DMM...Hope you are doing okay with the heat...are Autumn & Gabriel excited about the new "arrival"?

I'm staying inside as much as possible :) and all our activities are on the weekends when I had DH to help me with the kids, so i don't get to overheated, so it's not too bad :) During the week, we hit the backyard early in the morning and later in the evening, just to stay out of big sun ::yes:: Autumn is thrilled and keeps saying BABY over and over again, she likes to put her ear to my belly and laugh and then kiss it. Gabriel, really doesn't seem to care much ;) i think he likes being the baby!!

DMM hi how are things at your end? IS there anything else they can do for the Carpal Tunnel or are shots it?

Tired and Busy :faint: but other than that realllly good. They tried splinting my wrists back when it first happened, which helped a LITTLE, but the type of work i was doing then, made it near impossible to keep the splints in, since they made me imobile in the wrist area and now with 2 little ones and my jewelry making stuff, it was even more impossible to wear the splints, so we went straight to the shots. I also had a bad rash again (had it with Gabriel) that I was putting a cortisone cream on, but the shots cleared it up right away! :woohoo: so it was doubly good.

Dropping by to say :wave2: to all the chicago diser's!

I am near Starved Rock and will have to take my kids to the Starved Rock Lock. Very cool!

Yes, you must!! ;) Seriously, I grew up near Rockdale, so we used to run down to the Brandon Rd. lock and watch them lock the barges through. Never realized back then how many people didn't know what a lock was or had ever seen one.

Starved Rock has nice camping too. Our troop goes there every year, plus there is a really nice lodge and a GREAT Sunday Brunch..:thumbsup2

Phenominal Brunch!! And if you love cajun food, Ron's Cajun Connection in Utica is some of the best in the midwest!! Well worth the drive. Ron's got customers that come all the way from Wisconsin just to eat his food.

We have gone for breakfast with Santa & the Easter Bunny and few other family events. We love the lodge!

I have always wanted to try the Cajun Connection. Never had cajun food unless you count zataran's....:rotfl:

Becky, we had a 10 second long CRAZY LOUD thunderstorm, super winds, pouring rain, scary stuff and then BOOM it was gone! They said it headed your way to Kane County.

Oh good...I feel better knowing it was only about 10 seconds. Last year the poor girl spent 1/2 her time in the storm shelter including at least one time going into the safe room within the storm shelter. It's really hard not being able to check up on her (I guess I *could* call the camp director but figure they got more important things to do, like making sure all the girls are safe & they will call me if there is an emergency but still doesn't make it any easier). It would be so nice for her to have nice camping weather one of these years. It's rumbling here but nothing severe yet. This year she has her back brace too (so really hope she doesn't get that soaked!!!! She's only wearing it for bed this week, so should be OK at the moment.)

Storms just rolled thru NW suburbs way and then left.. rained for about 15 minutes.. but I just talked to a friend in Sycamore and they lost power for awhile..

Donna, slo And whoever else asked the one I go to is in Wheaton on saturday morning til about 1 or 2:00. they call it a french market cause it has more than just veggies and fruit. They sell fresh cheese, bread, plants and fresh flowers. Pampered chef stuff too much to list. Oh and there are carts of food from area restaurants.

I hope that wasn't all of our rain. It was a tad disappointing. I don't think it even made a puddle.

It's very windy here, and it looks like it's going to start storming any minute :umbrella:

One of my favorite customers came in today - it was nice to see him!!! I've been helping him and his wife since I was 18/19 years old - very very nice people!!! In fact, his wife sometimes comes on the DIS and she posted on here when the thread first started :)

castoff - Your puzzle sounds great:) !!! My store is in NW Indiana - I'll pm you with the detail of the location. Thanks for thinking of me!!!:goodvibes

Bunchkin - Did you have any luck with returning the shirt? I sure hope they gave you your money back!!
**I'm so sorry to hear about your heart acting up :guilty: I'll send you a lot of PD your way - take care of yourself my friend!!!
**I did use alot of sunscreen yesterday ::yes:: In fact, I reapplied 3 times, because if I didn't, I would be burned to blisters today:eek:

Crissup and Sam - Thanks for explaining The Lock - very interesting!!!:)

piglet - I never heard of Way to Go - whose in it??

DMM - Thanks for the congrats!!!!:goodvibes There's a Pop's Italian Roast Beef and Catering opening in this mall in a couple of weeks, and I'm praying that will bring in some new business for me (fingers crossed).
**Those cortisone shots hurt don't they?! I have to have them in my feet in 2 different places, and they are so painful:eek: I hate them!!! I'm glad they helped you :)

graciegirlie - :welcome:
Thanks for coming by!! Please come by often and chat with us - we'd love to have you and get to know you better :teeth:

geffric - :wave2:

Donna - I haven't seen Oceans 13 yet, but I felt the same as you about Oceans 12 (I can't keep my eye's open during it).

Rose - :wave2:

Becky - I hope your DD has a good time at camp. I'm sure she'll be fine with the storms - kids are always more resiliant (sp?) when they are with other kids (at least my kids are). For example, when Stephanie went to Brookfield Zoo a couple of weeks ago she was fine with the cicadas (sp?), if she was just with us, she would have been freaking out - I don't get it:confused3

HERSEY - That French Market sounds great!! :) I'll have to tell Kevin about it so we can go sometime:thumbsup2

Well, I guess I should go and finish up my day here.
Then I have to go get the girls from my mom's (and eat a quick dinner at my mom's) and then call it a day

Have a good night everyone!!!

Well it's kind of thundering here still and it rained earlier for a bit.
I was really hoping for a serious down pour!!! :rotfl:
At least the temperature dropped a bit!! :yay:

Thanks to all that mentioned concern about my heart!! I appreciate it!! :goodvibes
I've actually been putting it off, calling the doctor that is. But it's been getting worse and not better so I have to do something. At least it's not as bad as last summer...that was totally unbearable!!! :sad1:

slo Glad you had a "old" customer drop in!! :)

Hersey The French Market sounds great!!! If you ever want additional company when you go call me!!! :cool2:

graciegirlie

to the Chicago Thread!!! :wave2:
I've never been to Starved Rock but always talk about going!! We are in Joliet so not too far away!! :)

Michelle I've had cortisone in both feet. I can't imagine getting in my wrists!!! YOUCH!! Glad it helped you though!! :)
Looking forward to the American Girl sale next weekend? Maybe we will see you!
A new historical doll is coming out soon!!!! And she has a friend too.
Lauren and I are going to the store on 9-15 for a special event they are having for the announcement of the new dolls.

Donna I have only seen a bit of these new Ocean movies. And I have to agree with you. I really don't like them. In fact I prefer the original Ocean's Eleven with the Rat Pack gang!!!!! I once watched an interview with the cast of the first remake of Ocean's 11, I think it was a Barbra Walters special, and it totally made me mad!!!! Julia Roberts said that she hadn't seen the original but assumed it was bad and that their new movie was better!! That forever changed my opinion of her!! How can you make a remake of something and not bother to watch the original??? :confused3 Let alone form an opinion about it!! Call me crazy, it just seemed logical to me!!
But I guess I'm biased as I love the Rat Pack!!! :rotfl:

Iwerks, all with funding from the very studio he helped start,

good monday evening chicagoland homies.....

graciegirl, welcome to your new home.

i had a doc appt this morning at lake forest. had a complete physical and doc prescribed something for me to start taking right away, other than that, i'm as healthy as a horse.

got home at noon and had to leave again with another son for McHenry Illinois for his appointment. it usually takes us one and a half hours to get there. got there right before 2 and ended up waiting until 3:30 to see him as doc was backed up.

it poured there ! on the radio when we left that place at 4:35, it was announced they received 3 inches of rain in that time period.

got home at 6, quick dinner for one son. other got more gatorade.

doc wants to see the sickie son tomorrow afternoon. he still has a fever but not as high as it was on friday. another trip to lake forest tomorrow afternoon. then tomorrow late afternoon i need to go take care of the surgery son.......

maybe if i had daughters it would have been easier........
keep the pixie dust coming....no one is getting better faster here

hope you all have a great evening.

Good evening all!!!
Not one drop of rain here. Too bad for us. Guess the straw grass goes on. Took kids for their pre-op physicals today. It poured in Tinley Park for about 15 minutes and that was it. It really looked wicked to the North. How did all you Northerners make out?

Bunchkin, Mac and anyone else in need, here you go. Let's hope it helps :wizard: :wizard: :tinker: :tinker: pixiedust: pixiedust: :grouphug:

DMM hope you are drinking lots of water in this warm weather. Don't want any early contractions from dehydration. Take care of yourself.

All the talk here about Starved Rock really makes me want to check it out. We have a nice tent. Too bad with all my time off of work, we can't make good use of it. :rolleyes1 Too bad it couldn't have been a wrist.

Hi Rose. Long time no see (or read) Good to hear from you.

Slo, any sales today?

Well, busy week for me. 2 work meetings. 2 more MD appts., some haircuts, and a birthday party with gift still needed. Guess I should get off to bed.
Later all.

We ended up having zero rain yesterday :guilty:
I was really hoping for some - our grass looks awful:guilty:

Bunchkin - Did I tell you that we are taking Stephanie for a new doll this Sunday? We are taking her out to lunch at the AG restaurant, and then letting her pick out a new doll & 3 outfits for her. We decided to do this for her, instead of giving her a kids party at her gym where she goes for gymnastics/dance. She's very very excited!!!!:yay:
**How's your heart today? Sending some PD your way so you don't feel badly today:wizard:

Mac - I'm sorry the boys are still not doing well:guilty: I feel so bad for them, and for you - it takes a lot of you when taking care of someone sick - many hugs to you  I will send alot more PD their way to feel better soon :wizard: :wizard: Please keep us posted on how they are doing.

Tiggerrrnnnnnnnnn - Yesterday was very slow:guilty: I had just one order for about $10 - not a good day for sales :sad2: But, even though I was very slow, I got to see one of my favorite customers yesterday, and I got a decent amount of paperwork done - so it wasn't a bad day.
**How's the ankle today??

Well, I gotta run and get myself ready for work and the girls ready for school.
Stephanie is going on a field trip to The Dunes today, and she has to be there a little earlier than normal.

Have a good day today!!

The ride on the water taxi from Navy Pier to the Sears Tower area (Jackson & Wacker) will probably take about an hour depending on how you catch the lock. If you get into the lock as you approach, it could be shorter, but if you have to wait for a lock, then get in the next lock, it could take a lot longer. Each lock takes about 20 to 25 minutes. If you are pressed for time, it might be wiser to take a cab.

The water taxi's are a great way to see our beautiful city though, if you aren't pressed for time.

What about the free trolley? Would that be faster than the water taxi? (from Navy Pier to Sears Tower). I'm still hoping we can take the water taxi though - sounds kind of neat! Thanks again! :)

The free trolley will be faster but not as much fun as the watertaxi. BTW, I am not sure about the time as it will stop every few blocks.. does it go all the way to Sears Tower? I work at Sears Tower.. I'll have to go out at lunch today and see if there is a trolley stop..

Morning..:surfweb:

MAC that is a lot of driving..especially to McHenry. there is no easy way to get there from your house or do you take 120?

Hi everyone, back from a busy day of floor sets at Yankee Candle.

Slo ~ I meant teh WTG for you on your good day at the store. Sorry for the confusion.

Off to take Lauren for her riding lesson.

Evening everyone! Another busy day!! :faint: :)

**Those cortisone shots hurt don't they?! I have to have them in my feet in 2 different places, and they are so painful I hate them!!! I'm glad they helped you

YES! they were verry painful and i had tears streaming down my face, I almost said NOOOO when they had to do the 2nd wrist! But in the end it was soo worth it  weird I know!!

Michelle I've had cortisone in both feet. I can't imagine getting in my wrists!!! YOUCH!! Glad it helped you though!!

:faint: :)

Lauren and I are going to the store on 9-15 for a special event they are having for the announcement of the new dolls

YES! i am soo excited! We have decided to stay saturday night, since our ticket is for 2:15, we don't have to be there early, but i have no clue where we are staying yet! There are quite a few people going! But lots of them have the early tix ::yes::

We just went to the store a couple weeks ago and it was NUTS there!!

DMM hope you are drinking lots of water in this warm weather. Don't want any early contractions from dehydration. Take care of yourself.

AUGHH!! thanks so much for this, just wish it was earlier! hahaah! Last weekend, i was doubling over from contractions...we had been out garage saleing all day...well needless to say a trip to the OB did make it clear that i had to drink all day even if i wasn't thirst ESP. In this heat! :faint: (i never knew!!) well Doc was able to get everything under control and now DH drives me crazy all day every day calling me and IMing me to make sure i have a bottle of water in my hand! haha!!

These storms today have been crazy and they have showed some flooding in some parts of Rockford again :sad2: but nothing too bad. Has Rmom been on lately???

Have a good night everyone!
