Hi all,

I know everyone says it's each to his own in tastes etc. however I was hoping everyone could put that aside and give me an opinion on the better restaurant:
Chefs De France or Coral Reef (I currently hold a reservation here),

Based on food quality and service, I know coral reef has the giant aquarium which is cool but I am there for a good quality meal

Please let me know and please be as truthful as you can,

Thankyou,

Keep the Coral Reef ADR. Chefs was awful. It was like frozen boxed blech. Someone on here once described Chefs as 'French Applebee's" - and that's a good description - a really bad visit to a place with Applebee's quality food, at best.

However, Coral Reef was hit and miss for me. The appetizer I had was wonderful, but the entree was somewhat icky. The service was much better than Chefs and at least 1 of the dishes I had was enjoyable.

Gee I like Applebee's, maybe that explains why I like both restaurants and even like San Angle :), but if I were to choose one and we did this for the upcoming trip I would go to Coral Reef.

While the food quality at both has declined, IMO Chef's is better for food, Coral Reef is better for atmosphere -- although these days with the DDP, dinners at Coral Reef are pretty noisy and harried with kids running all over. I recommend lunch if you're going to do Coral Reef. Much more enjoyable as the DDP participants use their table credits for dinner, not lunch.

Frankly, nearly all of the 1TS restaurants are on a par with Appleby's these days. Nothing really special foodwise about any of them, sad to say. That was not always the case. It was true in the 80s and early 90s. Then, there was something of a determination on Disney's part to improve dining at WDW and things actually got better. Things have now come full circle and it's back to average or worse most everywhere other than the signature dining restaurants and the Swan/Dolphin restaurants that don't take DDP.

At Chef's we like the cheese plate and the short ribs. The escargot is also very good. The filet is good when available, but is not always on the menu -- especially any time free dining is being offered. I've also had a tasty roast chicken there from time to time. Wine choices are better at Chef's. Avoid the tuna, which is way overcooked, presumably to appeal to the average diner who isn't crazy about rare tuna.

Since the DDP does not include wine, there are still very good wines available by the glass at Chef's (for a price).

We have gone to both and prefer Chefs de France. When we ate at Coral Reef we had the worst service, my son grilled chicken was under cooked and my fish was so bad we left the restaurant hunger and when to Sunshine Season for lunch.
