Hi all!

Yeah, I'm up late. :surfweb: I'm going to Hartford, CT, tomorrow for Skate America, and I'm finishing up with my packing. Actually, my clothes were packed hours ago, it's other things I need to do. I have had a nap for a couple of hours. :sad2:

So I hope everyone here has a good couple of days, and I'll be back on Sunday...my birthday!!! :cool1:

Bye!

Good Wednesday morning everyone!! :surfweb:

Thanks for the congrats everyone!!! :goodvibes It's so nice to have friends to be able to share my life with :teeth: :grouphug:

Yesterday after I took care of business at my Brokers home office, I went to the office I'm working out to touch base with my managing broker. As I was walking in, my manager stuck her head out the school door and said they had a speaker coming and if I had time, I could stay. I said, "Sure, Stephanie won't be home from school for awhile." So I stayed, and the speaker was very interesting. He talked about how to read people's eye's to know how they are feeling before they talk (this will come in handy when my girls are teenagers and I want to know if they are lying about something  ). He also talked about how to talk to different type of people, especially optimistic vs. pesimistic (sp?) people - very interesting!!! I know so many of each type of people ::yes::

I always watch tv while DISing in the morning, and they are playing the commercial for the Santa Claus 3 - are you all excited about this?? I am so excited, I can hardly wait to see it :Pinkbounc !!!! I love love love the Santa Claus movies . I'm counting the days to this movie, like others did to the Pirates movie - I just love them!!! :santa:

Leigh - Have a safe trip tomorrow and enjoy Skate America!!! :cool1:

macraven - Wow, the million dollar club, wouldn't that be awesome :teeth: !!! I sure hope you are right!!! :teeth:

Debbie - :wave2:

eeyore45 - You live close to macraven. We'll have to do a meet up your way sometime::yes::

Welcome to our very fun thread!!!
No one is ever late, and everyone is always welcome!!!
Please come by and visit often!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

Bunchkin - My next step is taking several more classes (training classes). I have to take a class every Wednesday night and 2 all day Saturday classes in November. I was told that what I learned in school this summer I will never use (except some laws here and there) but what I learn in these classes I will use every day. Then I have to take 2 more all day classes, within the next 4 months, that are given by the Realtor Association. But, during this time, I can start taking listings and use my Mentor (provided by the Broker) to help me out. Kevin already has someone that may use my services - so that makes me happy :goodvibes
**I'm so sorry you are going through all this with your feet :guilty: Are you seeing the doctor that did the surgery on Nov 2nd, or the other doctor that you liked better?

Tiggerrnn - I'm so glad your DS is feeling better!!! :)

Becky - Sending tons of PD your way for DD to make the cheerleading squad :wizard: :wizard: Please let us know when you know :cheer2:

To all other Chicagoans - Hi there!!! :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get Steph up and ready for school. This her last day this week, and then she's off the next 2 days for Fall Break :cheer2: Have a good day today everyone!!

 Running off to get ready for work, so really quick post today:

CONGRATULATIONS, SANDY!!!

Wishing you all the best with your new career adventure!!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning! :sunny:

I have a ton of running around to do today! And yet, here I am!!! :rotfl:
I will get motivated soon!! :thumbsup2

My head has been spinning the last couple of days! I have no clue what to do about our scheduled vacations because I just found out the other day that POTC will be closed down again during our trip to DL!!! :furious: They are supposedly closing it from Feb to early May to add the Elizabeth Swan & Will Turner characters. This is not official yet, but it's from a source who seems reliable. :sad2: So now I have no idea what to do. I REFUSE to miss going to POTC in DL!!!! :teeth:

I could go back to taking our trip during Christmas break but the air fare is a killer for all 4 of us!!!
Or I could reschedule for early June when the kids are out of school and watch for low air fare for then.
It's all quite madening!!! It's not like we are just going to DL, we are also making a trip to see the grandparents in Vegas too. So a lot of reservations will need to be changed AGAIN!! :sad2:
I give up!!! :rotfl:

slo I would have ben interested in hearing the speaker you saw!
It sounds like you will be quite busy with classes this coming month! Good Luck!! :thumbsup2
Fall break???? There is no such thing around here in our school systems!
But I can't complain. Our kids actually get a lot of days off! :teeth: They have 1/2 of April off for spring break!!

Leigh Hope you have a safe trip to CT!! And have a great time!
I love CT, it's so pretty there!

Well, I should get going!!! Have a great day everyone!!!!!

Sk8Leigh- have fun at Skate America!

Hi to everyone else I missed :wave2:

Have a good day everyone!

Slo --Congratulations Sandy!!

'Ohanamomma -- Welcome

Sk8Leigh -- say "Hi" to my sister. :rotfl2: She's not going to be at Skate America but she is close to Hartford.

I'm so excited, DH got a new job!!! He will be starting in 2 weeks.

The only downfall is it's temp to hire, so let's hope he doesn't work there 2 weeks and they go good-bye. :scared1: That would be bad. It sounds like a great opportunity though FINALLY (my DH was laid off about 4 years ago now and has basically been working *way* underpaid for a couple of years). Although, the best scenerio would be they hire him. He went for the interview on Monday morning & they called him Monday afternoon to offer him the job.

Today is DD's cheerleading try-out day...I'm so nervous for her. I hope she does OK. I had her show me the cheer and she did OK but had a tendency to forget how the 2nd part started. EEK! Although, being able to do a flip-flop is extra points and she can do those with her eyes closed.

SLO, What date are you cruising the magic? :sail: We have a date booked for Oct 2007, but we havn't decied if we are going to use it or bump it back to 08. Will this be your first cruise on the Magic?

Hi Everyone,

Well here it is Wednesday, hump-day, so we're almost done with this week. Debbie6221, I hope you don't mind, but I totally made that Partners picture my wallpaper. It's a great picture and it makes me happy to look at it!!

I just got some bad-ish news that my nephew is being sent to Iraq in February. Sigh. He's not going to be in the direct line of fire, but he'll be in Iraq and that's bad enough. He's a firefighter in the Marines, so he'll be putting out fires and is now training on different types of aircraft and how to best extinguish fires on each different plane.

I'll see some of you on this upcoming Pumpkin Patch meet on Saturday.

My folks are coming for a visit today, up from Florida (suckers!!) and they'll be staying for a week or so. So, if I'm not on the boards too much, it's because I'll be busy "entertaining". Megan is super duper excited that her Nanny and Papa are coming to visit!!

Ha...here's a funny! My boss just brought a few new "guys" around for introduction and I bet if you add up their ages, they still aren't as old as me! Geez, are they hiring these kids right out of high school???? Green green green. Well since I pretty much just got busted on the DIS by my boss, I better scoot and get some work done!

i totally understand your worry. one of my sons was activated from nat'l guard with retraining orders before he was to go to iraq. retrained from heavy artilliary to infantry duty.
readers digest version: son at age 24 back home with disabilities for life. now released from army.

war is not fun or healthy

i'll keep your nephew in my prayers.

Prayers for your dnephew.
My uncle was deployed to Iraq July 2003 til Feb 2004. He was not front lines, either. He served in one of the combat hospitals in Mosul. He came back ok.
I also know of one of my dh's coworker served twice in Iraq. I don't know if he was front lines or not. He came back unhurt, too.
Also, my cousin's husband served as a naval reserve on one of the ships for a few months. Don't know which ship and where exactly, as I don't get to talk to my cousin that much. He came back ok, too.
Please keep us posted on your nephew.

thanx rosemarie...

samIam21, please don't fret about your nephew.....i know, its' easier to say than to do.....

there are many men and women that are coming home uninjured.
your nephew will be fine. you said he won't be in the line of fire and that is wonderful. he will be safe. and, he is a marine and marines are capable of quick thinking and they are very well trained.

my son was a senior in college when he was in the national guard and due to the country's needs, he was activated, he was allowed to finish up his last 2 months of college and graduate.
he was trained out of fort sill ok for heavy artilliary. he did the computers in the tanks with the bombs. usually these babies are in the rear.
his unit was retrained to be infantry men as there is a great need for that.

of course, the infantry are in the front line and do the shooting. so that was not the ideal place for a college kid without a lick of sense in his head of using a gun. marksmanship was not his highest ability......

he has 4 herniated/ruptured discs and knee injury.

he will get better but can never carry anything over 5lbs at this point.
he has a desk civilian job now. his discharge was early summer this year.

our family is proud of him and very blessed he is home.
he has a future ahead of him and served his country well.
