Chefs de France - Should I prepare to be sad???

We ate there for a last minute dinner in April and it was incredible.....we had the the soup and the bacon onion flatbread, the mac and cheese and the roasted chicken and we loved it all!

I've never eaten there but would LOVE to based on all the good reviews I've read! Funny that the OP has seen only bad reviews because I've seen only good!

Never had a bad meal there. In fact, CDF is a reliable stand-by when I cannot make up my mind for dinner at Epcot. Check out Kevin's review of it. He seemed quite surprised after having heard negative comments about it.

We ate here in September, and I hate to say we were disappointed. We are not overly picky or food snobs. We just like a good meal and it was just o.k. My husband had the duck and didn't finish it. I hate to say I can't remember what I ate, so I guess it was unmemorable. We won't be back soon. It was noisy and crowded.

I have a nice review in my dining report.

We really enjoyed our meal there.

If you've ever been to a bistro in France, this will remind you of it. The only "off notes" are that the drink prices are in dollars, not euros (or, before that, francs) and your waitperson will try to have a conversation with you. ;)

It wasn't a quick meal, but we weren't in a hurry to be anywhere, and it was good.

I love this restaurant! We went there for the first time in Sept. 07 and it was awesome. It's on my "to-do" list now.

We've eatten there twice and had one great experiance and one poor one. The food was great both times, but the 2nd time we went the waiter was a prick! I've been told "the french waiters are that way" but i've been to france a few times and they're not that bad!!!! I blame our bad experiance on the bad waiter!

The french onion soup is very good, so are the desserts. I had some chicken dish when we went last and it was really good! The food is freshly made and flavorful.

As with any bad waiter(or waitress) you get, always know that you can request a different one if the one you've gotten sticks! Just do it nicely and you'll probably get great service.

I would hope that a restaurant choice would never make you sad, but I can understand how you could be disappointed in a choice particularly if you had to give up a chance at one of Disney's great restaurants. If it makes you feel better, Chefs is on my "must do" list for each trip - and has been since I went with my parents when I was little. Food's good, I find the staff to be very pleasant and friendly, and I like the ambiance. It is certainly not high on everyone's list, but I thoroughly enjoy it - and value wise the "french menu" at lunch can't be beat.

I hope you enjoy Chefs and the rest of your vacation!!

We always eat there but be warned the service staff is uppity. Every time we've gone (7 times thus far) The staff are FRENCH and speak to one another in French in front of you. It just gives you that feeling they are talking about you. We have never been disappointed by the food. The staff is snotty and quite rude. I am told that is typical French service. We have never tipped very well there but we always return because of the food. On our last visit the waiter dropped a plate of hot food right in front of our DD. They even tried to bill us for the plate of food the waiter dropped. Outrageous!! I still think that if the dropped food had happened at any other Disney rest. we would have at the least been offered a free des. Oh well.

We've eaten there several times, and have booked it again this year for our CP package. We've never had a bad meal...:goodvibes

What I've learned by reading all the posts is to take everything with a grain of salt and if you really want to do something, try it for yourself. I had panic attacks about booking CBR for January after I saw someone had their room broken into! But then I realized that there were 120 positive reports somewhere else and I was only focusing on the negative ones I saw. The same with CRT. Oh no. This had a horrible time and disasterous food there. What if my kids hate it? We went and my kids loved it.

I hope you do decide to go and come back and tell us all about it! Who knows maybe I'll book it for my next trip based on your report. :)

love chefs de france. and so will you.

Thanks soooo much! I feel much better now. We were having a hard time deciding and passed up other restaurants we wanted to try for this one, so glad to hear it has lots of fans! :goodvibes

Add me to the list of those giving a thumbs up to Chefs de France (and even more enthusiastically to the Bistro upstairs). The real interesting tidbit here is that the restaurant is owned by three very famous French chefs, Gaston Lenotre, Roger Verge and Paul Bocuse. Bocuse is one of the most recognizable chefs in the world, and even at the age of 81, he still visits the restaurant frequently (his son Jerome is the manager).
Enjoy

We just returned and Chefs de France was the best meal of our trip!! LOVED the food. The waiter, and the rest of the staff were all very friendly as well. I'm working on our next itinerary to fit it in again!
