Dawn: 'Okay.' She sat next to Marcus and pulled his limp body onto her lap and had to hold his head against her chest or he'd just let it fall back. "you'll be okay. Okay?"
Marcus: "Okay." He said quietly.
Dawn: "We're all here to help, okay?"
Marcus: "Okay." He repeated.
Dawn: she sighed and held him tight. "You need some sleep."
Marcus: "Okay."
Dawn: she picked him up. It made her chest hurt but he was very light. It didn't make sense. He was so muscular in his arms and legs. She lifted his shirt up slightly with no objections from him. She could see parts of his ribcage poking from his skin and he barely had a stomach. It was very clear he hadn't been eating, he'd been faking. "Marcus, honey, how long has it been since you've eaten?"
Marcus: "I don't know, a week? I can't keep it down anyways, so don't try feeding me."
Dawn: She laid him on the bed and removed his shirt. She took a picture that showed how thin he was and sent it to Jordan. 'We need to monitor his food intake. He hasn't eaten in a week.'
Marcus: he watched helplessly as she performed these tasks. "He shouldn't be worried about me. He shouldn't care."
Dawn: "Well, he is and he does."
Karen: she watched Dawn.
Jordan: he looked at the picture 'what? Oh no. I had no idea. I'll come home as soon as school is over.' How had he not noticed! He got up to leave class but stopped hearing his name.
Teacher: "Jordan" he waved him over to his desk.
Jordan: he looked at him puzzled but walked over.
Teacher: "let's go, hand it over. you know the rules" he held his hand out.
Jordan: he looked down at his phone in his hand but closed his hand around it "I'll put it away. Please."
Teacher "no, you can get it at the end of the day" his hand was still out.
Jordan: "I'm sorry. I can't, I really can't."
Teacher: "do I need to give your mother a call?"
Jordan: "no!"
Teacher: "then give me the phone Jordan."
Jordan: he looked down "I can't" he said quietly.
Teacher: "why? It's just a phone."
Jordan: he spoke quietly "because one of my friends is suicidal and this phone is the only thing letting me know if I need to rush home to try and save him. It's taking everything for me to be here sir. I'm sorry."
Teacher: he froze and lowered his hand onto his desk he could tell Jordan wasn't lying. "oh, okay. I'll notify your other teachers to let them know you can have it out."
Jordan: "don't tell them why."
Teacher: "I'll just say it's important. You can go."
Jordan: "thank you, thank you sir." he walked into the hall his phone still in his hand.
