We always have a late flight (10pm) and have used the pools up until our ME pick up time(6:30-7pm). We usually do a water park in the morning (have bell services hold our carry-ons) and come back and get in the pool/showers/eat before departing to MCO.

Hi. Are there showers in the bathrooms at the pool? Are you using the gym showers? I'm just asking since I never thought of this option before although we usually take very early flights on way home since I prefer it over later in the day.

Yes, there are showers in the bathrooms by the pools and they have soap dispensers in the shower. We actually get an "extra day" by doing this - we relax by the pool until it's time to shower and eat and then off to MCO.

Our family has always used the "extra day" to do something new or fun, involving a resort we are not staying at. Last trip we checked out in the morning, ditched bags with bell services and took a Minnie Van to Poly for breakfast, then Monorail to Grand Floridian for some shopping. After we were done we got off at the MK monorail stop and just went to the bus area for a bus back to the resort to wait for the Magical Express.

Great idea! It's always a great day to do something you have always wanted to and making use of the transportation helps tremendously. 2 years ago we headed to MK via the Transportation Center and rode the Water Ferry to the park and then the Monorail back. The kids got a kick out of this, and we probably wouldn't have done it that way had it not been the last day and we had the"extra day".

I've found that some pool showers/locker situations, are better than others. I always go swimming on the day of checkout, but I scope out the shower/locker situation ahead of time so that I have a game plan. Resorts like AKL & OKW for example, have excellent showers, with ample towels and lockers. On the other hand, Poly didn't.

What's the shower/locker situation at Poly? We plan on swimming at the volcano pool on our checkout day and was hoping there was somewhere to rinse off and a dry area to get changed...

There are no lockers in the pool area. The only lockers are out in the sun near the boat rental building and they’re very limited. There are 2 showers and 1 bench in the women’s bathroom, but it gets crowded quickly. There are no lockers or showers in the quiet pool area.

We often do Downtown Disney in our last day. The only issue with that is you have to carry your purchases around since it’s too late to have them sent to the room.
