Happy *cold* Friday the 13th, Chicago!

Welcome back to all of our recent "returnees"! NICOLE..I am glad to see Tony managed to join you guys for awhile. EYEORE...was it you who said something about bad weather on your outbound trip? Was that the day of the really, really bad storms?? LEIGH..loved the pictures of your nieces! <nope, I wouldn't be able to take a snowglobe from them! :confused3 > MICHELLE...I started reading your trip report...I'm glad you guys survived the drive!! And GEFFRIC, cool that it all worked out for your upcoming trip! :cool1:

Speaking of trips, Mark and I went up to Door County this past week. They had a cute little Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor, and an artist's fair in Ephraim. We stayed at Stone Harbor Resort again (alas, not a suite this time, but it is still a gorgeous resort/room). The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the outdoor things we wanted to do. We also did some serious shopping at the Door County coffee store, the Door County Candle store, and the Door Peninsula Winery <gotta love the wine tasting! :thumbsup2 > Not a Disney trip, but it was very, very nice, anyway! :thumbsup2

ROSE..glad to hear that your daughter (and you guys!) did so well yesterday. How is she today?

HERSEY..how are your Hershey and Minnie doing with the cold weather? I think it's time we ALL went someplace nice and warm, don't you??

KIM..I have seen a few of your posts on the Dancing with the Stars Thread...did you see that Sara Evans is supposedly quitting the show? Apparently, she's filing for a divorce and needs to spend more time with her children now...she was never my fav dancer, but I feel really sorry for her.

SANDY...BRRRRRR...you make me cold just *reading* about Stephanie's soccer games!!! I remember freezing watching baseball in the months of June when my boys were younger; we would have winter coats on and be wrapped up in blankies...again...BRRRRRR!!!!

Well, I think I have rambled on looonnnng enough for one post...a special shout out to anyone I didn't mention (and I know there's a LOT of you!) and any of our lurkers, too....hope EVERYONE has a SUPER weekend! Stay warm! :sunny:

What a day Roseprincess... :wizard: I just read something about the effects of anesthesia - I had a horrible experience last year - worst part of surgery is that post surgery anesthesia thing!! :grouphug: Thanks for sharing your experience - glad the nurses knew to congratulate you!!

 Donna - yes it was that horrid Oct 2 when there was tornadic activity in the area, lots of lightening and rain - so all in all we're lucky to be alive, and then we were in Disney... (I did write United, they said they wanted more info...)

Geffric did you see Desperate Housewives??? :rolleyes1

TGIF WOOHOO!!

We could UPS this weather overnight to you if only we had your address :rotfl:

I wish... thank god the rain stopped and now we are getting the cooler air in the atmosphere

Have you guys ever made a meal that didn't want to seem to finish? I am making this new chicken & rice recipe and it's been in the oven since 5pm and it is not 6:40pm. This chicken is taking FOREVER to cook - so annoying!!!!

All day I've been cleaning the girls room and playroom. I was able to get 3 large black Hefty bags full of garbage, and 3 large black Hefty bags full of toys to give to needy children. I feel so accomplished, and so tired - it's alot of work. I hate to say it, but Stephanie can be a bit of a slob. Her idea of cleaning her room is shoving crap under the bed and ramming it into her closet  UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

geffric - I'll think of you at 8pm tomorrow if you think of me at 8:15am tomorrow. Either time - we are going to freeze!!!!!

eeyore - thanks for telling me about the knitting. You are inspiring me to want to learn.

Rosemarie - You sure had a long day!!! What a bummer about the garage - that would upset me too. I'm glad Chrissy didn't feel to sick for very long.

macraven - I hear ya - I need a vacation to get over my vacation too :teeth:

Donna - I'm glad you had a nice time at Door County. We have never been there, and I would like to go sometime.

Annttsss - :wave2:

Well, I better go check on my chicken. Have a good rest of the night everyone!!!

Donna Minnie hates the cold, heat, rain most of all snow. However the brat (Hershey) loves the outside. Right now he is getting into trouble with the big brat (Alex). And yes it is time for somewhere warm.

Slo I have a few recipes that take forever. Last week I made Lasgana that took a long time to set up. We ended having something else and the lasgana the next night.

SLO how did the chicken turn out? Stephanie's idea of cleaning sounds like Eric.. It gets so bad that at times Eric's closet door swings off its hinges and into the room..

I'll be thinking of your tomorrow am. I will be at Geoff's CC meet but thanksfully CC Meets are over in 1/2 hour.

Roseprincess glad that your all are back home and the experience is over. I never knew about the garage thing. It sounds like they need more parking. Nice to hear that you and your DH 's parenting skills were complemented by the staff.. Hope Chrissy is feeling okay today. When do you get the results back?

Off to run around town and pick the boys up from their events...

SLO I know what you mean about freezing cold at the soccer game. Out in a field, without anyplace to stop the wind gets so chilly... I am dreading Eric's 8 pm football game on Saturday..
I hear ya BOTH! I stood outside this afternoon, after school, for 2 hours, watching Kelly & DNephew's FINAL cross country meet! :worship: That wind was WICKED! :stir: (pun intended :teeth: ) Looking forward to Kelly's Monday-only INDOOR gymnastics for the next couple months! :thumbsup2

I probably won't get her MRI results for a few days. When I hear anything, I will let you all know ;)
Please, do! {{HUGS}} for Chrissy! What a day. :guilty:

My boss & his family were up there 10/5-10/9. He said everything was great! Sounds like it was for you 2, also! :thumbsup2

Thanks Sandy ;) , I thought Kelly was the only 8yo SLOB around! (Honestly tho, I blame myself a lot for buying her nearly everything :sad2:  ) I'm afraid to even LOOK under Kelly's bed! :faint: When I can SEE all the other "stuff" (putting that 'nicely') right out in the open, I can't imagime what's 'hiding'!! :sad2: I need to do what you did, when she's NOT around. ;) What charity takes used toys by you? Maybe they're here too? :confused3 I would LOVE any info! :thumbsup2 Thanks!!!

Good very early Saturday morning everyone!! :surfweb:

I'm up at the crack of dawn to go to Steph's 8:15am soccer game.

Then after the game, we have Kevin's fire dept open house that we are going to all afternoon.

Kim - The charity is something that our friends sister & husband do in Wabash, In. I don't know the name of it, because I just give my stuff to him and then he delivers it to his sister. I like this charity, because I know that familys are getting these items for free, instead of having to pay for it at a Goodwill store.

Well, I gotta run and get in the shower. I'm sorry I'm not responding to everyone currently - I'm just to tired. I stayed up to late watching The Wedding Crashers and then Kevin and I sat out in the hot tub until almost midnight.

Have a good day everyone!!

slo KimRaye Did you ever watch the disney movie Don't look under the bed? That's what came to mind hearing your stories.

Slo Alex is going to be Edmund from Narnia for halloween.

Morning everyone!
Donna- Door County sounds fun. Have you ever been to Galena? Vey nice as well. Lots of good food, too!
Rose- Hope Chrissy is feeling better and everything went okay!
Slo- Omg, dd shoves stuff under her bed, too. I am always suspicious when it takes her 5 mins to clean...
Hersey- I am falling behind with Lost. I have to finish last weeks episode. I started watching it on ABCs website.
We are headed to Central Il to a pumpkin patch today. Going to meet some friends there. We are attempting GA tomorrow. We'll see. I have been busy with school- 2 5 page papers due this week! School is going well, though. I got an A on my first paper and a 94% on my first test (which I thought I bombed).

Good Morning! :sunny:

Gotta love brisk fall mornings!! :cool1:

Hunter has had a slight fever since yesterday. He didn't go to preschool yesterday because of it. I got in the shower late yesterday morning and when I got out I found him asleep in his bed! I knew this was a sign as he doesn't nap anymore. Today he seems cheerful as usual and the temp seems to be dropping.

slo & Kim I too contribute to Lauren's large mass of toys and what-nots. But I've tried to give her things to store them in....like 2 huge wardrobe cabinets from IKEA. One holds clothes (she has way too many that they all don't fit in her LARGE closet and dresser) and toys, and another is not as wide and has several shelves for storing things (like her jewelry boxes, hand held video stuff, cd's, toys, etc.) and then she has two seperate organizer shelving units in her closet. AND her bed in a captains bed with the drawers and cubbies underneath........and her room is still a mess!!!!!
I wish she would get rid of her Disney Princess, Barbies and My Scene dolls. She very rarely plays with them. :sad2: And a huge chunk of her closet floor is dedicated to them.
The top shelf of her closet and some of her bedroom floor is all American Girl! Of course we aren't getting rid of those!
I have no idea how to weed out any more than I already have since our last garage sale!!!! :faint:

Kim St. Jude's charities takes toys. I donate to them all the time. There is a drop box with an attendant near my home. Maybe there is one near you too! :) They will give you a reciept for a tax write off too. Let me know how you liked Mickey's Magic Show today....but don't give away any good details!! :)

slo Lauren totally loved BBB!! I gave her the Castle Package as a birthday present. She was thrilled! She had opened a few presents I bought her while at WDW and then when she was done I sprung the suprise on her. Up until that point, every day she kept saying how she wanted to go to DTD to go to the BBB!! So she was very suprised. :) We spent the extra $$ for her to get Belle's red holiday dress. I couldn't believe it was more than all the other dresses. Lauren wanted the princess hairdo with the bun on top. But her hair is too short and layered, so the bun was a mini-bun!!! :teeth:
So we spent the extra $$ (again) to have the fake diva hair added to it to give it more oompf!! Then after that was the included photo shoot, which is located at the guest relations building next to Ghiradelli. The photographer was awesome and took tons of photos and with different poses and a cute white leather sette for her to sit on. We got to pick 3 of the poses to take as that was what was included in the package. The rest are on our photo pass card! I didn't even know they would be left on there!!! COOL!! :) So now I can print them all out!!!! It was a great time and luckily Hunter lasted through the whole ordeal without breaking down!!! LOL!!!
But it was a ton of $$, and I'm not sure if I would spring for the Castle package again anytime soon. Total was $234!!!!!

How did Steph enjoy herself at BBB?? Which Fairy Godmother did you get?

Hersey I have YET to see Narnia!!!! My kids didn't want to go see it when it was at the theatres!!! I bet Alex will look very cool on Halloween!! Lauren is going to be Belle, since she got the dress for her birthday at the BBB in DTD!! And Hunter wants to be Darth Vader! I still have to get a costume for him, and I hear they are selling out quickly. So I probably should go do that today. :teeth:

Hi to everyone else!!!

I really need to kick it in gear!!! Too much to do today! And Lauren has birthday $$ left that is burning a hole in her wallet and needs to be taken to Toy's R' Us!!!!

That's quite a feat! That's a lot of girly stuff for a little boy. ;) :rotfl2:

I love Belle's holiday dress.

Hello everyone! Today is a much tolerable day without the heat, I can actually walk around my house without a blanket wrapped around me. I took the girl's to my mom's work yesterday and the whole store doesn't even look like it was ever an Osco, Katelyn was so confused over there, she is use to certain things being in certain places and now it is all different, she did love the fact that there is a huge candy section right under the front counter at the check out :rotfl:

Always keep blanket and extra gloves in your car - I was so grateful I started doing this, when DS had a High School Lacrosse (Spring!!) it SNOWED!! HS lacrosse makes the boys play in shorts - no matter the weather!! IT WAS FREEZING - and those boys were in shorts - I grabbed my blankets and put them and extra hats and gloves on their bench - crazy cold -

memories - - so glad I dont have to make new ones... yet!! ;)

(PS Pg 4???)

That's the kind of charity I need!

How was soccer?
