When we made our ADR for Chef Mickey's, the CM suggested that it would be quicker for us to walk to the Contemporary vs. taking the monorail (CM said the monorail would take approx. 20 min.) from MK. Anyone tried walking before? We will also have a 6 yr. old and a 1 yr. old (in a stroller). :confused3 Thank You!

We always use the monorail. With your kids being young and may already be tired from walking in the parks, I would suggest using the monrail. You can also ask if there is room in the front and sit up there. The driver will then give each child a "drivers license". We have sat up front twice and the kids enjoy it. :sunny:

It is a nice 5 minute walk. We've walked many many times with our 2 girls.

If you are in a hurry, walk. If the monorail looks crowded, walk. If you aren't in a hurry and it's not crowded, then enjoy the monorail ride.

The ONLY con to walking is having to cross a street at one point but to me it's never been an issue. Some people don't like that you have to cross a street at all.

Yes, it is and easy walk and definately much quicker than taking monorail. The cm was right on with that suggestion.

Definitely walk. It is a nice path and at the street there is a light so you don't have to worry about crossing. WE stayed at the POP and we felt it would have taken us longer to walk to the monorail stop from where we were dropped off.
Enjoy!

If you are going to Chef Mickey's at an off peak time the monorail would be pretty good. But you may have to wait for a while, especially if you just missed one. If it's during peak time the monoral will be crowded. As others have said, it's a nice walk....5-10 minutes tops. We walked to the CR last month for the first time and were surprised on how close it really is.

Stupid question, but how do you walk to there? Which direction would you go when you leave the park?

When you leave the park, you'll be heading left, following the pathway that parallels the monorail pylons. Just keep following the personalized brick trail.

And for something completely irrelevant:
When did we get the Maleficent bouncy smiley? I'm diggin it!

I know. I noticed the earlier. Pretty neat. :maleficen

We stayed at the Contemporary two weeks ago and always found it faster to take the monorail to CR from MK -EXCEPT at park closing. CR is the first stop on the resorts monorail -it NEVER took us 20 mins. The opposite is true leaving CR for MK, it is then shorter to walk. Just eyeball the monorail waiting area in MK for crowds. If it looks crowded, take the 5-10 min walk to CR by turning left (as you exit MK) and just follow the monorail track.
