Checking in at the Fort

I have two questions. First, what loop should I seek out. We have a 37' class a motorhome and a "preferred site" reserved. We will be towing a car and all of us are bringing bikes. My kids are 13 and 8.

Second, we will be checking in on Saturday December 1st and will be staying untill the 8th. Is it beneficial to arive as early as possible to lay claim to a site that will be opening up later in the morning (first come, first serve), or does Disney randomly assign sites ahead of time that they know will be coming open on any given day? I have no problem pulling in early, getting a site assignment and then heading to the park for a few hours while people are packing up to leave.

Or, does any of this really matter and should I just relax and take what they give me?

Relax and take what they give you. It worked for us our first trip there.

I agree with Gator Dad.

I chuckle when I read all of the posts from newbies obsessing over what loop/what site. The truth of the matter is that every site in the Fort is a nice site. And there are definitely really nice sites on every loop, and maybe some sites that leave something to be desired- but they are all nice.

I almost always take what they give me at check in. Just last November, I ended up in the 1000 loop. I had never stayed there before, and never thought I wanted to, but I ended up loving it.

The last time that I asked for a specific loop and site was a time where I had reserved a preferred site and the castmember said they had openings on all the preferred loops. I asked for a site near the basketball court on the 300 loop, and that is what I got. I ended up not liking that spot too much (too crowded), but I asked for it.

So relax, take what they give you.

the best thing to do is ask for a site that gatordad previously had, because i make all of mine pull thrus by the time i'm done.

I concur!!! Just take what they give you. With the size of your rig you shouldn't have any problems. This is a vacation - - - no need to add stress to your life!;)

BTW - The sites are assigned 2 to 3 days before you arrive. If you have a special request (i.e. particular loop, close to bus stop or comfort station, or even a particular site) you should call the Front Desk at FtW 3-5 days before you arrive so they can note your ressie for the site assigner.
