Hi Chicagoans...

I know I rarely post here - but I just wanted to jump in and say thanks!

Several months ago we were chatting about some places in the St. Charles/Geneva area and someone recommended "Rain" as a great place for brunch.

DH took me there for my b-day last month and it was great! $14.95 for a Sunday champange brunch!

I forget who suggested it - but just wanted to say thanks again! We'll be going again soon!

PS - Go Bears!

Good morning all.
Thanks to all who sent hugs about my friend. The wake is tonight. My guess is it will be very crowded since he was a police officer.
Carpet man should be here shortly. Finally, no more living room furniture in my kitchen/bedroom and anywhere else we had to store it!!! :rotfl:
I need to sweep floor downstairs quickly and vacuum a bit.
Bunchkin, nice to see you and your family out and about last night. I was going to ask you how Hunter's arm was, but in the rush out, I forgot. Glad to hear he's doing OK with it. Your daughter was very cute saying Hello. My two would just be asking me "Who's that?"
Hope you and Sandy have a great adult only trip to WDW. Can I come along in a suitcase? I promise to be good. I won't talk too much or keep you from getting to your ADRs in time. You'll never even know I'm around. :rotfl2: I have got to plan one of these for myself soon!!!!!
OK well better get a move on my day.
:wave2: to everyone. Have a great day whatever you all are doing and be safe wherever you all are going.

Roseprincess -- Sounds neat about your church service.

Bunchkin -- Thanks for the Bozo special!!! My DH *hates* clowns but loves Bozo, go figure, it's a Chicago thing. :rotfl2:

FlyingBelle -- You were right near me (city, not at RAIN) and didn't even say Hi. :sad2: ;)

I was out shopping this morning and I think I'm just about done. Can I just say talking toys are annoying when trying to be sneaky! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I bought DS-3 one of those talking plush Cars toys, that you smack them and they basically yell at you for hitting them. :rotfl2: They had lots of different ones but only ONE towmater and that's the one he wanted. I had needed a little stocking stuffer toy, so I grabbed it while he wasn't looking and put in the bottom of my cart. Managed to get through the store OK and pass it off to the clerk without him seeing (figures the price didn't ring up so I invented a price because I couldn't remember for sure -- I either overpaid or underpaid but whatever)...manage to finagle all of this and ON THE WAY to the car, since I had it on the bottom part hiding started up talking. I honestly thought it was geese quacking or something and then realized it was the truck talking because it would bounce as it hit bumps on the parking lot.

It was the last thing I loaded into the car in the passanger seat and I ended up turning on the radio afraid it would start talking in the car! I don't know how I could have finagled that one. In the store, Luke said "what's that" and I just said "oh I must have bumped something", outside we determined it must have been some birds but IN the car would have been a whole other thing. Luckily, the thing was quiet the entire way home! WHEW!!! It's still sitting out in my car waiting until naptime before getting in the house.

It was so much easier to just buy his presents while he was there when he was younger. Now he pays way too much attention to what I'm doing. ;)

At least he's done now! I only need a "Santa" gift for DS-6 and we are all done. He asked Santa for "a lot of toys" -- GRRR and NOTHING is striking my fancy for him (nothing like waiting till the last minute). I did buy Toss Across but I really want that to be a family gift so I hate to give it to him as everyone will end up using it but if I get desperate that might just turn into his Santa gift. He has always been the one that has been slightly hard to buy for but this year is even WORSE! Mostly because both him and my older boy basically play with the exact same things so we have most things & I try to get stuff that is not a duplicate of what his brother has so he has something uniquely HIS. He has gifts just nothing that seems good for the big Santa present that is perfect. KWIM?

I had hoped to do that this morning but Meijer didn't have anything that screamed his name to me. I think I'm going to have to break down and go to the dreaded Toys R Us! I don't like going there because it is usually the higher priced store vs. Target/Wal-Mart/Meijers.

good afternoon chicagoland homies.

my sincere condolences to those that have lost friends, loved ones recently.
the holiday times are hardest for those of us left behind here.

hope you all are doing well

Shopping was sorta successful. My girlfriends DD wanted Highschool Musical for her hand held Disney video player, and Target was sold out :guilty: I went to Circuit City - they don't sell it. Then I went to WalMart - they don't sell it. So Kevin is going to go back to Target for me tonight and get her a gift card for her to get it after the holidays.

After our shopping we went to McDonalds for lunch - you would have thought I told the girls we won the Lotto - they love to eat INSIDE at McDonalds :Pinkbounc

Rosemarie - That is so cool about your church being on tv - thanks for telling us about it :)

Jedi - I bet the Christmas Eve crowds are scary - I don't blame you for not wanting to go out :sad2:

Sam - Santa always brings something for the girls that they didn't ask for too ::yes:: This year for them it's the Build-A-Bear Happy Feet penquins.

Bunchkin - I"m glad Hunter's arm is doing okay out of the cast. I bet he is so glad to have that heavy thing off his arm :)

FlyingBelle - Hi there!!! :wave2: I'm so glad you had a nice birthday brunch :goodvibes

Tiggerrnn - I bet the wake will be crowded. I will continue to keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Becky - I bought a last minute X-Mas present for Katie today too. Luckily, I had Steph to keep her distracted while I was putting it in the cart and paying for it. :teeth:

macraven - Have you heard from your son in Mexico? Is he okay now that he has returned?

Well, I guess I should start planning something for dinner.

Talk to you later!!!

Today is my last day of work, and then I don't return until next Thursday :cool1:

Last night Stephanie and I played Disney's Seen It and it was so much fun. Then after we were done, Kevin came and played a second game with us. It was a really fun family night :goodvibes :cloud9:

Well, I best be going and jump into the shower soon.
Have a good day today everyone!!!

:furious: Today's my day to sleep in because I don't start work until 12:30 on Thursdays, but there's someone chopping down a tree, or I don't know what!! All I hear is what I think is a chainsaw!!

Anyway, I really want to fall back asleep. Today's going to be a crazy day because I want to sneak in some shopping before work, and I still have to make the pasta salad I'm making for a potluck at work tonight.

Looks like the boards are pretty quiet these past few days! Everyone must be getting their holiday stuff together :goodvibes

ARGH!! There goes that chainsaw sound again !!! :headache:

Hope you get your shopping and your pasta salad done in time!! :teeth:

slo Have a great last day of work!

Tiggerrn What you didn't hear my daughter say as you walked away was "Bye person!". She had no idea who you were and decided it appropriate to call you 'person'. Kids!! ;)

OMG, that's too funny! :rotfl: My friend's DS2 called me "Lady" for a while. :goodvibes

Good Morning all!!!
Bunchkin and SamIAm :bday: party: Hope you both have a great day!!!
Baking CC cookies today. My yearly gift to all my sisters and my brother as well as my DH sisters and their families. Too many people to gift everyone anymore. I only buy for those under 18. Christmas is for kids anyway.
Have to go back to stores today when the carpet people get finished. DD has decided she would rather have Robopuppy than another thing I already had, so back I go. This is why I don't buy things early and save the money. What's the point. :rotfl:
Well, have a great day everyone.
Oh, the wake was very crowded last night. I've never been to one involving a police officer before. They have Honor Guard on either side of the casket and every so often, there is a changing of the guard. So that made it an even longer wait in line. Sad to see someone go so young. But when it's cancer it's almost a blessing. I know it was for my Dad.
OK now that I have bummed us all out for the day. Sorry.
Try to have a good, gloomy day!!! Sure wish the rain would stop.

Hope everyone is doing well!
I just found out I am NOT going to get one of my on-line purchases in time. Worst part is the mistake was on my end. Oh well. No time for crying about it, right.
I am so sorry for those of you who are going through the loss of a friend. It's so tragic and so very sad. I am sorry and will keep you in my thoughts.
You guys all are busy little Christmas Elves that’s for sure! WOW! You guys get a lot done. Sometimes I read this thread and feel very inadequate! We have a lot of SUPER Moms out there!
Gotta get more stuff done...
Debbie

Yeah!!!! The carpet people are finished and my living room furniture has all been returned to the living room!!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo:
Now I need to vacuum everywhere downstairs and dust everything off. My house will slowly be returned to a home!!!!!
Cookies are baking and the house smells soooo good.
Been listening all day to the DIS Radio Christmas music. It's been fun.
Bunchkin and Slo are you two ready to go yet? Are you going to be there during the holiday decorations? I sure hope you have a great time.
OK back to the cookies. Later all.

BUNCHKIN AND SAM I AM....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH OF YOU!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Happy Thursday, Chicago friends...

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth..yet...it's just that this time of year is really busy...but I do read the thread, and just want to add my hugs and prayers for everyone that is facing any kind of difficulty this holiday season.

The Chicago DIS meet pictures looked like you all were having a good time...hopefully, we can make it to the next one!!

Until next time, I wish peace to all of you!!! :sunny:

I can't believe I almost missed it. I hope You both have a wonderful day you both deserve it. :grouphug:

I sound like a grinch here but I've been soo busy I can't hardly wait until I can sit down and stay down. I thought I was starting to get sick but I think I'm just tired. :thumbsup2

Mac How are you doing this days ?

Jedi Hopefully you are doing well.

Tiggerrn2 I like having new stuff done around the house makes you feel like you moved but without the packing :teeth: Sorry again to hear about your friend this is a lousy time of year to lose someone.

Hi to everyone hopefully next week I'll be less busy. :wave2:

Bunchkin & SamIam --Hope you are having a wonderful birthday.

I got nothing done I had planned today. How dare my DD have a life of her own!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: I had hoped she would watch the boys while I did a quick run to the store but no, one of her friends called this morning to see if she wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese...so off she went with them. She left here about 10:30ish and got back at 4:00 (she forgot she had gymnastics at 5 for a make-up class). Then the littliest one decided today would be a good day to NOT take a nap (there goes MY cleaning time!). Hmmm...I think it might be nearly time for Plan B cleaning (shove everything off the table into boxes and go hide them up in my bedroom! We don't usually let anyone upstairs during the holiday anyway.) Everything else gets piled into a corner or in "hiding" places (except I need to clean out those hiding places from previou stashed years).

Tomorrow her friend's brother is going to go see Night at the Museum for a birthday party and the mom invited DD along (NOT to go to the birthday party but to see the movie in a seperate section). DH has tomorrow off but has an interview, so if he gets back in time I might take DS-9 to go see it too. THERE goes Friday with likely being at the mall most of the day. :rotfl2:

Ummm....Saturday night parents & brother's family coming over, think I'll have the place at least 1/2 respectable by then??? (and WHY am I on the DIS now instead of cleaning?????) ;)
