I had a 1999 Suburban- huge and roomy, even the third row, with lots of space for luggage.
It was a little more truck than I really needed, so I traded to an Expedition- perfect for my family and IMO easier to handle. BUT-- the third row in the Expedition seems pretty useless. You'd only want small people to sit there, and it leaves very little luggage room. I keep the third seat stored in the garage.
If you only need seating for 5, the Expedition is wonderful. For more than that, I'd look for a minivan or a Suburban.
(For those having trouble finding used Suburbans in good shape, have you checked in warm weather, non-coastal areas? Without the snow or salty air, the rust problems are vastly reduced. We rarely see rusty cars around Dallas.)
