck to you son with starting band. Some of my best memories from school have to do with band - I loved it!!!! :goodvibes

Rose - Good luck to your son starting band too. You may want some earplugs too - he'll be doing a lot of squeeking:eek: If you don't know what I mean by that, you will soon enough

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, that's about it from me today
Have a good day today everyone!!

Just a quick driveby.. glad everyone is dry..

I have had a few mechanical issues too..

The dishwasher saga - it went confused and crazy, wouldn't work- this is the new dishwasher that I bought last May, so I called the manufacturer and they scheduled a repair person to come out.. waited 1 week, kids were washing and drying the dishes. He come out and says that he has to order the part will call us in mid September and come back and fix the dishwasher.. HUH?? So I fumed a bit for a few days and the boys washed and dried, and then called the manufacturer . Told them that it was very unsatisfactory to not fix it right away. The customer service person said she would next day deliver the part... then i went on hold while she did her job.. she came back and said.. that the part was backordered and wouldn't be in until mid September..NOT the right answer.. so she started the paperwork to get an approval for a replacement dishwasher.. that took a week and lots of call and call to the ctore and the store called.. thanks LOWES. Then I got approval and talked to Lowes.. they had to wait for the credit from the manufacturer and then scheduled the replacement for delivery.. So I have been without dishwasher for nearly a month and it is supposed to be delivered today.. YEAH>>

In the meantime, one day in a few weeks agao, my frig wasn't cooling and the ice cream was melting.. so I went online and found an appliance repair site and it said to vacumm the coils.. sounded good to me.. so i took off the grate and vacuumed the cat hair et al out..frig worked fine.. for about a week.. Then I got home from work on Monday at 6:15, had to take geoff to scouts at 6:30.. and there was a pool of water by the frig and it was too warm and melting the ice cream again.. empty the frig into the garage frig and left for scouts.. Eric had a football game so Scott and Eric didn't get to scouts until 7:30.. so I got home and clean the water and tried to figure out what to do...

Yesterday morning.. more water and temp in the frig was very warm..melting of ice in the freezer, more water, the condenser wasn't coming on, the fan wasn't working, I tried to get a repair person to come out but they couldn't see me until next week..more water on the floor.. Now i am especialy perinoid about the water since I had pergo put on the floor during the remodel last spring.. So at lunchtime, i went to lowes and bought a new frig..by last night, the temp in the frig was over 70 ... but this morning.. the frig appears to be working..:confused3 go figure..

Thanks for the b'day wishes.. on Sunday we went to my bothers and helped them empty the basement and wet vac and clean up after the flood.. so nothing special..

but the boys got me a mickey wine bottle stopper.. so I was very happy and last night opened a bottle of wine so i could use my Mickey stopper..Of course it had to be red wine as I had not room in the garage frig and the one in the kitchen was playing dead..

so much for my saga of woe..

Morning Chicago  we're expecting rain today! Blaaahhhh!!!

How is everyone doing??

Bunchkin, that stinks about the bus problems :sad2:

Good luck all the new band moms!! I know we drove my mom and dad nuts with our instruments playing all the time (Me clarinet, Sis Trumpet).

Have a great one everyone!

PS--> New dancing with the stars cast list is up! :yay:

Happy Wednesday!

Geffric...sorry to hear about your dishwasher probs. Hope you get it straightened out soon. I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday wine & got to use your special Mickey stopper!

Bunchkin...how is the bus ride going for Hunter?

Slo...Christopher is still very busy searching for that job! He's not planning on going for a master's just yet...know of anyone looking to hire a super computer graphic game designer?? Thx for asking about him!

Becky/Rose/others with band students...enjoy! Music is one of life's pleasures...and you guys know that my son Brian is a high school music director...he teaches band, chorus and music tech...so obviously, I think music is a great thing!

Tiggern...hope your doggie is okay...hugs for you!

Everyone...have a GREAT day!

Morning all!!

Hunter didn't have problems on the bus yesterday. And today I asked the bus driver if she was moving Hunter or the other kid. And she said she is letting them move where ever they choose so she can see who meshes with who. :confused3 And of course because he wasn't told he could go sit somewhere else, Hunter sat in the same seat this morning. I would rather the driver just tell them where to sit since they are all just little kids.
I'm going to have another quick talk with the driver this afternoon when Hunter gets dropped off.

slo You know what I'm finding very hard to deal with????
We teach our kids to be fair, not to hurt others and to be respectful. And then there comes a time when you have to contradict what you've told them by telling them that if someone won't be nice and stop hurting them that at some point they may have to punch back. I just had this conversation with some of the neighbors. :sad2:

Tiggerrn How old is your puppy now?
Hope the kids are doing better. Has Kyle started talking?

geffric Wow, have you had a lot of appliance issues lately. I think your Pergo will be fine since it's not real wood. Just clean up that water and not let it sit. I hope all the appliances work out better for you!!!!

DMM I'm excited to see Cameron Mathison at DWTS!!!! I have no clue how he finds time for all the extra shows he does besides AMC.
He also does 'I want to be a soap star' and ' Instant beauty pageant'.
