Checking for overlapping FP+ times

I've made my FP+ reservations, but I want to try to find times earlier in our trip for A&E. I'm willing to work with overlapping times, but I'm not sure how to keep checking without losing what I have. I need to get 2 at the same time because one is a child under 7, and then one more that overlaps. Is losing what I already have reserved (not A&E on the day I'm trying to check) a risk I have to take?

No. What you need to do is go to your FP+ selections and click on "need to change a FP+ experience or time?", then select those you want to change the time for. Under your A&E FP+ there will be a link to change the time and a dropdown menu will appear with all available times.

I've never tried this, but I think this should be possible. First, you would need to open up MDE in two different browsers (not just two different tabs in the same browser). Then, in the first browser, select the option to modify an existing fastpass and select the people (person #1 and child under 7) and fastpass you are changing. Search for A&E and see if a better time shows up. In the second browser, do the same for person #3 and see if you can find an overlapping time. If you can't find anything, just click cancel on both, and nothing should change. This way you can see if there are any overlapping times without having to commit to any changes before you are sure the times you need are available.

It may be possible to search for 3 single person FPs this way as well because I think I read somewhere that once you make a child's initial FP, you can then change it w/o being connected to an adult, but I'm not sure about that.

Again, I don't have any real experience with this, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong or if there is an easier way to do this!

I was afraid to do it because I'd never done it before!

I just bit the bullet and tried it. In case you, or anyone else, needs to do it:
I chose the ride I was willing to change
Click "change experience"
Choose what you want to change it to
Choose the people you want to change
It will let you see what times are available. I could see that there were two time slots left, both overlapping, but they were at 9:50 and 10pm, so they didn't work for me, but had I wanted to continue I would have chosen one time slot for me and DD5 (children under 7 can't ride alone, so an adult needs to be chosen with that child), then the other for DH. Since I didn't choose those times, I didn't lose the original experience I had chosen.

I thought the system wouldn't let you choose overlapping times? In my experience, it was one hour blocks only, no overlapping.

I think IrishNYC meant overlapping between two or more people, not a single person with overlapping FP+'s. So person A has an FP+ for 4:00-5:00, person B has one for 4:30-5:30, and they can both go in together any time between 4:30 and 5:00.

Ahhh, that makes so much more sense. Thanks. :)

BTW IrishNYC, you can definitely check as much as you like without losing what you have. Before switching, you get a final "Are you really sure about this?" type checkbox you have to click to change anything. Just clicking the "Change Experience" or "Change time" to see what, if anything, is available doesn't affect your current reservations.

In terms of overlapping - for our family of 5 for A&E, I've got one 7:30-8:30, one 8:20-9:20, two 8:40-9:40, and one 9:10 to 10:10. If I can't switch any of them out, I've got to send two people in at 8:30, have them loiter in line and wait for the next pair at 8:40, and have the 9:10 person (probably me) throw himself on the mercy of the CMs.
