:goodvibes Bump! What's new?

I have a 5-day weekend (then I work two twelve-hour shifts, than I have a 6 day weekend!! ).

Right now, there's a guy on the roof trying to find the source of a leak, AND I'm waiting for an insurance adjuster to come by to give an estimate for repair of hail damage on DH's car. :rolleyes1

I have a million errands to run, but I'm enjoying chillin' at the computer while I have to sit around for the roofer and the adjuster.

Memorial Day weekend plans: THE BEACH!:cloud9:

Well, since it's the start of our busy season at our motel and cottages, I have 12 to 15 hr days planned till mid-October, 7 days a week. Now don't feel too sorry for me. I am off all winter except for a few hours a week so I love my life.

Now, Can you imagine doing this with kids...NO WAY!

I can have the life I lead because I don't have kids. If I had kids, we could not go to Florida for a month, have DH take off for a week to visit the in-laws (and I don't have to go:cool1: ) and be able to afford all the toys we want.

I asked DH 2 days ago, "Why would anyone want a child when you can have a kitten?" I love my little family. DH, 2 Old cats, 1 kitten and Me...PURRFECT:woohoo:

Just got back from my VB/SSR week with the parentals and DN. Had a lovely time, weather was beautiful and I really enjoyed BOTH resorts. So, this weekend will be spent catching up on cleaning and all that sort of stuff. Not too interesting, but a pleasure anyway.

It got hot enough to go swimming so I went to my friend's pool yesterday, today I just went to church and relaxed the rest of the day, and tomorrow I have a BBQ to go to. There's also a parade in my neighborhood which I'll watch some of.

My shore trip will be the week of July 4 in Cape May, NJ. Can't wait!:beach:

Hi, too funny, I came on to find this thread again and here it is! Wanted to post this quote by Helen Mirren, glad I found it because as I was watching The Queen I thought "I bet she doesn't have kids"...she has a wonderful figure for her age!

"I’m just not interested (in children). I’ve no maternal instinct whatsoever. And I don’t think I’m so unusual. I think an awful lot of women don’t really want children but feel they ought to. They think there’s something wrong with them if they don’t want to, but it’s not true. I’m so happy I don’t have children. But I do love children and I’ve got family, and Taylor (her husband) has children that I’m involved with — and with great pleasure — but it’s just not for me.”

I'd love to say that we have something exciting and romantic planned since we have no children... but now we do.. sort of. We're fostering a 7 week old puppy rescued from a nasty shelter environment. He's thin and needs to grow up before being adopted. So in addition to our three dogs, gecko, and horse, we now have a "baby" who needs to eat and potty every four hours. That's right... 2 am feedings!
So we're sticking close to home all weekend.
The good news is... you can put the puppy in a cage and no one calls the police!
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Good for her! It's good for all of us child free folks when someone famous comes out and says that they chose not to have kids.

With all my child free extra time, I decided to take a second job at the local Target to earn extra $$ for a new computer and my Disney trip in December. The funny thing is, my favorite department to work in is Infants! I love all the little stuff we sell for them, and I like chatting with the guests and their babies. I get to play with the toys, play peek a boo with the babies-and go home to my nice quiet house! The best of all worlds!

You mean you don't DETEST babies???? SHocking!! lol...you know we are all painted as child-hating monsters.

:lmao: It is useful though, because when I run across someone who lives in that black and white of a universe, I know better than to discuss anything with them.

Lots of people think I have kids until I tell them otherwise, because I do like playing with them and interact well with them. I just like them not living with me! ;)

I have a kid, and am planning on one or two more, but I don't think that they are for everyone and never bat any eye when people say they choose to be child fee. The only thing I see being misrepresented, is when you guys say I can do XXXXX b/c I don't have kids :) Not all of us stay at home moms are poor, pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen. :laundy: We travel all the time and dine out way too much (fine dining & family), and we go to the movies and the ballet :) I go to the gym 2 hrs. a day and I can read any book I want, come on Harry Potter 7!! I have plenty of free time and no I don't hire anyone to help. I'm not syaing that I am this great super woman or anything, and I am also not saying that my child is neglected. We spend a lot of quality time together and the world is our playground. :beach: But I don't like it when people look at me with pity b/c I have a kid, like I'm a leper. :rotfl2: I just wanted to represent moms like me, who are in the middle. I can't find many moms to do things with b/c they have TOO many kids for their budget and are broke, but I also can't find many childless gals to hang out with either b/c they are always working. :confused3

Disclaimer: No, I am not rich or even wealthy. I just have a really good and well planned out life. This post is meant to be written in humor. Like, "awww, come on guys", sorry if I offend anyone.

If I had kids, there is NO way I could have afforded to purchase DVC, go to WDW 2x a year or create the Best Buy electonics annex that is my home. If I had kids, they would have wanted silly things like food and clothes. :rotfl:

I think what the point really is behind this thread is that we ALL make the choices we think are best for ourselves. Most child free people respect those who choose to have kids and don't denigrate them for their choices, we just want the same in return.

You sound like you have a great life! I do have a friend though who hasn't gone out with her husband alone since her child was born 4 years ago. In her mind, she "can't" do some of the things we mentioned here because she is a mom. I know not everyone is like that though.

I just thought I'd chime in and say that for years, I have been happily and QUITE cheerfully child free!! :cool1: My DPartner and I have enjoyed 9 blissful years together, and have been on 2 Disney Cruises together! (without kids!) :thumbsup2

But we have made the decision that we would like to be moms! We are currently in the process of adopting through the state of Missouri.

SO the point I want to make here is this:

First I want to THANK all of you who have the self-awareness to know that you DO NOT want children, and for having made the SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE decision not to. It is so devastating to see all of the hundreds of thousands of children who sit and wait to be adopted because someone gave birth to them who didn't want them, or who didn't have the capacity to care for them. The HORRIBLE things that have happened to some of these children is beyond comprehension. :sad1: Our system is SO over-burdoned with these children. (Plus, I won't even go into the strain of overpopulation on the world's natural resources... People having 15 and 16 kids with no thought about how those kids will feed their kids someday...But that's for another thread...:rolleyes1 )

Secondly, for those of you who have children and read this...this is in no way a stab at you. If you have children, and you love them and take care of them, I commend you! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: But at the same time, please don't chastise anyone who makes a choice not to be a parent. Believe me. I've seen the fallout of people who don't want the kids they have. :guilty:

Thanks!

No stabbing at all...but one poster seems to be way past the CCF part with some really mean comments on another thread.
