Hi! I was wondering exactly how long it would take to check in. We'll be pulling a 5th wheeler, and will arrive on Monday August 28th, around noon. I thought we'd just drive up, go in and get to our campsite, maybe taking 10 minutes or so. However, I saw pictures of lines of RV's waiting to check in!!
So what's the real deal? How much time should I plan for the check in process? Oh, and what all will we have to do? I've heard everyone has to get a room key and some other stuff.

Thanks!!

We just came back from FW about 3 weeks ago and our check in took about 10 minutes, I think it took longer to wait for the van to take us to our campsite!
And yes they do give you everything at check in--maps,resort info, kttw

I think by coming in on a Monday your wait will be less than on a weekend...I have waited an hour one time but then a different time I had a 20 min. wait. If you are planning to get into a park that day my suggestion would be to come in early and park in the over flow lot and let the office know you have arrived, then go on to enjoy your day...when you are ready to come back then your wait at the end of the day SHOULD be a whole lot less...everyone tries to get there at check in at 1PM and its insane then...go enjoy the parks ans have a magical time with no hassels for check in!!!

You really can't judge how long it will be. We have gone and been through in 10 minutes and we have gone and had it take well over 45 minutes. It all depends on how busy it is. Regardless, it is worth whatever wait you have.

They give you alot of info at check-in---and also folks can have alot of questions they want to ask--it can be a very slow process and then at other times the line move thru at about 5 minutes a rig--------

its really luck of the draw-------one option is to arrive early--you can get your tickets etc everything but your site (and sometimes even a site) --then you can park in the overflo lot and go to a park or just hop the internal bus and explore FW--they give you a number to call later to get your site assignment---they even let us go down to take showers and change prior to having a site

We just got back in June and arrived about 10:30 am and the wait for checkin was about 10 min. then we had to wait about 1 more hour for a site to get ready. We headed for the parks about 12;30pm and the line was way backed up. I guess its hit or miss and lines building up later in the day.

When you check in at FW you will not need to get out of the truck you will check in from your vehicle(the inside area is mostly for cabins). The amount of time it takes really does depend on how many questions the people infront of you have or how prepared they are to check in, cc card and res # ready ect.

just got back 1wk ago took about 15 min, came in on a mon. about 115 not to bad.they had us go inside had to wait for camper in front to move.

Since campsite check-in is listed at 1pm, almost everyone shows up right about then. If you get there earlier, you might have to wait for your site to get ready (check out is 11, and sometimes there is only one sites person for 2 or 3 loops), but you can avoid the lines. Friday afternoons between 3 and 5 can be the worst, since all the locals tend to come over as soon as they get off work/school. I've seen lines out to the main road at that time! :dance3: :dance3:

I didn't know there was a check in time *Sheepish grin*
Thanks for the responses :) I feel I now have at least a semi understanding of what to expect!!

We would be considered one of the locals. The check-in time is set at 1:00pm for camp sites since this is the time FW feels every previously camped in site will be ready for it's new guest(s). As mentioned you can check-in before or after that time. Our time for checking-in is usually 7:30am and at that time since there is nobody else checking-in it takes 5 to 10 minutes. Getting our site at that time has been a 50/50 shot.
