Can anyone tell me about Chef de France? We are thinking of doing that for the Candlelight Proc because we love filet mignon and french onion soup. I have done Le Cellier, L'Originale d'Alfredo(?) and Coral reef before and we want to do something new. Any thoughts or advice would be great! Thanks!

I haven't had dinner at this restaurant but my husband and I did have lunch there last October and the food was fabulous. The service was good, the atmosphere was elegant and relaxed, and did I mention that the food was fabulous? :teeth:

I hope you try it and that you enjoy it as much as we did.

I agree w. the above poster, Chef de France is very, very good!
Food, service and atmosphere makes this one of our favorite Epcot restaurants. You feel like you are in a French Cafe.

Give it a try!

Do you remember what you had for dinner? I am looking for someone who has had the filet and onion soup.

eaten the exact foods you are questioning! My husband said that the filet came in a close third behind JIKO's #1 and the CG's #2. High praise from a very picky meat-eater!

I have had their French Onion soup for lunch with their salad and I have to say that it is delicious! There is nothing better than yummy carmelized onions in a sodium rich broth with delicious cheese on top with homemade croutons inside! YUMMY!

Hope that helps you decide! :wave2:

I didn't have either of those meals (although the soup for lunch is on my "to do" list) but we've eaten there and also loved it. The atmosphere is lovely, especially if you can get a seat by the window. Service was excellent and so was the food. Enjoy!

We ate dinner at Chef de France and it was excellent. The service was a little "French," at time a little unattentive as he pursued the French woman on staff, but he was a great guy. Took care of our children and grandparents needs and overall made our dining experience very memorable.

Soupe a l'oignon gratinée
The classic onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese - $4.75
was excellent::yes::

Canard a l'orange
Roasted breast of duck with a sweet and sour orange sauce,
served with French green beans and potato gratin - $23.95
very good choice too

Le filet de boeuf grillé, sauce au poivre noir et son gratin Dauphinois
Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce served with the original potato gratin of Savoy - $25.95
excellent ::yes::

Wine::yes:: very good:drinking1

I don't think there is a bad selection here

I'm interested in trying Chefs too. I'd like to do lunch there on our last day, but haven't made a PS because it will probably be a last minute decision. Anyone have any idea how hard it is to get a table without a PS during value season (end of Sept.)??

TIA!

We ate there in 2001 for the CP dinner package, and I had the filet, which was wonderful! I ate lunch there last December and had the French onion soup.....yummy! I can also highly recommend their creme brulee! :)

This is also our fav. restaurant in Epcot. I agree that you can't go wrong, no matter what you order. DH always has steak, but DS(12) and I prefer the duck. This is a good place to try escargot, if you haven't tried it. DS and I always thought it sounded disgusting, but neither of us will ever pass up a chance to challenge our palette. My extended family always think we're crazy, because if there's anything on the menu that we've never had or heard of, that's what we order. :p Back to the escargot. We ate here on the CP package and ordered it, out of curiousity, several years ago, and now we're hooked. We'll be having it again on Christmas Eve. ::yes::

As for the PS, I can't really speak about lunch, or anything before 6 pm for that matter, but I've never seen anyone be able to walk up and get in here after 6pm, no matter what time of year. Sorry, I wasn't more help about lunch, but maybe someone else can answer for you.

One of our top choices for restaurants. Chefs de France is
excellent. Good choice!

We ate at Chef de France as part of the CPDP last year and just loved it. I had the escargot for starters and it was fantastic. I also had lamb for my main meal & creame brulee as my dessert and they were both excellent also. Chef de France is a great place to eat.

The food was pretty good, I enjoyed the filet, DH liked his duck. I did not like the atmosphere, it was so crowded that we had to move our table to be able to get out when it was time to leave because the other parties were so close. Since it was our anniversary meal I would have enjoyed a softer lit, more private meal. We had an entree, salad and split a dessert. I am pretty sure after strolling around EPCOT that evening we went somewhere else for another snack because the portions were very much geared toward a Euro-style of meal, ordering more courses than what we expected or found at other places. Honestly, we haven't been back since, and neither of us are looking to. While I don't know of other places on property for soup (except for Bistro de Paris), there are many other places with great steak and with better atmosphere.

Ok, we did it! We have PS for Chef de France for the Candlelight on 12/8/04!! Thanks for all of your input, I am so excited!
