Hi Everyone.

The aussietravellers are just checking in from the empire state club. We didn't get to do our single diget dance as we left for the UK from Australia before coming here. But just thought we would report in on the Empire State Club as we had read so many bad reports about the Hotel New York before coming and were a little nervous, but I have to say, it is fantastic! Everything so far has been just fantastic! The staff are all lovely and very helpful, check in was a breeze, our luggage was in our room when we arrived back after checking in, they called us on my mobile to let us know that the room was ready, the room is great and very clean (although my only complaint would be the bathroom needing a revamp and there is a big block of 9 tiles that are falling off the bath, but that is hardly a complaint). The vip fastpasses are a definate bonus, we have been making lots of use of those and the lounge is great also and is open until after park closing each night and we have loved having the characters at breakfast with us. We have kettle and a coffee maker in the room, had read that we need to ask for these, but they are already there. We have turn down service at night and they put little chocolate coins on the beds and there are robes and slippers in the bathrooms. Would like a fridge though, but I am finding the windowsill to be quite handy, as the windows are freezing, it keeps whatever is sitting on it quite cold. So we are very very happy with the Empire State Club.

Will do a full trip report in about 3 weeks when we get back to warm Australia.

It is absolutely FREEZING here at the moment, for Aussies who have come from 35 degree heat, we are really noticing it. So as it is raining today, we are having a day away from the parks so I thought I would pop up and use the computer to report in.

The only very sad part of our journey, which is really only my sadness is that I have a life threatening peanut allergy and they seem to use peanut oil everywhere. So I have been only able to eat these revolting allergy meals that they have that are worse than airline food, and believe me, I LOVE my food and watching everyone else eating this yummy food at Lucky Nugget, Annettes, Mickey's Magical Christmas dinner and I have this slop! But at least the rest of the family is enjoying their meals. Went to the Tea Party at Lucky Nugget the other day and I could not eat a thing! But again, seeing the characters and the rest of the family enjoying themselves was enough for me.

Bye

Hellooo, lovely to hear from you! Sorry to hear about your peanut allergy:sad2: but hope the lack of 'good food' is not putting too much of a damper on the rest of your holiday. Look forward to hearing more about your trip when you get back.

Alice, the Mickey's Magical Christmas Dinner was just beautiful. There were so many meet and greets, the characters have their places around the outside of the room. There was Mickey and Minnie (in their beautiful christmas outfits), Peter Pan, Jack Sparrow, Buzz, Donald and there were Princesses also, up on the stage, but I am not sure who they were (only have a son and there was no way he was going to go near the princesses! :lmao: ) There was also chip and dale too and Father Christmas came out towards the end.

It is a huge buffet dinner, there is a massive buffet in the middle of the room and then a few smaller ones around the outside. I can not tell you about the food as I did not even go up to the buffet, I had special allergy food, which was disgusting, luke warm and just grosse, however I did drule :lmao: at everyone else eating, particularly the desserts as I LOVE desserts. But everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. There was red and white wine as well as juice and there was sparkling and still bottles of water on the tables.

The tables were just decorated so well. There were red and white napkins in the wine glasses, a gorgeous table centre peice and then christmas crackers (bonbons) at each place setting.

There were roving magicians, balloon people and face painters (althought the face painter didn't make it to our table) that come to the tables. The balloon ladies are very clever and were creating some amazing balloons for the children.

There is a disco for the children too (my DS would not dance as he was too shy).

It really was just a magical night. The only downside was waiting outside in the cold/rain/sleet. But it was well worth it once you go inside. There is buggy parking undercover in the room before the main dining room.

OMG OMG... I got (still am!) soooo excited just reading this post of yours :yay: Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I don't think my two will care very much for the disco as well as they're shy when it comes to things like this (but you never know! lol) but they'll be chuffed to bits just to see all the characters, esp Donald (for my DS) and Minnie & the princesses for my DD. Ooooooooooooooooooh!!!

Ohh sorry, another question. THe dinner's from 7-9 pm. Do they kick you out sharp at 9?! lol. I'm just trying to plan the evening. Fantillusion is at 9 on Saturday, so I'm thinking we could just quickly nip out just before 9 and then head to the start of the parade route and watch it from there. It's not too far, is it?

Hope you enjoy your trip. The Empire State Club sounds great, I might be temnpted to book here next time I go:thumbsup2 Shame about your allergy means that you can't enjoy the lovely food on offer.

glad you are enjoying it and look forward to hearing more when you get home

Am so pleased to hear you are having a good time, although the food allergy must be a real problem:sad1: .

I am staying at the New York on 22 December and started a new thread yesterday enquiring about the cost of the Empire State Level.

I don't want to appear rude but are you able to give an indication as to the extra cost over a normal room?

Oh dear!!!:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Ignore me, I was too quick posting on this thread and not reading the answer on the thread I started!

I think the excitement is getting to me:santa:
