Another curio bite for us all to digest:

An age old rumour is that Walt's body was frozen and remains so pending medical advances that would allow an extension to his life. Actually, this was never true and arose due to high levels of privacy surrounding his passing.

But Mister Eisner, never one to leave any stone unturned, made a beeline for Walt's (apparently unmarked) grave and after quizzing everyone he could think of - including a gravedigger - he reportedly found it.

Apparently Disney officials had warned him not to do such a thing, but this only served to make Eisner want to do it more, if only to show them who's boss. After doing this, he then decided to announce it publicly with a huge grin on his face.

Not too surprisingly, this did not go down too well.

Strange.

Disney's gravesite is marked and is actually quite easy to find. Here is a link to a snopes page which contains links to a picture of the gravesite and directions to it

http://www.snopes.com/disney/waltdisn/frozen.htm#add

The strange thing is that Eisner apparently did talk about going through great efforts to find Walt's "unmarked" grave recently on some program. Either he lied or he went to the wrong grave.

Interesting that the directions to the mausoleum involve looking for the number "33" (for the section in the cemetery). Looks like Walt is an eternal member of Club 33.

I find it hard to believe ME didn't know the location of Walt's grave. I also find it hard to believe anyone ever told him not to try and find it or to visit it.

Wrong grave... now that would just be funny, in a sad kinda way

He was told not to by Disney reps as appearing with a wide grin on yourslef and announcing to the world at large that you're off to visit a grave belonging to a non family member stroke friend is not a typical course of conduct in the world of CEOs. They also feared that a great horde of people would try it... I don't know if they did.

Walt was (I am told) anti-semetic. Eisner is (I am also told) jewish. If you wanted to be REALLY cynical, you could say that the more paranoid of the reps would have imagined a 'connection' being made and possibly told ME not to on that basis. I don't know if they were picturing ME dancing on Walt's grave or something...

BESIDES (so I don't end up going down the whole anti-semetism being not-very-nice route), if Eisner is pootling off to look for famous people's graves, who's leading the company..? ;)

Walt was not an anti-semetic. Nor was he a racist. If you have access to the Walt man behind the myth DVD you can hear:
Disney legend Joe Grant state that it is untrue.
Richard Sherman call it slander
Floyd Norman says walt was not a raceist or anti-semetic

Lastly in 1955 Walt was the Beverly Hill Bani Brith Man of the Year he was given the award by this Jewish organization only after they investigated the rumor and found it false.

This rumor makes is much like as the one about the royal family disliking Muslims and taking steps to see to it that the next Queen Mother was not married to one.

It is a mean and hurtful thing to say and I would hope that you will convey the truth of this matter to who ever told you.

Ya know, I am betting I know why Eisner was looking for the grave. I am sure he would somehow try to find it and then charge money to view it. Make it an attraction. Call it the "Hommage Tour"You know, start out by just selling relpicas of the stone or maker if any... then progress to making it a special tour to see it in person. Of couse it would be tasteful
It would only be open certain hours and if you eat in certain Disney restaurants you would get priority viewing. Then it would progress to only certain items off the menu and everyone in your party better eat or at least pay to eat.
Oh, and he will not forget you pin traders out there. Nope, pins, hats, tee shirts, and the best of all a special genuine limited edition paper souvenir ( only 10million issued) ticket that you can save to remember your experience. Wait, what about a special viewing on the holidays. I am thinking Halloween would be primo.
Wow, and who said Mikie was a mercenary idiot who has destroyed Walt's dream. Not me!!

P.S. Did I mention the yearly price increase?? They have not yet set the price for the "Hommage Tour" but they will need to decide what % the price will rise every year. After all , "you will be experiencing a piece of history" Ya gotta love Mr. E. and his team.
