off of the toll on the west side in gurnee, there is the big mall, gurnee mills.

on the other side of the tollway the east side is the culvers.
it is off of dilleys road where you have many resturants going up.
long john silver, a & w, culvers, chuck e cheese, krispy kreme, golden corral

we can meet and eat then do the mall.
they have the outlet disney store over there.

Oh that's really far from me. *sigh*

i have only gone to one meet as they all are far for me.
it took me over one and a half hours to get there.

couldn't you just catch the toll north and come?
it would be a straight shot for you

Hey, Mac, I know exactly where that Culvers is!
I know for me, we get off on the Great America exit, from 294. I have been to that Chuckee Cheeses, very close to that Culvers, a few times. :)

Get this--after hemming and hawing on the Minnie costume, I go to the Outlet site today and they don't have a small! I have no idea if they had a small a few days ago. I think they did, but I can't swear to it.

So now I may have to wait till next year and hope I could get it before MNSSHP. Does anyone remember when they start selling their costumes? I would probably be trying to go in September. :guilty:

When is the meet? It shouldn't take that long.

Hello!! :wave2:

What a busy day for us! It just flew by!!

Did I tell you all that I had a follow up visit with my family doctor the other day? Well, I was telling her about how I went to the hospital back in mid-October for some chest pain. Which was, by the way, unrelated to my heart. She examined me and was pushing in the area I told her that was hurting on that occasion. And her lightly pushing was really hurting!!!
She thinks I have stones in my gallbadder. She gave me a script to go and get an MRI done for it. So I'm going to try to get this done this week.
But can you believe this!!!! :sad2: What MORE can happen to me this year?? :sad2: :furious: I'm hoping that it won't require a hospital visit. I have had ENOUGH of hospitals this year!!!
Tony said the same thing. He can't believe the luck I have had lately. :sad2:

Have a nice night all!! :wave2:

Bunchkin!! We sit and chat for hours yesterday and you never mentioned it! Arrggh! You poor thing! Gallstones, what a pain! Literally! I'm not sure what's worse that or a kidney stone. I've had the kidney stone, but not the gallstone, so honestly, I can't compare.

I hope the kids had fun yesterday. I know Hunter was out of his element with all those girls. And the swingset was a bummer for him too huh!

I haven't heard from my SIL this weekend?? I called my TA and actually if she canceled on me, it would work out to my benefit, because I could put a no expiration option on that one ticket and use it again next year. I paid for this whole trip and she paid me in cash for her tickets and meals. So, technically, the ticket could be transfered to me.

I might take advantage of that new Disney promo stating if you travel from 11/18 through the end of 2006, you can qualify for free dining next year in August and September. I really would like to do a MNSSHP next year. I hate to be thinking this way, but I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibility she may feel that she should stay home. It would be bummer, but it would not be the end of the world. I am still going as I cannot disappoint Megan (and I would be pretty upset myself), but I would miss out on having some adult conversation.

I'm glad it's just a three day week! I have a ton of stuff to do, laundry mostly, for the week ahead. I am also cooking dinner on Thanksgiving! I have one more grocery store run to make and I should be done with that. It's going to be a busy, but fun week! The weather is going to cooperate, no sneak attack snowstorms! Yahoo! Gotta Love El Nino (he's my favorite weather boy).

TiggerRN, I'd take y'all if I could! I know us Chicagoland DIS'ers know how to have fun in WDW!!

Take care and enjoy Mr. :sunny: SHINE!!

SamI - I've had kidney stones too. OMFG!!!!!!!! the pain that was involved with that was nuts!! Can't stand up can't sit down just want to die. The stone and gout are the most painful things I've have ever had to go through.

how do we set up a meet for culvers and a date?

do we do a poll and go with the majority?

the only meet i have been to is the one nicole set up.
i heard about it after the fact on the thread so i don't know who or how the date and place was determined.

i could work with the meet but think that someone that has organized them before would be better for the job.

if someone wants to handle it, i will help in any way needed

Just ask here when everyone would prefer to go and try to set a specific date. Early Dec? After the holidays? You can have everyone PM you or email you if they want to attend.

I could organize it, but I'm only available 2 dates: Dec 2 (a Saturday) and the 17th (a Sunday). If we could do it on any of those dates, then I'd be happy to organize it. :goodvibes

Happy Monday afternoon, Chicago friends...

Mark & I had a good weekend in the city going to the Lights Festival. We stayed overnight at the Homewood Suites downtown, and took the train to Chicago early Saturday morning. We spent the morning doing the "winter walk" activities in Pioneer Court, saw the ice carving and holiday tree at the Intercontinental Hotel and then went to Food Life in Water Tower Place for lunch. (Mark *loves* Food Life, because he can get Chinese food there, and since I don't eat Chinese food, he loves any and all opportunites to get it!). Food Life has a really cool gingerbread house set up all around the place where you order your deserts and we saw a lot of kids that were decorating cookies. We then went to see some of the Christmas holiday displays...we went up to the Ritz Carlton hotel, and saw the tree they have set up there, and then went over to the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel where they had a gingerbread display and a tree set up. Plus, they were offering free apple cider and cookies and had holiday carolers in the lobby. We then went to the Drake Hotel -- they have an incredibly gorgeous tree in their lobby, with lots of animated characters (including Disney characters!)...and also a gingerbread house display. By then, it was time to go out to the street for the Lights Festival. Being somewhat "vertically challenged"...i.e. a short person!...it was somewhat difficult for me to see parts of the parade, but I did manage to see the highlights of the procession...all the Disney stuff!!! Then, we watched the fireworks over the Chicago River. I had made an on-line reservation for the Weber Grill for dinner at 8:30 p.m., so we stopped in the Marriott Hotel on Michigan Avenue for an adult beverage before we headed over to the Weber Grill. It was packed in there, but we got seated right away...ya gotta love advance reservations!!! We had never been to a Weber Grill before--but we really liked it a lot. On Sunday, we walked up State Street to Macy's (used to be Fields) to see the holiday window display. They have Mary Poppins this year as the theme, and it was incredible! I really was quite impressed...I told Mark I felt like we should have been riding in a little boat on a Disney ride to see the display...it was *that* good!!! :cheer2: We did a bit of shopping on the Mag Mile (had to go to American Girl so I could walk around with my American Girl red shopping bag!). Then, we went to the Hancock Center and took some pictures of the holiday train display they have there. I am sure that takes a LOT of work to put together. We went up to the Signature Lounge for a drink ...it was a beautiful, sunny day so we captured some great views with the camera. We were going to catch the train home then, but we walked by the Cheesecake Factory restaurant, and since we hadn't eaten since breakfast, and we had never been there before, we decided to take the later train and go in and have an early dinner. That place is really cool, and the portions of food are HUGE. And, of course I had to bring a slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake home with me!!!

We had a good weekend...but with that being said, I did like the Lights Fest more when they had the Disney stage show. I really missed that, and the American Girl singing show just wasn't the same. I also think they used to have a few more Disney characters in the parade itself...but I am still just really *glad* that we can get *any* Disney in Chicago, even if it's just a short parade!!! :cool1:

Hi all-
Got some stuff done around the house today.

Tiggerrn- thanks for your concern about SIL and I :goodvibes . Yes, we cannot make other people happy and joyful. They have to do that on their own. I have a feeling my SIL is not happy with her life. Well, I'm over this now and I'm doing better about this :)

Bunchkin- I'm sorry to hear you might have gallstones :guilty: When are your tests again? I had major doubling over upper stomach pain for a whole yr, after my twins were born. The pain came and went once every 3 weeks, lasting a few hours. Finally got myself into the ER after a year of this. I know, I waited kinda long. Anyways, I had extreme pancreatitis and many gallstones. I was in extremely bad shape, according to my internal med doctor at the time. I stayed in the hosp for a few weeks. If I brought this up before awhile ago, sorry  Anyways, after my pancreas healed, I had my gallbladder removed with tons of gallstones. The doc said the way the gallstones collected, it was a big purse of stones overflowing. Now, if they were real stones, like jewelry, I would be worth alot of money :rotfl2:
Anyways, keep us posted how you are doing. Hopefully the pain isn't too bad :wizard:

Slo- the school projects are that the kids had to make a trunk- like a clothes trunk- decorate it. Collect items to pack to go overseas and why they packed it. This is the immigration unit they have in social studies. They had to pretend they were immigrating as a child,to the US as a child in 1890. It was also an oral presentation, too. They get graded on this project. I only had a week's notice to help the kids do this. And it was probably my fault I waited to the last minute to work on this project with them  . Both Chrissy and Matthew both were assigned to these projects, since they are both in 4th grade, but they have different teachers. I didn't mind working on it, just double the amt of work(for both of them). I'm hoping everything worked out fine today with their oral presentations. Thanks for asking :)

Hi to all :wave2:

Have a good day!

Okay...now that the "mini" trip report is done...

LEIGH...obviously, I missed yesterday's skating show! Do you know when any others are going to be broadcast? I really have to remember to check those things out because I do LOVE watching skating. I'm sorry to hear about the Minnie costume!

BUNCHKIN...Yes, you have had *way* too many health issues. I sure hope you start to feel better soon. I am so sorry to hear about the gallstones. Please take care.

MAC...anything new, yet, with information about your son? I can't even begin to imagine being in your situation.

TIGGERN...I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. They become such an important part of our lives...it breaks our hearts when we loose them. :grouphug:

SAMIAM..I sure hope it all works out for your trip...it's getting close.

ROSE...I hope you work out your family issues...I know it can be difficult.

SLO...I know it's hard to have the holidays when you've lost someone dear. Hang in there. :grouphug:

DEBBIE...well, we were right outside the Marriott Hotel that's right on Michigan Avenue...I have no *clue* why you didn't see us!!! There were only what...five hundred thousand trillion people there!!!! :rotfl2: Glad you enjoyed the parade!

Everybody else, ...short week, this week. What have you all got planned for Thanksgiving?? Have a great day, Chicago! :thumbsup2

YOU KNOW IT FRIEND! The last time I was in that much pain, I went home with a baby. That time, I went home with a prescription for vicodin and a pee-pee strainer! YEESH!! :confused3

A pee-pee strainer?? :scared1: :rotfl2:

So, is it as painful as labor? I've always wanted to ask someone that. :teeth:
