I woke up with a screaming headache this morning
The stress of this Grand Opening party is really starting to get to me.
Yesterday my delivery didn't come until 6pm, and then I rushed to get Katie from daycare, rushed home, gobbled my dinner, and then we all went back to the store until 10pm. I can hardly wait until this party is over!!!!!!


The good news yesterday is 2 things:
*My new employee is very very nice, and I think she is going to work out great She offered to come in today, so she can finish her project. She felt this was better because then tomorrow she can focus on helping me get the store ready for the party Friday - I thought that was very assertive of her (in a good way)
*I had a customer come in yesterday - how cool!!!!! They asked if I was open, and I told them I wasn't, but I'd love to help them if they didn't mind the disorganization, and me calling them with a price because my prices aren't all in the computer yet. They said that was fine - so they stayed and picked something out.


Bunchkin - Yes, she is the college girl I spoke of I don't blame her for having a trip scheduled, but it is a bummer about her going, because I think she's going to be a fast learner, and it would be great to have the week that she's gone to train her - oh well, worse things could happen I guess.
**Sleeping indoors sounds like a good alternative. I sure hope it doesn't rain for you, but even if it doesn't, the ground could be to soggy after all the rain we've been getting. I bet Lauren is really excited about this!!!

HERSEY - Congrats to Alex for becoming a 7th grader!!!!

Tiggerrnnnnnn - Did your kids have field day yesterday? Stephanie had field day yesterday, and me and other moms helped serve pizza to the kids - it's so fun!!!!

Sam - Good luck with Megan's new summer schedule I'm sure all will go very well. If her summer camp is anything like Stephanie's summer camp, she will love it!!!! Stephanie's disappointed that she can't go everyday, but I told her she'd have more fun at the store with me (I'll love saving the $50 a week )

Becky - Did it hurt your DD when those teeth came out with the braces ? That's great that she has those off for the summer!!!

Morning everyone. Well, I waited up to 1:30 in the moring hoping to get a cheap airfare to CA, but nothing is coming. Now the Dings have gone from June to August for CA and skipped July altogether. I just bit the bullet and purchased a one way to San Jose. At least I can relax about going there. I'll give the return trip a little bit yet and hope for something better. We'll be returning from LAX so I have a better chance of getting a deal from there. (Anyway, who cares if I can't get home, right? )
Slo are awful. Sending you a little so you feel better fast. Any time Steph would like to come play with Kellie instead of stay at the store, just let me know. Kellie would love to have her.
Bunchkin, our Northwoods near me is in a strip mall area so unfortunately there is no play area outside. My niece is the one coming in. We planned the zoo and then to go downtown one day. We thought we'd start at the Shedd and then take the trolley over to Navy Pier for later in the day. Her husband is great fun and loves to window and real shop!!! And they both love my kids. Wish they lived nearby.
Well, I better get a move on. DD wants to be at school to help her teacher pack up the room this morning. Brown Nose!! Doesn't she know school is essentially over and grades are done!! LOL
I think I will go shopping for some summer things for myself since today is the last chance I have to shop unassisted!! Going to head to Orland. Anyone want to meet up for lunch?

Ahhh, first day of summer break here and much loafing around has been taking place!!!

But we have to get it in gear!! Too much to do with the campout this Friday.




slo I hope that your Grand Opening goes off wonderfully!! Then you can go home, kick off your shoes and destress!!!
Lauren is really excited about the campout, she has been volunteering to do stuff all day long to help.

Even though she is minus some teeth, I hope your DD is happy with having her braces off!!

She didn't get anything for them and she said it didn't hurt. She said they did it the same way I have tried at home but their's didn't hurt. Hmm...I think it's because those teeth were hanging on by a thread or something.

Since I wasn't there I don't know how easy it was but DD made it sound like they just popped right on out.

I know she's very happy they are off & she can have popcorn, bubble gum. It was the bubble gum that was killing her. For over a year no bubble gum. I know they do make kinds you can have, etc... but I just made my life easy and forbid her from having it. Hee Hee! Basically she has free reign now to eat whatever she wants. We lucked out a bit anyway though because a lot of the really sticky stuff that was on her no-no list were things she didn't like anyway, so no big deal there.

She did try to weasle a bit more money out of the tooth fairy though since they were pulled and the one time she had a tooth pulled the tooth fairy gave her extra (but that was with novicaine that I don't think worked and the dentist saying "wow, that tooth had a long root" -- so it was not a good experience). With her telling me "it didn't hurt at all", the extra "per tooth" she was trying to get I don't think was warranted.

We have a couple more days before we have summer break freedom here. Although DD did tell me today is the last day they are going around to classes. I hope her travel bag she is making in Home Ec is finished! She wants to take it to camp. She told me she went in at lunch on Monday and may have to go in early today. I asked her today if she needed to go in early & she said no, so we will see. Unless she's like me who never finished my shop piece and basically had a nightstand with no back or drawers that were supposed to go in it & it not being stained either but I used that thing for years & years. She can finish it up here at home though if she doesn't get it done, the only thing she can't do is embroider it because we don't have the fancy machine like they do at their school.

Our steam is starting to run out
We were at the store again late - until 10:20pm
The kids have been really great - I'm so glad we got the tv w/ dvd player for them. They just lay in the office and watch tv . But I'm starting to feel so quilty about keeping them up so late. I told Stephanie that after Friday, it's going to be much better.


So today is a very very busy day - I'm not looking forward to it at all
After I get to work, I have a 100 things to do.
Then at 11:30 I have a Chamber of Commerce lunch (I joined our town's business Chamber of Commerce).
After that I have to go back to the store and do another 100 things.
After my delivery, which will hopefully be on time, I need to rush home and get Stephanie ready for her dress rehearsal - that's at 5:30pm at a school that's a 1/2 hour away.
After that I need to feed us, and go back to the store so my mom and I can make 150 gift bags for this party tomorrow.
Afterwards I can come home and die


All I can say is thank goodness I have my new employee. She has been helping me so much - she's just great!!!! She'll be at the store today while I'm gone to do things - she's been a great help!!!!

Yes Hersey it does ALWAY seem that it is windy on garbage day.. the stuff blows around and always ends up in my yard... not sure how but it does seen that way..We got these big old recycling bins and that was supposed to cut doen on the blowing paper.. it has to some extend but some always finds it way into my yard..


SLO good luck on the grand opening.. I am sure that your hard work will pay off and that you will do a lot of business from it..

Well Eric graduated last night.

it was a very nice ceremony.

. He looked so grown up and it was fun to see kids we knew from pre-school all grown up too.

Geof has 2 more days of finals..

DH and Eric leave today for US/IOA and star wars weekend. Geoff an I will leave Friday but we have to go to New York and then to Tampa and then to Orlando.. So we will leave at noon Friday but not get to Orlando until midnight..

Morning all.
Off today to help with DD Field Day. Slo, the ice cream day for the kids was just for fun. 3rd grade is doing a field day today. 1st grade is doing a picnic on Monday. Each class did their own thing I guess.
Then this afternoon, I have to go to O'Hare to pick up my mom's friend that is flying in from England. She will be with my mom for 4 weeks. Good for her to have the company. My dad has been gone 3 years now, and I think my mom would just sit if it weren't for her friends' visits and my kids.
Sandy, good luck today and tomorrow. BREATHE!!!!! Remember to stand back and take it all in. It will be over so fast. Tell Steph good luck at her recital tonight.
Bunchkin, I sure hope you have good weather tomorrow, but it's not looking good if the weatherman is right. Maybe it will dry off before evening. I'm sure all the girls will have a great time anyway.

Well, I'd better dash to the shower. I get to wear some of the new shorts I bought yesterday!! Spent way too much shopping (on myself). Should've stayed home. Why is it we always feel guilty spending money on ourselves, but think nothing of replacing the children's wardrobes each season? I still have shirts from 20 years ago. that I won't get rid of because I might need to wear them again.

Howdy!!!


I have a ton of things to do today for tomorrow's campout. Lots of food shopping to do too!!
DH was nice and called this morning to ask if I wanted him to come home early tomorrow to be an additional helper!! Of course I said YES!!

We decided not to put the tent up as it has rained for over a week now and the ground is already squishy and it's supposed to rain again today into tomorrow. So my co-leader and I decided to camp inside instead!!

Hi everyone! Just checkin' in! We have been busy since school let out, which was only a few days ago! We have been playing outside and hanging with friends. We had a little bday dinner for dd last night. She idolizes the cheerleading coach at dbf's school, so we had her and her bf over. She knitted a sweater for dd's new Am Girl doll she plans on buying this weekend. She also gave her some VS body spray and taught her how to spray it...one, two, walk through!
Yes, Am Girl fans, we are actually going this weekend. DD got money and gift cards early (her bday is not until next week) and we are going downtown. She plans on buying Nicki and she really wants Bitty Baby's cradle with canopy. I tried to explain how much it is (over 100!), but she does not get that concept very well.
Natives are restless...gotta go!

Megan wants the American Girl, Nicki too and seeing that the doll looks almost exactly like her I can see why. I thought I'd get her the starter kit for her birthday.

Speaking of people that look like Megan. For those of you out there who have read Paula Deen's biography, there's a picture in there of when she was a young girl. Megan looks exactly like her in that picture. It's almost eeerry. The hairstyle and the big goofy smile. Bunchkin found it for me and showed it to me. I was like . Amazing! So, hopefully, Megan will grow and be rich and famous like Paula, although she is showing no signs of wanting to learn how to cook dagnabit!

well I am cutting my vacation short, I will be flying back to Chicago tonight. Sarah's husband just got called to Florida and they have to leave Friday, kind of dissappointing buut we had fun while I was here. HEY just a quick check in. Wow, everyone seems so busy. We are too. I'm trying to keep up with everyone. My DD graduates 8th grade tonight. I've tried to make it alittle special for her. I took her and her ds yesterday to have the nails done. It wasn't too expensive but something we don't normally do. I got her a few gifts that she'll receive at dessert. Well my dh and I celebrated our 20th wedding ann. yesterday. He had to work late but we were able to go to the Baker Hotel in St. Charles for dinner. Gosh I cann't believe we've been together so long. We've been through a lot but I love him more then I ever did.

Make sure you anchor everyone down tonight at the ceremony! It's supposed to be really, really windy. You'll have to let me know how it goes. Next year is my turn.

One more hour of school tomorrow and then we are DONE. Hopefully no missing busses tomorrow. DD missed her bus on the way home today and then I couldn't hear her when she called the 1st time around so had no idea what she said, told her to call back & she didn't. She called 30 minutes later asking where I was. OOPS!

I'm assuming it will rain tomorrow as we go to Dairy Queen as tradition and right on schedule it usually rains/storms on us as there is no indoor seating.
