Checked in Online-Arrive next Tuesday

We arrive in late -late next Tuesday evening (maybe even Wednesday after midnight). Yesterday I received an email confirming online check in, which I had done previously several weeks ago. It said when I arrive to go to the Online Check In Desk at our resort and present a photo ID. Is this standard procedure? I thought there was something about bypassing check in and getting a text with our room number and using out Magic Bands to gain room access. I'm confused.

If all the conditions are met it's a POSSIBILITY to be able to bypass the front desk. It is not a given, not everyone is able to. Nobody has been able to figure out how they decide who gets to bypass the front desk, who gets to go to the Streamlined Check In kiosk and who gets to go to the Online Check In Desk.

Thank you. I guess I will find out next late next Tuesday. Since we are arriving so late, I'm hoping either way, there won't be much of a wait to get to our room.

We are arriving around the same time in the evening as you for our November trip. I am hoping to bypass the check in with on line check in. I will say though, that we always arrive that late and the line is never long at check in, it's just that when it's been a long day and you're very tired, you just don't even want to have to talk to anyone. Just going to the room would be awesome.

Remember if you are taking ME, you will need to pick up your own luggage.

Have you found your resort room requests are met when you come in late? We are landing at 10:30pm so I don't expect to get to the resort until at least midnight. We are booked at POR in a garden view room. I'm hoping to not be too far from the dining area. What has been your experience, do late check ins get the least sought after rooms?

We always check in around 1AM and always have the lobby to ourselves We have had very good luck getting our room requests, but the last 4 trips have been to the PO resorts and they still take faxes and I think that really helps.

We also land at 10:30 p.m. I'd say it's been about 50/50 for getting our request met. However, I've always gone to the desk, and after I see where they are putting us I will ask if there is possibly anything available in the area that we would like to be in. After some switching I can usually get us in our preferred location. This will be the first time we will try online check in and I'm crossing my fingers. I'm planning on having a map of the resort with me (with room placements) and if I'm texted with a room number that we would like to change, I will stop at the desk and see about switching before going to the room. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we will be able to go straight to the room.
