I bought a pair of Skullcandy headphones last year. They didn't last long before one side didn't give sound.

After fiddling with them I didn't see how we could fix them and almost chucked them.

I looked on the website for any info on fixing them I could find and read that they have a lifetime warranty.

I shipped them back to the company last week and they are sending me a new pair for free.

Glad I didn't throw them out. From now I am making sure to check warranties carefully and if I can get something from a company that has a lifetime warranty, I will.

Thanks for posting this! I bought some for DS for Christmas and he is usually hard on stuff. Nice to know & hopefully I'll remember this if anything happens.

Skullcandy has an awesome warranty -- no questions asked. DS had someone sit on his headphones once. I sent an email explaining exactly what happened, and we ended up with a replacement.

Did you have to return the headphones? They asked me to return the headphones.

I have two replacement Otterboxes too. They used to just replace, now they require a photo with your name, date, and some other info first.

It's been a couple of years, so it's fuzzy -- but yes, I think they sent the new ones, and I had to send the headphones back in the box they came in -- they sent a prepaid label (maybe they emailed it?).

can you tell me more about the Otterboxes, I just got one this spring for my iphone and it is coming apart. Very disappointed in the quality of it.

Thanks for posting this! I have a pair of that have lost sound in one side, too. I will send those puppies back!

It is a year warranty. I bought mine through AT&T so I just had to take mine back to the AT&T store and they replaced it there. It has to be the same color.

Thanks for posting! My pair just recently lost sound in one ear and I was just going to go buy a new set when I managed to get around to it. Now I'll just send 'em back!

Also, just as a PSA: The Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval provides a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase for any product with the GH seal of approval (you need to provide a receipt--I've started scanning mine in and saving them in a Warranty file on my laptop).

Good for you!

Everyone should be attaching their receipt to the warranty card or package info, especially for warranties.

We have a warranty file, and everything from kitchen tools to laptop warranties are in it. We just pull the particular item if necessary, and go from there. We have a Platinum AMEX and Gold VISA, and both offer additional warranties as well.

Go to otterbox's website. I had an Otterbox, and they sent me a new one even after the one year warranty had expired.

I bought my daughter a relatively expensive vacuum for Christmas two years ago. It died several months ago, after the one year warranty expired. I got to thinking about it and called the credit card company for the card I used. I had a feature that doubled the warranty. Luckily, I knew I bought it from Amazon, so I was able to print out all the order information. I thought it would be a real hassle, and it did take a couple of phone calls, but I got a credit on my American Express for the full purchase price. Didn't have to send it back or anything. I was amazed.

I wonder how many other things I've just tossed that would have been covered. I'll definitely pay more attention in the future.

headphones arrived yesterday! I am thrilled. I am going to put them under the tree for the kids and tell them that this set STAYS with the desktop in the office......they can only use them there.
