We want to try a new restaurant at Epcot and have chosen France. In 12 trips we have never been there. The menu sounds better at the Bistro but I like the ambience of the one downstairs.

So for those who have eaten there...which one would you pick and what did you like to eat there. We are not very adventurous in food and will prob pick a chicken and a beef dish.

thanks :goodvibes

First question - do you have kids? If so, I'd say Chefs hands down. Bistro is much more formal, no kids menu.

We have eaten at both and personally I prefered Chefs. Mostly b/c I was disappointed in Bistro (perhaps with different expectations I would have been happier). DH and I went expecting an amazing, romantic anniversary meal. The food was good, service not so great, view of illuminations (which I had been told to expect) was nonexistent, and our table was close enough that I could hold our neighboring diner's hand (not to mention hear every word of their conversation). That being said, the food was very good, although pricey (which we knew).

I know lots of folks love Bistro, I just didn't feel the atmosphere and price were worth it for me. I like Chefs much more. It is still nice food but a more relaxed atmosphere and better prices. Just my 2 cents! I hope it helps!

BTW, have you looked at menus? That might help... JJ

Since you said you are not very food adventurous, I would pick downstairs.

Not only is the food more Un-adventurous, but the atmosphere is more casual and better views as well.

We like chef's- we've only eaten there for lunch though- we can't resist le menu: onion soup, ham & cheese w/salad, and one of our favorites: creme brulee all for $15!

We had the "French Menu" that you mentioned and it is fantastic! So much food, too.

Not sure if this applies to you, but if I recall correctly, Bistro is not on DDP. Chefs is....

Thanks for all the replies. Yes I have looked at the menus for both...chefs appeals to us more now.

The price went up for The French Menu at lunchtime to $17.95.

A vote here for Bistro if you have no kids. We went here on Valentines Day this year. After hearing some negative rpts, I wasn't sure that I wanted to go, but this was the last of the nicer WDW restaurants that we had not been to. I was so surprised. Dinner was wonderful, we had a table next to the window and had a view of Illuminations. I think that the holiday may have added, a lot of couples, they gave me a rose, and had a special VD menu. It was a very romantic evening. I did not think the tables were any closer than other places and certainly not as close as Alfredos. Service was excellent. I didn't think it was any more pricy than any of the other nicer restaurants. I'm not a big fan of downstairs. Our food as been so so and service spotty and a little too hectic at times.

Has anyone tried the new burger at Chefs?

My Kingdom for a pic...or even a good description, LOL.
