We are taking our first DVC trip as new owners to SSR in September. We will have our DS who will be almost 3 and want to take him to Chef Mickey's. When is the best time to go as far as food is concerned? He isn't a big early breakfast eater so we could do a late morning breakfast or early dinner since I don't think they offer lunch so I am looking for opinions on when the best variety/selection/etc is offered.

I'm going to move this over to the Disney restaurants board, I think you'll get a wider variety of responses there :)

I really prefer dinner at Chef Mickey's. But we are not morning people or big breakfast eaters in my family so I am biased! We have done breakfast and enjoyed it but just fine that dinner suits us better. You can't go wrong with either, but if you aren't too keen on breakfast having dinner then heading over to the MK for Spectro and Wishes is a great Disney evening.

At breakfast they have the standard eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, muffins, danish, donuts, Mickey waffles, pancakes and probably a bunch of stuff I cannot think of.

At dinner, they have a nice salad bar with fruit, cheese and peel and eat shrimp. They have a kids buffet with chicken nuggets, pizza, mac and cheese, french fries etc. On the regular buffet, they always have one or two carved meats, a seafood item (usually salmon), mashed potatoes, usually a pasta, vegetables, and lots more. They also have a nice dessert bar with some nice selections and build your own sundaes.

Chef Micey's is so much fun, your son will love it!

P.S. You will love SSR, its our home resort too and we love it!

we always did breakfast at chef mickeys. i cant remember ever going there as a kid and eating dinner. we loved the character environment but its a crazy place!! the food was pretty good if i remember correctly.

Breakfast, but we're early morning risers and love eggs, bacon, etc...

My 4 year old hates most breakfast food. Happy with just fruit so we don't waste are DP points on the breakfasts. Plus we like to get to the parks early. We loved it for dinner in November. We are going back in July again. The food is good and the characters are wonderful!

We're going for breakfast, but breakfast is my favorite meal and my favorite to eat out. Last year we did Crystal Palace. We had a late seating, so it was more of a brunch. We also went on the day of MK Morning EMH, so we did the park early and got to ride all the best rides, then had breakfast right as it was getting really busy. After breakfast, we headed out of the park and went elsewhere, which was much less crowded.

We have done both and were pleased with both!

We have done an early morning ADR and a later breakfast one. We also did an early dinner ADR.

How was the breakfast? Is there godd reviews? We are definately eating breakfast there and dinner at the CP on the same day. I have go dinner reviews for CM and good Breakfast reviews for CP,but we are doing the opposiste.
I'd like to hear how people like the breakfast there.

Dinner on arrival night and breakfast on departure day..we've only had breakfast there on prev trips, but we're trying it for dinner in May.

Both breakfast and dinner are probably fun there. We're not big breakfast eaters so we eat that in the room so we eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner. Either time you go, make sure you swing those napkins for me! That's my favorite part!

We've only ever been for breakfast, and we love it :yay: , we're going back on the 11th June but ssssshhhh our DD's have no idea :rotfl: , everytime we talk about WDW they ask what about Chef Mickey's? and my reply is we've eaten there twice shall we try somewhere else?, and then they sing CELEBRATE with a napkin around their heads :lmao: and the breakfast is lovely, loads to choose from.

So...since I have never been there before, and don't know...is there some guest participation and singing going on? I bet that is fun!!:thumbsup2
