Cheer groups

There are cheer competitions every weekend from May 1 til May 16
No wonder I couldn't find a last minute room to add on to my trip! Oh well, I'm sure we can find something to do 5/15. (First world problems of locals).

We just got back from a stay at Pop. Our last day we were talking with one of the bus transportation cast workers and he told us that starting end of this week (April 30th) that cheer groups have booked 2,200 out of the 2,800 rooms at Pop. Obviously have no way to verify this as fact but if heading to Pop soon, might be prepared for a resort with lots of cheerleaders.
Yes,that's a big one-The Summit.

They are also staying at All-Star Movies and CSR.

Do you know if the D2 summit one is just as big? Wondering how crazy that weekend will be from that.
I think it is going to be pretty big because they are staying at 3 Resorts as well.

And the thing is Cheerleaders are here constantly-it is not JUST on days when Competitions are scheduled.

We are at All-Star Movies and as High School was leaving,College was coming in and today we have already seen Summit Cheerleaders begin arriving.

Thanks. I figured they would be there to some degree on the in between days too. I am at Saratoga so not too worried about resort impacts, but how are the park impacts so far do you think?

We have always found Park impact from the Cheerleaders to be negligible but others may disagree.

Resort impact is definitely a factor-I would guess it is about 50/50 Cheerleaders to Guests here at Movies.

No really big problems so far although the College Cheerleaders did get a bit "rowdy" after they finished all their Competitions last night. :)

I am sure they were just glad the stress of competing was over.

I agree. We were there in May, 2019 and didn't realize it was the week of one of these cheer competitions. I would assume most of those groups are on a tight budget and likely stay at one of the more economical places. Don't know their daily schedules, but would imagine they are busy practicing and/or competing, so that explains why we didn't see them at the parks. If you happened to be staying where they are is probably where you would notice the biggest impact.

I switched my stay from Coronado to Old Key West once I learned about the groups. Luckily, resort availability was still great when I booked.

Was well worth the extra couple-hundred bucks.
My daughter’s cheer team is competing at the D2 Summit in Disney World May 12-16. We are staying at Old Key West.
