DH and I are going to WDW at the end of January. What time should I make reservations for Chef Mickey's so that we can get a good view of Wishes at 8? I got 7:30, but think that might be too late to get a good seat. Any tricks for getting a good seat?

There is an observation deck on one of the floors of the Contemporary resort. Perhaps thats what you were thinking of? I do not much about it, but Ive read it on a few other posts.
If your ADR is for 7:30, I do not think a half an hour would give you enough time to eat, and spend time with all of the characters. I guess it depends how fast you eat? We found that it generally took close to an hour for ALL of the characters to visit our party,

You can't see any of Wishes from Chef Mickey's, it faces in the opposite direction from MK.

There's a viewing platform on the other end of the building where you can get a nice view of Wishes. You'll want to walk out of Chef Mickey's, and keep walking straight towards the other end of the building.....you're basically following the monorail beam towards the glass wall. You'll find a small exit door right at the end of the building that leads out to the viewing platform.

There is no fireworks view from Chef Mickeys. The restaurant with the view is California Grill.

Thanks everyone! Don't know how I could have messed it up that much.:confused3
