Okay everyone, I have to confess, we put on our air conditioning last night  It was so frickin hot in our house that we couldn't stand it anymore. Poor Katie was sweating so bad that her hair was soaking wet. So I turned it on to give us some relief:)

geffric - Hiding at WDW would be bad  From what I understand from my friends with boys, is that boys are more difficult at a young age, and girls are more difficult at an older age. I guess I will soon find out - I'm not looking forward to adolesence:sad2:

Sam - I bet that horn sounds awesome!!!! :thumbsup2
**I've luckily never lost a child (knock on wood), but I witnessed someone that did once. I was so scared for her, and then I witnessed her finding the child - I almost started crying being I was so glad they found each other.

Bunchkin - I'm glad that Hunter had fun on his field trip:)
**The store is really coming along - I can't believe I'm opening in a month:scared1: Today Katie and I are going to look at a store that has inexpensive office furniture (like scratch and dent) for my office. I need to get a desk so we can get my computer hooked up so I can get my internet installed.

mvazul - I'm sorry about the sickness in your house. I'll send lots of PD for you all to feel better soon:wizard: :wizard:
**Congrats on getting the apartment - that's great news!!! I'm very happy for you!!!! :yay:

'Ohanamama -
18.gif

Hi there, and thanks for stopping in!!! Please come by often, because we would love to get to know you!!!!

Chris - OMG, your cable fell on your car????? Was there a lot of damage? I think that requires some PD:wizard:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta go get ready for my day
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Just wanted to say GOOD MORNING. Hope everyone has a great day.

Becky2005 are you going to hit the Mill Creek sales this week?

Slo tell me more about the store you're opening.

Ohanamama Welcome :cheer2:

Well kids are waking up. Gotta go.

morning chicagoland homies....

it's wednesday.....hump day, half way to the weekend

thanks bunchkin for the 411 on the movie.

i'm going to be gone for awhile. will be back sometime

Morning..

SLO are you gonna share some before pictures of the store getting ready? BTW I don't know about the girls being MORE difficult at a later age since I don't have girls but boys are NOT a piece of cake when they are teens.. lots of attidute and the mouth runs all the time.. they are not fun to be around at all.

mvazul - Congrats on getting the apartment, hope the move goes well for you. We are committed to 3 different things for scouts on saturday so I can't offer the boys to help you. BTW what does your DH do that he works all those hours?

chrismiss56 did the cable dent or damage your car? Magical Express doesn't work for you on the trip? Is it cheaper to hire a shuttle service?

MAC only 1 month and we will be at US/IOA for a long weekend..:cheer2: with a stop at Star wars weekend too. we say hey to Spidey for ya.. when do you boys get home?

Welcome OhanaMama

Off to work.. talk to ya later

Morning, all! Just a quick hello before I am off to start the day. The contract should be arriving today! I added a ticker down there. Still wish I could add a trip countdown one, but a new house is taking all our money!

Good Morning!!:goodvibes

Wish the sun were shining like yesterday!!

Fortunately the cable didn't do any damage to the car. They can't figure out how it came loose and fell from the building.....Another mystery of the universe:rotfl:

geffric - I was a substitute teacher for 7 years at the grade school, middle school and high school.......I think that BOTH boys and girls morph into some alien being starting in middle school and you don't recognize them again until college years:confused3 :rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl:

Mac - Have fun whatever you are doing!! Looking forward to having you rejoin us.

Pooh Lover Mom - What is Mill Creek Sales? Always looking for a good bargain.

Here is my lost child story - We and another family were at SeaWorld. DD19 was 3 at the time. Well the kids wanted to sit closer for the Shamu show and moved into the get wet section. The oldest of the kids was 9 and said he would have DD sit with him. The parents of the other kids, DH and I were sitting about 6 rows back when all of a sudden my husband jumped out of his seat and started pointing. :scared1:

Up on the big Videotron was our DD being held by a security officer eating a lollipop:rotfl2: Yes after 16 years we can laugh about it. She wasn't upset at all.....when asked why she left her seat......she complained she couldn't see and wanted to sit with her DADDY:rolleyes1 When we quizzed the 9 yr old about this - his comment was well DD told him she knew where she was going:upsidedow

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Hey Chicago! Welcome to the newcomers, and greetings to the "oldies"...

This weekend is graduation for Christopher in Dubuque. Hard to believe how fast the four years flew by...and wow, I am feeling like a true OLD woman...both of my boys are now going to be out of college...old, but very proud mother!

Still trying to decide on a getaway trip for June...looking at Door County, or Mackinac Island. Door County is less $$, closer, but we've been there a few times, and Mackinac Island is a place I've always wanted to go. So, still not sure what to do....

CRISSUP...how is the leaky ceiling thing going for you? Hope it was an easy fix!

SLO...would love to see some pix of the store! Just a month till opening day?? Wow!

A shout out to ALL, and have a good day, everyone!:cool1:

Hello Chicago Area Dis'ers! I've popped in here a couple of times. I think it is great that y'all have such a close group here.

MVAZUL - I currently have my house on the market (it is so slow) and we are planning on moving in with my in-laws  to save $$$ and find a house in a better neighborhood, school district, etc. We will probably be there for a year, hopefully no longer. I was so happy to hear that I am not the only one out there in the same sort of situation :)

To everyone else -

:welcome:

Trust me, I understand the slow housing market. We were living in North Carolina and put our house on the market. We listed it in November, 2005, and we closed on it November, 2006. We didn't want to sell our house - we built it in 2003. We actually moved in the day before Thanksgiving. We loved our place. It was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath on 5 acres. However, my ex (DS's dad) lived about an hour from us. He kidnapped DS (very, very long story). That combined with the horrible school system and the horrible attitudes towards us "Yankees", we knew we needed to get out of there. The only way we could afford to still pay our mortgage until our house sold was to move in with my MIL.

Also, my MIL had double knee replacement surgery last May. We moved in the beginning of June. She was very happy to have us around to help her out. The biggest thing I can recommend is to sit down with your in-laws before you move in and lay some ground rules (if you haven't done it already). I told my MIL that I wanted to make it clear that DH and I are the parents. If we say no, there is no overriding us. If we say yes, there is to be no questioning. They have done a pretty good job, but there are times I really want to pull my hair out and have to bite my tongue - hard!!

Also, don't share every single detail of your life and marriage with the IL's. I know that might sound odd, but you still need to maintain a core family unit. There is so much more I could tell you. I could go on for days!! ;) If you ever need to vent or talk, feel free to PM or e-mail me: mamalion2cubs@aol.com

Again, welcome!! :flower3:

Good morning, everyone!! :wave2:

Thank you to everyone for the congrats on the apartment. I absolutely hate moving but am really looking forward to this move. :woohoo: This weekend can't get here fast enough. I think DH has two friends lined up to help us move everything. At least I hope he does! ;)

I'm a bit on the sleepy side this morning. I do believe I am getting allergies and they're kicking my butt. Plus, we went to the Cubs' game last night. They went 15 innings - and then lost it!! :sad2: However, we left the top of the 14th. DD was asleep by the 12th. We needed to get home, because the kids have school today. At the rate the Cubs were playing, we had no idea how long it would be. We still had a great time, though!

geffric - you were asking what DH does. He is the senior reporting analyst for UnitedHealth Care. Unfortunately, since they have sites all over the world, the only way he can get true numbers is stay up that late. But, he still has to be on during the day to attend conference calls, answer e-mails, etc. It is supposed to be a 9-5 type job, but there is no way he can get everything he needs to get done in that time frame. Also, he is salaried, so the company doesn't mind the hours he puts in. I told him he needs to ask for a raise - a large one!! :rolleyes1

slo - That is so exciting about your shop. How far are you from Chicago? If my business ever gets up and running, I would love to find a good framer for my clients. Good luck with all the last minute things you need to do.

Okay - baby is awake. Have a great one!! :flower3:

Good Wednesday morning everyone!!

Sounds like everyone here is busy, busy today!!! :dance3:

Here's my crazy to-do-list:
I have to leave shortly to go drop off a dessert at Lauren's school. Today is the teachers annual appreciation luncheon and I always donate some dish.
Then off to the post office, the Girl Scout council office, back home for lunch, drop Hunter off at school, go to Kohl's and Target, back home with Hunter, go pick up balloons for tonight's Bridging Ceremony, back home to get girls off the bus, rush out to help decorate the school gym for the ceremony, back home for dinner and change clothes, and then rush out to get back to the school for the ceremony. :faint:

I just love day's like this!!

Here's the recipe for the dish I made. I thought I'd share it with all of you because it is a great summer dish and really goes over well......and it's super easy!!

Cherry Fluff

1 large container of Cool Whip thawed
1 large can of crushed pineapple, do not drain juices
1 can of cherry pie filling
1/2 bag of mini marshmallows
appox. 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts

Mix all ingredients well and refrigerate several hours (or overnight).
I make it early in the morning before I plan on serving it or the night before.
And sometimes I add an extra 1/2 a can of cherries to make it extra cherryish!! :rotfl:

slo Good luck with finding furniture!!
We turned on our air last night too!!! :rotfl:

mvazul Good luck with the move!! And congrats!!

paint Seems like your house buying process is moving along quickly!! Congrats again!!

Donna Congrats on DS's graduation!!!
I would love to go to Mackinac Island!!!! I vote for there!! ;)

chrismiss That's a funny story about your DD getting lost!! :rotfl:

Hi to everyone else!!!

Gotta hit the road!!

Welcome 'OhanaMama ~ We lived with my parents for the first 5 years of our marriage. mvazul has some good advice. Another thing that I would mention, is asking them to let you and DH have a argument if need be. My Mom refused to let us argue, and it really took its toll.

Slo ~ I turned the air on yesterday too. It had gotten up to 90º in the house, and we had not even started supper yet. Also, Kevin (that is my 12 yr old) and I had just gotten back from his track meet, and he really needed a cool place to sit since the AC is not working on my car.

Just as a reminder, my son Nathan and his Cub Scout den are hosting Alex's Lemonade Stand on Saturday from 10-2 at Fire Station #1 on Wolf rd in Mokena. hope some of you in the area can stop by.

CRISSUP...how is the leaky ceiling thing going for you? Hope it was an easy fix!

Well, the builder is claiming it's due to cracked grout. When we looked close, we could see the grout around the bottom two rows of tile was cracked in several places. Their argument is that grout is the owner's responsibility. Our argument is that the bottom two rows of tile were replace last May as a result of other work the builder performed, therefore, this should still be the builder's problem. They don't agree.

Anyway, I regrouted the bottom two rows of wall tile last night and we'll see what happens.

Wow. I am seriously impressed that all of you were able to live with family or even worse, inlaws! This past year (since the big D) I have lived with my parents. It has been extremely difficult. I am so grateful for their support, but I am also so ready to be out!
Contract arrived today and is on its way back to the realtor! I also got my Mom her M Day gift- a Hawaiian Pie from Baker's Sq. It is kind of a tradition. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend them!:thumbsup2 Delicious, and since they are made with fruit, they must be healthy!
Bunchkin- Sounds like a busy day! I almost went to Target and Kohl's today but decided on a nap instead. I go to Target way too much!
Chrismiss- Scary but funny lost child story. DD has been lost twice, I am ashamed to admit. Once at Target and once at a pumpkin farm. They even did a code red at Target. She was hiding in some racks with her hand clasped over her mouth to quiet her giggling. I think I got my first gray hair that day.
Geffric- When does the obnoxious/gross sense of humor in boys go away? Wait. I think I know. Never...

Hi everyone. Been keeping up on the reading. It's late so short on posting. To all the sickies, :wizard: get better soon.
To all the weary, may you get rest.
To all the movers, :scared: good luck with the moving.
Super pixie dust to those with home troubles. My shower wall has been covered by a plastic curtain for a year (DH too busy with other remodeling to get around to minor repairs :lmao: )
Too all you overly extended moms out there:eek: I hear you. First day of dress rehearsal was today. Must say, DD banana curls turned out rather well for a talentless hairstyling mom. I'll be so glad when this weekend is over.
Bunchkin, Yes I mow (among my many other talents that will remain unnamed here :rotfl2: ) We have actually been mowing ComEd property next to us as well for the past 15 years. If we don't, they send a crew out 1 time each month. Meanwhile, the grass gets 2 foot high and the bugs come by the thousands. So we keep it down. That should qualify for a discount, don't you think? :lmao: :rotfl2::rotfl:
Slo, we turned our air on here as well. I tried the fan thing. It just wasn't
working. DH felt the need to sleep. So he turned on the air.
Well, I need to sign out and get to bed. I am now the weary one. Talk to you all tomorrow.
Hello to everyone I did not name. Just too sleepy.
Oh, SamIAm, that horn would scare the bageezes out of me if that went off while I was sitting in front of the computer.:surfweb: :scared1:

 ALL!!! QUICK check in for me!
We're heading to another Cubs' game!!! :yay: :cheer2: The kids are excited to go tonight. Hopefully they win!!
Yikes! That was a LONG game! Sorry about the loss!

Good luck with the moving!! :thumbsup2

I don't think there will be a sequel. But I agree that the ending was disappointing. And I just found out that Vince wrote and produced that movie, I hadn't a clue. :confused3
I was also VERY sad at the end of that movie. I did hear that there was an alternate ending that no one saw. :confused3 (Probably the HAPPY one!)

Anyone watch Dancing with the Stars? I was really surprised about the bottom two - looking for feedback.

Also so Night at the Museum this weekend HOW CUTE!!!:happytv: :happytv: Highly recommend it.
LOVE DWTS!!! SHOCKED that Joey was in the bottom 2!!! Ian must only be holding on because Cheryl has won the past 2 years??? :confused3 No matter! The 4 finalists are as they should be, imo!

Thanks for Night at the Museum remarks, we have this now from Netflix! ;)

Still trying to decide on a getaway trip for June...looking at Door County, or Mackinac Island. Door County is less $$, closer, but we've been there a few times, and Mackinac Island is a place I've always wanted to go. So, still not sure what to do....
Mackinac Island - GO FOR IT!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Donna Congrats on DS's graduation!!!
I would love to go to Mackinac Island!!!! I vote for there!! ;)
See Donna, 2 votes! :thumbsup2

Update: DH will be home another 4-5 weeks. He has some 'pocket' issue. It's either fluid (which can be drained) or scar tissue (which would have to be removed) and, he can only lift up to 25lbs. That's not enough for his job right now. We're home together tho so, I'm fine with it. ;)

zzzzzzzzzzzz's for me - NOW!!!!!!!!!!

 ALL!!! :grouphug:

Good morning! I finally got my lawn mower back from the shop. I really have to learn how to tuneup my own mower. :thumbsup2 . I gave Alex his first lesson on using the edger. He has to learn that elbows bend so you don't have to raise your shoulders :rotfl:. I wish I was so tired I would have taken pictures.

Paint Sounds like your house purchase is moving a long:cool1:

Kim Glad to hear you are well and your husband is on the mend. pixiedust: So there won't be anymore setbacks.

I'm not putting on my airconditioning yet. The thought of that bill really scares me.

Good morning all. Just a quick hello.

Slo I finally turned my air conditioner on yesterday. I was sweating like a pig and decided enough was enough. It's bad when you cann't stand yourself anymore.

mvazul My husband was at the cubs game on Tues. with customers. They left in the 12th inning. He was pretty wiped.

Chrismiss56 Mill creek sales, I was referring to a hugh subdivision in the Batavia,Geneva area that is having it's annual garage sale this weekend. I love garage sales.

Well kids are getting up. Gotta go. Have a magical day.:wizard:

I had such a nice day yesterday.
My mom, Katie and I went shopping all day, and went out to lunch. Most of the shopping was for the store, and I was so glad to have my mom with to give a 2nd opinion. Very very nice day!!!:goodvibes

poohlovermom - The store I'm opening is a custom picture framing store. I've been doing this for 19 years for someone else, and I decided it's time for me to get my own store :teeth: I will be opening June 11th:thumbsup2

Mac - Bye Mac, be safe!!!! :wave2:

geffric - I will definitly share some pictures as soon as I get them on the computer ::yes:: Thanks for asking!!

paint - Congrats on the new ticker!!!! :goodvibes

Chris - I'm glad the cable didn't do damage to your car:)
**Your story shows how quick these kids can move without us seeing them:eek: . They are like Grease Lightning!!! I'm so glad the security guard got her before she was lost.

Donna - Congradulations to Christopher!!!!:cheer2: What a proud moment the two of you:goodvibes Have a nice weekend at his graduation!!!!

mvazul - I'm right over the border in NW Indiana. If you ever need directions give me a PM:)

Bunchkin - You did have a HUGE to-do list yesterday :faint: I hope you were able to get all of it done. I had a list like that Tueday, and some of it didn't get accomplished - so it's on the list for today;)
**Thanks for the receipe - I will write it down!!!! :)

piglet too - Good luck to Nathan this weekend :wizard: I wish I could come, but I will be doing a lot of cleaning at the store to prepare for my carpet coming on Monday.

Crissup - I'm sorry the builder isn't taking responsibility:mad: :headache: I hope the regrouting works:wizard:

Tiggggernnn - Is this Kellie's opening weekend? If so, good luck to her!! :wizard:

Kim - I"m sorry your DH is having some more problems from his surgery. I will send lots of PD his way to get better soon!!!! :wizard:

HERSEY - That's great that Alex is getting old enough to help you outside.:) Kevin used to do that too when he was a boy living at home

I gotta run and open the store for the electrician
Have a good day today everyone!!

Hey all.
Kids are off to school. Laundry is done for the morning. PTO minutes are all typed up. Dishes are done. Now, just need to mop, clean out the toad's tank, clean out dresser drawers and give away old stuff not wearing anymore, and put away all the clean laundry. :faint:
I think I'll go sit out in the sun instead :beach:
Looks like it is going to be a great day!!!
Old ladies softball game tonight. We lost last week 6-4. We were playing the best team in our league, so at least it wasn't the cremation rule.
Yes, Slo, Kellie opens to school on Friday and adults on Saturday. If you aren't busy Sat. at 7pm come to Merriville HS and watch. It is kind of a cute ballet. I will buy the DVD, so you all can borrow if you want. LOL

I haven't gone through all postings yet. Just scanned them.

Good news for DD -- she is getting the braces off her teeth on June 4. That girl is psyched for it!!!!! Her estimate was 14 months which would have been this past December, so every time we have gone in we keep thinking "maybe this time". So this time, they looked and said make an appointment for her to get them removed. We wanted one ASAP. DD was saying "tomorrow would be good" :rotfl2: I did tell her I didn't think that was possible.
June 4th was the first one for an hour. I'm required to buy her a HUGE pack of gum. ;) She has not been allowed to have gum and that kills her. Her gymnastics end of the year picnic is that day too, so she will be bouncing around that she can eat *anything* available. Then we get to get back the next week to pick up her retainer. Then we just get to watch & wait until it's time to put the braces back ON her teeth. How fun. She is doing hers in 2 phases as right now she only has them on her top teeth but once all her baby teeth fall out (who knows she might be 20 by the time that happens! She still has about 11 or 12 of them left & she's 13!), they will be putting a full set on her.

I was also one that put on the A/C.

My DH is being not very nice to me -- he told me he has something planned for Sunday but won't tell me *what*. He told me I couldn't go anywhere but then said I could go somewhere but everyone would have to go. :confused3 Then turned it into Saturday might be better when I reminded him that we are going to church on Sunday (so I *have* to be allowed to go somewhere ;) ). GRRRR!!!! The stinker. I don't do well with surprises (at least not ones where they tell me about it). Now it's going to bug me & he wouldn't even give me a hint! Our 16 year anniversary is Friday too. I'm trying to figure out if he's buying me the ring I want. DD & I were at the mall & I happened to walk by JB Robinson and saw "the ring" -- it matches my wedding bands except it's white gold but it's the same style with a row of diamonds & lab-created Emeralds so it's not real expensive (or as expensive as real emeralds anyway).

I showed him a print out & e-mailed him the information and said "I want this ring" -- pretty obvious I would think especially since I have never asked for a piece of jewelry since we've been married. Usually I'm just happy with a piece of chocolate. I just don't know if he would really spend the money on it (since it is not something we have in our budget) or if he has some other sneaky plan. My *hunch* is it's the ring (I usually get what I want eventually! :lmao: ) but he wouldn't cave when I tried to get him to give me hints or asked leading questions. That's just so not nice of him! He's supposed to give me hints so I figure it out & then I can get it earlier.
