Hello! We are heading back to the World in May with our two kids, DD7, DS4. We haven't been there since 2003. Last time we went, we did Chef Mickey's for B-fst, which was great. We're looking for a good Character dinner and was tossed between Chef Mickey's (we've never done dinner there) or Liberty Tree Tavern (we've never been here before). We will be on the DDP. If anyone has any other character dinners they would recommend, bring it on.

Thanks so much. I'm going crazy trying to make my ADR's. It's become my life!!!!!:thumbsup2

While we have done both and enjoyed both, I think Chef Mickey's may be a little more "fun" for the kids, especially when they do the song and napkin-swinging. My children enjoyed that. We do enjoy the atmosphere at LTT though - it's neat seeing the characters in their colonial outfits.

I like CM for breakfast. For a dinner, I would recommend either Crystal Palace or LTT. It just depends what type of food your children like!:goodvibes

Happy Planning!

I would go for Chef Mickey or Crystal Palace. We tried LTT before the MNSSHP last year and I was very disappointed. I don't think I'll be returning there anytime soon. :)

We personally liked LTT, but we went for lunch. DD4 and DS13months liked it there as well, although I must admit it has to be hit or miss according to the many reviews and posts I have read here. It is served family style, as I'm sure you know, and we found our service to be very prompt with the courses. There was more than enough food, you could even ask for more if you like. DD4 was a big fan of the mac & cheese, as that was what she lived off of that trip, as well as the apple cobbler a la mode. Do note, the food here is a little on the bland side, be prepared to pick up that salt and pepper shaker! But I like to try something new, and think it's worth a try.

We try to do both on each trip but I would definitely recommend Chef Mickey's with the kids. The atmosphere is more jovial there. LTT can get crowded and the characters seem rushed at times.

We've done both and we like CM much better. LTT was good, but the selection of food at CM is far greater. For the most part its the same characters (No Mickey at LTT), but we found the character interaction at CM better. We'll be doing CM again in November but are passing on LTT. Crystal Palace is also a great choice, we'll be doing that again in Nov also.

I would have to vote for Liberty Tree if you enjoy a more intimate, quiet atmosphere. The characters were great when we went there and spent MUCH more time with the kids than at Chef Mickey's. The food was good at either place, but I find family style easier for us with young kids. Buffets are a bit tough sometimes for us.
Either one would be good though. I don't think you could choose poorly between those two!

I know what you mean about PDR planning taking over your life! We're in the middle of it too for our August trip.
There seems to be a toss up between votes for Chef Mickey & Liberty Tree Tavern among the posts! Personally, I like LTT better. CM is ok, but it's very hectic. The layout of the room is condusive to character anticipation the entire meal because they are in view. Kids and parents (mostly moms) were getting up and going over the characters with camera in hand. Seemed no one wanted to wait. At one point, when they finally got to our table, there was a crowd that followed along...very annoying. Also, CM is a buffet and it was a bit difficult to get the kids thru the line. LTT has great character intervention as they spend more time at each table, with no little ones following behind. The food was great and it was brought to the table, so once we were seated we could stay put and wait for the food and the characters.

LTT gets my vote. We like it because it's family style and not a buffet. We loved the characters dressed up in "period clothes" and we loved being right in the MK. Not that it's a long ride to MK from the Contemporary, but we were just not impressed with Chef Mickey's for some reason. The napkin swinging was fun, though.
