First DIS meet, and yes, we enjoyed it! Thanks for welcoming "Dr. Dave" and I to the group yesterday!
The DVC staff at "Doorway to Dreams" were very friendly, informative and generous with their time. I thought their presentation was professional, low-key and had just the right amount of breaks in it, including giveaways. No one was condescending toward us for being "Disney freaks" as I had feared; instead we were received with support and positive recognition for posting our views on this larger Disney community.
We enjoyed talking to Vicky , who is with the DVC, while the group tours were underway. Did anyone notice the Swarovski Mickey face on her black furry wrap? The pin was about an 1" tall. It was classy and just adorable... I am going to look for one the next time I'm at the parks.
The new Bay Lake Tower model is really beautiful. We would like to see the new BLT Studio model when it opens next week. Of everything in the current BLT model, we LOVE the bench that can seat the entire family in the kitchen; who would ask for a chair when they could sprawl comfortably on a bench?

Some of the Bay Lake furniture and decor resembles the more modern style of items in our own home! It's clear that this tower, like the gorgeous villas for AKL, will be a wonderful addition to the Contemporary resort. We will be visiting the DVC store again to follow-up on our meeting.
It was fun to see the prizes given away to DISboarders: congratulations to all of you who won! The DVC CM had some fun gifts (like travel blankets and travel mugs) for winners, which he pulled out of the cabinet under the flat-screen TV. Magic!
It felt like we all won something, didn't it? My fiance and I wore our lanyards to the meet, and the DVC CMs gave each family a few pins to take home, whether DIS members had a lanyard or not... that was one of my favorite parts of the event.
Also, a big thanks to Geef for taking the initiative to encourage Disney-related stores (my favorite of the bunch was
Lego) to donate gifts to our meet -- just brilliant! That aforementioned soap really does smell like the "Burning of Rome" scene from Spaceship Earth. Most of us could smell it around the room before it was even unwrapped.
Overall, Geef and Janet did a great job putting this event together.
In the DVC take-home goodie bag, there was a Geef-inspired coupon for an additional 25% off at the
Disney Store. This was a strong incentive because The Disney Store was offering a 50% off sale on many of its items already.

Not surprisingly, The Disney Store was
filled with DISboarders after our DVC event; you couldn't walk more than 20 steps without running into another member. The staff at TDS also asked a few of us about the DISmeet and if we were DVC members yet; it was neat that they acknowledged where we had been all morning.
We almost didn't go to the DIS lunch since the commute back home was rather short, but we are SO GLAD that we did! For those of you who didn't attend, the food was great, as always. I was just at Uno's last week with my friends, but I didn't mind returning for the flatbread pizza and fries. (A little quirky but I order fries with almost everything.)
Our other favorite part of the meet was having a chance to sit down with some of you at Uno's. We really enjoyed these more personal conversations, and it feels good to know that there are others who understand and appreciate our love for Disney. I look forward to finding you all on DISboards, listening to the podcast more regularly (as advised), and we hope to see you again. We walked away with some excellent Disney, DVC and tax law tips.
Thanks for the laughs, and we'll see you at a future meet -- Dr. Dave and PrincessMonkey
