Chef Mickey Mouse

Cool...Was he taking pictures with other guests at other tables?

Oh, I hope it doesn't stay that way...we're having Dinner there is December.

Mickey Mouse is not visiting tables at Chef Mickey's anymore. Apparently, he is hanging around in the lobby taking photos with guests before they are seated.

This is only a test for now, but I hope it doesn't keep. Just my two cents.

Thanks for keeping us updated Leah.

 Just like Donald Duck is out in front of Tusker House for the breakfast buffet.... AWE - so sweet to get a picture with the kids and Donald

OH - breakfast is over - here comes a nice Cast Member - "Would you like to buy the picture packet - no sorry - you can't buy just one, you have to take them all. It's only $50+ "
Sorry kids, Mommy and Daddy don't have the extra % so you can have a picture....
Child starts crying - parents pay bill - out they go for a day of enjoyment at the theme parks....

Thanks Disney :thumbsup2

I REALLY hope they don't keep it this way.

Character dining is one of the few reasons we DO table service dining. And I think it's one of the things that sets Disney apart. If I wanted to wait in line to see Mickey, I'd do it at the parks. I like the kind of interaction you get from having them come to your table. They can joke with you for a while...one day at Crystal Palace Pooh sat down and pretended to eat our food...little interactions like that, that happen randomly, not generally in a meet and greet line.

I wonder what the reasoning behind this idea is:confused3....probably to save money..

The dining board is reporting they tested it and it was a FAIL so it is back to the way it was.

WDW Today also tweeted this morning that they have gone back to the old way as it was a fail.

You can just ask the cast member to take a picture with your camera - they will do that. So then you can say - no kids we don't need to buy the picture we had them take one with our camera.

Good to hear they are going back to the original format!

I'm not surprised it was a fail. I too can picture many irate families complaining, "I paid a lot of money so I didn't have to wait in line for characters!!" :furious:

I can't say that I'd blame them, either. It is a lot of money, and the main focus is the character interaction. Glad those of you going will have it the "old" way.

We were at Chef Mickeys for dinner on Fri (9/17) and Mickey was out front. I felt really rushed. We had the photographer take a picture with our camera but the picture was terrible, he was too far away and it wasn't even centered. Not to mention, there was no interaction with him. I also wasn't able to get a picture with just the kids. They were quite insistent that Mom and Dad get in the picture too.

Once we were seated, we saw Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. But again, I felt rushed. I think we were in and out in 45 minutes. We only heard the Celebrate song once. And there was no character or cast members in our room when the song came on so nobody (except us and only because we've been there before) knew we were supposed to wave our napkins. The other families in our room were looking at my kids like they were crazy.

I was very disappointed with Chef Mickey's this year. It seemed to lack any excitement.

The fun of Chef Mickey's was having all the characters come to the table. My son loved when we went back in June. The only characters we saw were at character dining, since we didn't stand in lines for character autographs.

I'm relieved! We're eating at Chef Mickey's for the first time on Thanksgiving and I was really disappointed to think we'd have to pay $30 for the photo at the entrance to get one with Chef Mickey.
