Cheryl's WISH Journal (comments welcome)

I'm back! Well at least I'm here and hopefully by tomorrow all my good eating habits will be back. It has been a very BUSY week so I haven't had a chance to get back here earlier. I could use another weekend away LOL. We had a GREAT weekend. We laughed so much it was great! No jailhouse escapades but we had a saleslady at Penneys following us around after 1 of my friends tried to get a dress off of a manequin to try on because it was the only 1 they had in the size she wanted. The saleslady said we couldn't take it off the manequin and neither could she or she'd get in trouble and we should come back on Mon. (but we were going home Sun.) We shopped and ate and shoped and ate so I didn't do too well on my eating. As the weekend went on I slipped more and more into my old high carb ways and I've been having a hard time getting back on track. Today was a better eating day and I am planning on tomorrow being really good ;) .

I have been keeping up with the exercise at least.
Friday before we left I did the FIRM Total Body Sculpt upper and lower but didn't have time for the abs.
Sunday one of my friends and I went to the hotels workout room before th eother 2 got up and I did about 20 min on the Eliptical machine and 25 min on the treadmill. Monday I started the Couch to 5K Running Plan which says if I stick with it I should "be running 3 miles on a regular basis in just 2 months". Me running 3 miles?!? I'd have never thought it would be possible, we'll see, I am bound and determined to stick with this plan!
Monday 35 min walk/jog on treadmill and the FIRM Complete Aerobics and Weight Training
Tuesday rest day (from exercise at least) ;)
Today 35 min walk/jog on treadmill and the FIRM Total Sculpt Plus Abs

Tomorrow I will start journaling what I eat again too. I need to get back to being accountable for what I eat. I am afraid to step on the scale because I feel like I have gained which really wouldn't surprise me with the way I've been eating :( . Like I said I'm back and starting over yet again.

Ah, today is a brand new day.

I'm on the Couck to 5K thingy too! I ran 4 minutes straight last night. Boy was it tough, but I pulled through! It's hard to imagine that we'll be running 3 miles!!

Best of luck to you today. Hope it's a great one for you!:sunny:

Hey, Girlfriend, we've been here before. You can get back into the groove..........No problem! And you were still exercising, that's got to help, right??

I'm so glad you had a good time. Gee, you would think Penney's would want to make a sale! I think when I get thin I will celebrate by trying to take the clothes off the manequin. I mean, what? It's got to be size 6 or 8?? I would be thrilled!:teeth:

Have a great day, Cheryl! Welcome Home.

:sunny:

Hi Pam, we were amazed too, we thought that Penneys would have wanted to make the sale too, oh well. So far so good today with getting back into the groove. I know I can do this it's just soooo frustrating the way I keep letting myself yoyo! :yo-yo:

Desiree GREAT job running 4 min straight! I have only done 2 min straight so far but I keep alternating the running with the jogging. We will be sooooo proud of ourselves when we actually run 3 miles straight :D !

Today I just couldn't get myself out of bed before work to exercise so I had a day off from that but I plan on exercising the next 3 days in a row.

Breakfast 2 eggs, Canadian bacon, cheese

Snack Coffee with cream and SF Davinci

Lunch Chicken breast with cheese and salsa

Snack Atkins Advantag Chocolate Decadence and vitamin drink mix with water and Carb Countdown milk

Dinner

:wave2: Hi Cheryl. Just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy Friday. Hope you have a terrific day.

Oh boy, here I go again slipping with my journal. It has been a busy few days again and I don't have time right now to post what I've been eating but seeing how this has become my exercise journal I want to at least get that logged in so I can keep track of my training for the 1/2 marathon.

Thursday became another rest day (couldn't drag myself out of bed early enough before work).

Friday I did 45 min. on treadmill (finished last training sesion of week 1 in the Couch Potato to 5k training program)! I did a 5 min slow warm up then 5 min at 3.5mph then did the alternating walk/jog for 20 min and then added 5 min of walking at 4mph and finished with a 5 min cool down and stretching.

Tonight DH and DD are at a Girl Scout Father/Daughter dinner dance so I just did the FIRM Maximum Cardio Burn Plus Abs for the first time. WOW what a workout! I just hope that tomorrow I am not to sore to start week 2 of the Couch Patato Training!

Cheryl,

could you tell me where I could find out more about the couch potato to 5k (?) training program. Not running in any 5k's but this sounds so interesting.

Have a good day, and have fun at the dance. :cool1:

:sunny:

Cheryl, Good for you for finishing week 1! I'm finding that it's getting much easier as you go along. But that first week was a killer!

Just wanted to pop in and tell you :wave2: and wish you a great week!

hey cheryl, great job with starting the c25k program! i know it has worked wonders for so many people, i think it's great! helps you to ease into running, which is wonderful :bounce: . i get all sorts of excited when more people start running, since i just love it so much, it's great to share with others :teeth:

and for those looking for the c25k program, check out www.coolrunning.com i'm pretty sure they have it on there.

hope you have a great day cheryl :sunny:

Cheryl, I'm glad you're getting back in the groove. I know it always takes me a couple days to get back on track after getting off plan.

Best wishes for the C25K program! I started it but my knees just were not happy about running. They prefer that I walk. I'll be watching your progress and cheering for you though!!

I hope Tuesday turns out to be a terrific day!! :sunny:

Oh boy here I go again, it's been almost a week since I've posted to my journal or anyone elses or much of anything on DIS but I woke up Monday with a TERRIBLE head and chest cold. I haven't had a cold all winter and whamo this one has been a doozy. So I'm sorry WISH friends that look in here that I haven't been posting to any journals but I am starting to feel better today (if I could just stop the drippy nose and sneezing) and will hopefully get to some journals later this morning (I need to get some cleaning done today too, the house has become a disaster this week).

I really buckled down with my eating again on Mon. though. A friend started South Beach on Monday and I figured I'd get back down to induction or very close to help her along. I also decided that for the last 2 weeks of Lent I would not drink anything but water or low carb high protein drinks and my vitamin drink; no diet soda, no coffee, nothing else. So far so good! When I weighed in last week I was back up to my original weight yet again  but today I am down 5 pounds so I can legally wear my 5 pound clippie again :D . Other than this cold I feel good and very determined to make this work! 10 weeks from today we leave for our vacation on Hilton Head Island and if I could loose 10 pounds by then I'd be exstatic (?spelling  ) and I'd also be within 3 pounds of my goal. I figure an average of 1 pound a week should be doable if I just stick with this low carb WOE once and for all!

I did force myself to exercise the last 2 days and will get back here later to put that in and start journaling but I have to run now to get ready for church, DD is a "greeter" for her class mass this morning.

Try not to overdo it! I'm glad your starting to get better but just make sure you don't relapse! Hoping you get to feeling much better! Have a great Friday!

Oh, Cheryl,

I was wondering where you were. I wasn't here for a couple of days either, life got a little hectic. I'm sorry you were/are sick but it sounds like it didn't throw you off at all. Good girl.

Hey, I think the giving up diet soda until after Easter is a great idea. Mind if I do that with you?? I haven't been bad with the soda, but sometimes I get such a craving for it, I feel like I might give in at any moment.

Hope today you feel better. Have a great one, buddie! :sunny:

Hi Desiree and Pam, Thanks for the well WISHes :D . I am starting to feel better and I'll watch it that I don' overdo it! I did do one of my FIRM tapes this morning but I would have stopped and stretched if I was feeling like I was overdoing it (I did have to stop and blow my nose a few times so I got little rest in between that way ;) ). I actually feel better for awhile right after I exercise. Desiree thanks for the concern!

Pam, sure you can join me in my giving up the diet soda!!! I don't drink alot of it either but sometimes I do get tired of drinking so much water and it's nice to have something with flavor to drink. The thing that has been really hard for me to give up drinking is my flavored coffee, I am really craving a cup today, but I am bound and determined not to have any!!!!!

I am starting over with my WISH bear for the month again. I made it 21 days last month which is probably the most cheat free days in a month I have ever accomplished! I am hoping to do even better this month!!

Now for logging in the exercise that I did get in this week:

Sunday I did start week 2 of C25K program.

Monday and Tuesday became rest days because of my cold :( .

Wednesday did the FIRM Super Body Sculpt and slow walk on treadmill for 30 min., 1.54 miles, 136 cal

Thursday did day 2 of this weeks C25K training, it was tough but I made it.:D

April 2, 2004

Breakfast 2 eggs, cheese, vitamin drink

Exercise The FIRM Complete Aerobics and Weight Training

Lunch Salmon and creamed spinach

Exercise for April 3, 2004 I walked on the treadmill, I started the last day of week 2 of C25K but couldn't keep up with the jogging because of my cold and had to do this early in the morning before breakfast or I wouldn't have gotten it in. I seem to have more energy if I can get breakfast 1-1 1/2 hours before working out. I went 41 min., for 2.46 miles and 213 cal so even though I didn't run as much I did them walk at 4mph pace.

I did stick to low carb eating for the day, even though it was a crazy day.

April 4, 2004

Breakfast Scrambled eggs with bacon, cheese and onion, vitamin drink

Lunch I scraped the cheese and sausage of some left over Pizza Hut pizza and had some sf jello with Redi Whip

Snack Vitamin drink and low carb protein shake

Dinner DD and I shared a grilled chicken salad from DQ (she and DH then had cheesequake blizzards but I didn't even try a bite of either of theirs, I was so tempted though but held strong :D )

My cold is almost gone today but it turned into an unplanned rest day anyways. I planned on doing a FIRM tape after church today but just after getting home I recieved a phone call that one of my best friends mom had died. After that I had to call some other friends and let them know and I just didn't feel like it anymore.

Tomorrow I don't work so I'm going to try and get in both the treadmill and a FIRM strength tape. The next 2 weeks are going to be very hectic and it will be a challenge to get my exercise in but I'll do my best!

Cheryl,

So sorry to hear about your friend's mom. This is the part of getting older that is hard, isn't it?? It's not myself getting older that is my problem, but it is inevitable to have friends, family members, parents die. I can get SO melancholy at times like these.

I'm glad your cold is better, though. And good going on not giving into that temptation!! Way to go, girlie! :bounce: I'm so proud of you.

Try and have a good day, ok buddie?? I'll be thinking of you.

:sunny:

Pam, Thanks for the good thoughts! They must be helping all the way around because I am feeling much better today! I am tired though because I had a busy night on call for work last night so I thought I'd spend a little time on the boards while my breakfast digests and then take a little nap before getting in my exercise for the day.

I know what you mean about not having a problem with getting older myself, but the fact that the older we get the more loved ones we seem to loose. As hard as it is we just have to remember that they have gone to a better place and some day we will join them in heaven (but I hope not for a long time yet) :D

I managed to complete the first week of my last 2 weeks of Lenten intentions not to drink anything but water, protien drinks and my vitamins. This morning I soooo badly wanted a cup of coffee with cream and SF DaVinci flavoring, but so far I haven't given in to it. I must say I do keep thinking of the movie the Passion and what Jesus did for me and how I can give up a simple cup of coffee for him.

April 5, 2004

Breakfast Vitamin drink and low carb protein drink

Exercise Treadmill 41 min started 3rd week of C25K and actually ran 3 miles straight twice, 217 cal, 2.5miles! Also did the FIRM Super Body Sculpt My legs are a little sore ;)

Lunch Salmon and creamed spinach

Snack It's been a bad snacking afternoon :( Why is it when I'm tired I'm more hungry and it's so much easier to give in to temptation  Well even though I snacked on a lot it was low carb things
I had another low carb protein shake, a low carb bar and some Breyers low carb ice cream mixed with peanut butter (at least that was better than if I would have given in to the Blizzard at DQ yesterday)

Dinner Steph's Yummy Chicken Stuff from the low carb recipe board

And that is going to be ALL for today!! I am going to sew my lips shut now ;) , seriously I think I should go brush my teeth and put in my retainer right away so that all I can have is water yet tonight.

hey cheryl, good to see you back again! so sorry you had a nasty cold, but i'm glad to see it's clearing up!

that's a great goal you've set of drinking only water/protein shakes for the last 2 weeks of lent. you're almost there! you can do it!

hope you have a great day today :sunny:
