Chef Mickey's: We are three older adults

and I made ressies for Chef Mickey's for dinner and now I'm feeling out of place with it. Should I change it?

We are 56, 73, andd 88 and I'm starting to think this place is really for families with younger children. Am I wrong?

It doesn't have to be just for families with children. I think if you would normally wait in a line in the parks for character pics and autographs, then CM may be worth your time. I've seen other groups of just adults there.

However, if you are going strictly for the dining experience, you'd be better off at the Wave or another monorail TS restaurant. The food is okay at CM - typical buffet fare. The draw is really the characters, not the food.

No! Do not change it! Go and have a great time. We still go to CMs with our teen-aged kids and I wouldn't hesitate to go without kids at all.

As long as you understand that there will be lots of kids there and aren't looking for a quiet, adults-only meal you'll have a great time.

Grown-ups can love Mickey too!

It doesn't matter how old you are because Chef Mickey's is for anyone of any age, so I would keep your ADR.

DH and myself went ate at CP this past March, we don't have children YET and we loved it. I only scheduled one character meal (did it for the food) thinking I would feel out of place. But honestly at DW we are all children.
This trip I have 3 Character meals planned, CP again (we loved it that much), Chef Mickey's because believe it or not I didn't see Mickey last trip!! and finally Donald's breakfast. I am so excited. I will get into the characters more this time, last time I felt "shy" about it. But hey we are kids at heart.

If you are worried about it because you are afraid you won't fit in with the other families, and you know you like character meals, then don't worry about it and go.

If you are worried that it will be loud and chaotic, it will be. If you are asking because you would not be comfortable with loud and chaotic and with children running everywhere, OR if you are going there primarily because you are interested in the food and not the characters, then I probably would suggest that you try another restaurant.

I totally agree with this. It's going to be loud and chaotic. As long as you are ok with it, have a fabulous time!

Keep It! It's not only for adults. My brother is a teen and is very picky about these things and he even likes going there.

I'm a kid at heart and I know I'll love it.

Kids being happy and loud will never bother me.

Hopefully my companions will be alright, too.

My DH and I went a few years back just the 2 of us and had a blast! Definitely didn't feel out of place and had a lot of fun watching the kids interact with the characters. We went a little later around 10:30 and there weren't many young kids there any more.

Absolutely you should go. My husband and I have been to Chef Mickey's many, many times by ourselves. We celebrated his 45th birthday there a couple years ago and just yesterday, I made the ADR to celebrate my birthday there in December.

The characters are fabulous and you will love the photos you take with them.

It's a fun, fun place, and yes, a little loud and chaotic depending on how well people are controlling their children.

Go and have a great time.

I don't like chaos, I don't like crowds and I don't like lots of kids around but I am in my 50's, DH and I went by ourselves in June and I absolutely loved it!!!! I say, go and have a blast. DH and I received as much attention from the characters as the kids did.

We have been to Chef Mickeys several times when our children were different ages. This summer we went once again, this time they were 18 and 14. It was a very different experience. Suddentl the food was not as good and no one was really not as interested in getting pictures wiith the characters. The long and short is as adults unless you really want to see the characters up close and personal I would go some place else. The food is okay... not great. Personally, if we were to do it again we would skip Chef Mickeys.

We went to chef Mickey's a couple of weeks ago. We're four adults, and we never felt out of place!

It was a great experience, one I'm happy we had and would do again in a heartbeat

I made my ADR's at most places that I can avoid the chaos-not traveling with children this trip. I think my only loud one will be Ohana. Please don't think I have anything against children-not so. I have a grandson who we will be taking to Disney World in 2 years-and I am sure we will be back at Chef Mickey's and other character meals. If you are looking for another alternative at the Contemporary, how about the Wave.
