Just a word to the wise...

We're travelling Westjet (well, five out of twenty of us are) in February. One of our friends got an email saying that the flight schedule had changed. Thank GOODNESS he alerted the rest of us who didn't get an email!

DF and I are returning at a later date than the rest, and they had changed our return flight from departing at 1pm to 7AM! After being on hold for a 20 minutes we were graciously changed to depart at 1:50 pm instead of 7am.

Just a heads up, check your flights!

Yeah, flight changes are a hassle.

However, I would have jumped all over that earlier flight. We like to get to where we are going and get on with vacation. Later flights are a waste of a day, IMO. I know it's not for everyone though.

From my personal experiences, Westjet is very poor at notifying you if your flight changes. Always good to double (and triple) check your flights regularly from the time you book it right up until departure day.

So I looked on-line and saw that we are leaving at 1:50 pm rather than 1 pm.

Happened to us last March with United as well, but they moved us to a flight we could not make b/c of DCL... leaving MCO at 8:15 am! I called and they tried to charge us for the change, but after explaining myself several times (nicely, but strongly) they did not.

We are flying in FEB too with West Jet.... my flight is direct, and thankfully, still no changes I was shocked to see that the flight we paid $199 pp each way is now up to $698 pp EACH WAY now!!! WOW! I am glad we booked when we did!

Westjet (at least for Winnipeg flights) is the worst for schedule changes. This just happened to us. Based on a prior experience with them I do regularly check our flights and in this case not only was our direct flight gone, they had us arriving at midnight (after a 4 hour layover in Toronto) and coming back a day later, even though there were better flights available on our arrival and departure days.

I am hearing many horror stories of Westjet flights to and from Winnipeg being cancelled at the last minute or their changing equipment to smaller planes resulting in people being bumped. Their serivce levels outside Calagary and Toronto flights are really suffering as late, to the extent I will likely not be using them too much in the future, especially for personal travel.
